Chapter 36
Matsuri's grandmother stroked her hair softly. Tears formed in Matsuri's eyes and hugged her grandmother.
"W-what's going on?" Matsuri asked
"Relax...calm down" Litina said. Matsuri felt tears roll down her right cheek.
"I-I'm scared...this m-monster inside m-me" Matsuri said and trembled
"Don't call them monsters..." Litina said
"H-huh? But they are monst-"
"No they're not. They are misunderstood" Litina said
"Wh-what do you mean?" Matsuri asked
"Black dragons aren't what you think. They are caring and loving as well" Litina said
"Caring and loving?! They are massive killers!" Matsuri exclaimed
"Matsuri...I need to show you something..." Litina said as her hand glowed. Matsuri tilted her head and suddenly they were in a small island. Matsuri's eyes widen seeing humans but they were black dragons
"Wh-what is this place?" Matsuri asked
"This is where the black dragons live and hide away from people. They are barely any of them left" Litina said. Matsuri saw the people were happy and children running around
"H-how did Manny's father ended up in this place?" Matsuri asked
"Well I've talked to a black dragon who was also in the city. She said a man left the island when his mate rejected him. He wanted to kill but instead...he was lucky to have another chance to love" Litina said
"Yeah but...Manny said his parents died because of a fire. Who could've killed them?" Matsuri asked
"The ones you defeated" Litina said
"The organization?" Matsuri asked
"Yes they wanted to end the black dragon's life but the golden dragon powers ended up merging with the black dragon creating a stronger but dangerous power" Litina said. Matsuri thought for a moment and her eyes widen as she realized something
"M-manny got rejected by his mate as well...just like his father" Matsuri said. Matsuri started thinking about Harumin leaving her for someone else...Kori. Matsuri felt her heart shatter and the more she thought the more tears formed in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She looked at her hand and