"The patient is in critical condition"

"Page the doctor immediately! Code red!"

"What should I tell the people in the waiting room?"

"Tell them the truth"

Lulu's pov

"Gia Marin, where is she?!", I hastily ask bursting through the doors of the hospital.

I tap my foot impatiently as I watch the receptionist tap the buttons on the keyboard. Her eyes peering at the screen of the computer.

Jesiah barely steps inside the hospital holding a sleepy Juliah in his arms.

"Room 91", the nurse finally responds writing down directions on a piece of paper.

I abruptly grab it from her sprinting down the hallway. Jesiah following behind me.

Room 90

Room 91 aha!

"In here", I splutter to Jesiah barging through the doors of the waiting room.

I come to a halt seeing Eli's family and Gia's mom all beaming at me with red swollen eyes like they've been crying for hours.

Searching for Eli, I finally spot him. He's in a corner sitting on the tile cold floor his back leaning against the light blue wall.

His knees are up supporting his arms that are crossed his head leaning down covering his face.

I can tell he's crying by the sudden sobs and the way his body is trembling.

Taking a deep breathe in then letting it out softly trying to calm my nerves down. I have no idea what is going on.

All I know is Gia's mother calling me about an hour ago hysterically crying saying Gia and Eli are in the hospital with Avalyn.

I remember my heart pounding against my chest hearing the word hospital. I knew Eli was out looking for Avalyn, but they never kept me updated after that.

So here I am taking slow steps towards Eli not knowing how to exactly approach him.

Why is he alone here?

"Eli", I mumble softly keeping my distance from him.

Eli stops sobbing, his head slowly lifting up. His emerald green eyes that are so red and swollen from all the crying are weak beaming at me in silence.

I've never seen Eli so vulnerable so broken. I'm so used to seeing him strong, emotionless, and his eyes always looking so intimidating.

But right now he's the complete opposite of all that and that's when my heart drops down to my stomach fearing the worst thinking the worst at the same damn time.

Gia

Avalyn

"Where's Gia?", I croak out glancing all over the room searching for Gia, but there's no sign of her nor Avalyn.

Everyone is warily watching Eli and I.

That's when Eli abruptly stands up his vulnerable self quickly filling up with rage. His emerald green eyes now looking cold. My eyes scan down to his clenched fists seeing his veins popped out from his skin.

BOOM

Eli slams his fist into the baby blue wall leaving a huge hole. Juliah bursts out crying from the sudden loud noise of Eli hitting the wall.

I turn around seeing Jesiah soothingly stroking her back calming her down as he exits the room.

"You need to calm down", Zachary firmly says to Eli.

"HOW THE FUCK CAN I?! I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY FIANCÉ AND BABY!", Eli grits his teeth.

"What happened? Someone please tell me", I splutter no longer being able to be patient.

"IT'S ALL MY FAULT GIA GOT SHOT!", Eli shouts again slamming his fist into the wall making another hole.

My jaw drops hearing what Eli just spluttered to me. My vision begins to blur feeling my heart thump faster than normal.

"OH MY GOD! HOW IS SHE?!", my voice cracks.

"We haven't heard anything yet.. all we know is that she's in surgery as we speak", April chirps sniffling.

Tears slide down my cheeks uncontrollably no longer being able to hold back the lump that's been fighting me in the back of my throat.

"Where's Avalyn? Please tell me she's o-okay!", I stutter fearing the worst.

"She's okay thank god.. she's in observation right now", Maria responds pulling me into a hug.

"I NEED TO BE WITH THE BOTH OF THEM!", Eli shouts causing all of us to beam at him.

Eli looks like he's on the verge of losing his shit.

"Eli you must calm down.. I know it's hard to keep calm with everything that's going on, but you must control yourself", Jesiah splutters stepping inside the room with a calm Juliah.

"IF I DIDN'T LET GIA COME WITH ME.. SHE WOULDN'T BE IN THIS PLACE FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE.. IF I WAS A MAN OUR DAUGHTER WOULDN'T OF NEVER BEEN TAKEN IN THE FIRST PLACE! FUUUUCK!", Eli roars suddenly letting himself drop to the floor sobbing uncontrollably becoming vulnerable and fragile once again.

I pull away from Maria quickly crouching down beside him draping my arm over his shoulders hugging him.

At first Eli stiffens by my touch, but then his shoulders slump down trembling by each sob.
I know Eli doesn't want me nor anyone wrapping their arms around him trying to comfort him.

I know Eli wants Gia's arms to be wrapped around him comforting him instead. She's the only one that's been able to control Eli.

However, she's fighting for her life right now. So as her best friend it's my duty to be there for Eli for my best friend and god daughter.

Knock Knock

"Hello everyone", a dark skinned nurse with black braided hair nervously says stepping inside the waiting room with a clipboard in her hands.

Eli immediately stands up pulling away from my arms walking over to the nurse who's wearing navy blue scrubs.

"Please tell me what's going on with my fiancé?", Eli hastily asks grabbing both of the nurse's arms desperate for an answer.

The nurse's dark brown eyes saddens peering at Eli then at all of us.

"She's in critical condition.. she's lost too much blood due to the bullet that hit the left side of her back from protecting her baby when the gun fired.. we need a blood transfusion immediately", the nurse responds a sympathetic expression plastered on her face.

Eli let's go of the nurse's arms turning away from her most likely crying from the news blaming himself for all of this.

Poor Gia, she put her life to protect her baby girl. That's exactly what a mother would do for their children.

We all gasp hearing the news. Maria immediately asks, "what blood type is she?".

"International", the nurse responds.

We all look at each other hoping one of us is the same blood type as Gia. Funny thing about the international blood type is that international can go into any blood type, but no other blood type goes with it besides it's own kind.

"No one here is international?!", Eli sternly says his eyes watery.

Everyone shakes their head no including myself.

"FUCK!", Eli grumbles.

Just as the energy of the atmosphere of the room went negative. Nathan barges through the door with watery eyes a worried expression on his face.

"How is she?!", Nathan sniffles grabbing both of my shoulders peering at me.

"She's dying", I break down sobbing hard hugging Nathan.

No matter what happened between Nathan and Gia. I still value my friendship with him.

"W-what!", Nathan splutters a baffled expression on his face.

"She's lost too much blood", Jesiah chirps.

Nathan pulls away from me walking towards Jesiah.

"What blood type is she?"

"International", the nurse responds.

"I'm international", Nathan responds and all of us gasp from relief.

"We must perform a blood transfusion right now", the nurse hastily says peering at Nathan.

"No problem let's go", Nathan firmly says walking towards the nurse.

Suddenly, Eli steps forward between Nathan and the nurse glaring at him. Nathan furrows his brows at Eli's sudden reaction.

"Eli this isn't the time", April hisses.

"I'll pay you any amount of money to retrieve her blood type", Eli mutters.

"Mr. Gold we do not have time to do that.. her life is on a thin line", the nurse firmly says.

Eli drops his gaze from Nathan down to the floor from the news then steps back allowing Nathan to follow the nurse.

"She loves you man that's why she picked you", Nathan pats Eli's shoulder as he leaves following behind the nurse.

"T-Thanks man", Eli mumbles a tear sliding down his cheek.

"Mr.Gold", a male doctor calls out glancing around the room.

"Yes, how's my daughter", Eli immediately responds standing firmly beaming at the doctor.

"Everything is fine.. she's 100% healthy in perfect condition", the doctor smiles.

"Thank god", We all sigh.

"Come with me.. your daughter is waiting for you", the doctor says turning his heel.

Eli immediately nods, a smile forming on his lips wanting his daughter in his arms safe and sound where she belongs.

"Immediately notify me if you hear anything about Gia.. I'll be right back with Avalyn", Eli says to all of us in a serious tone.

Now that Avalyn is in perfect condition ready to be reunited with her family.

It's now a waiting game for Gia.
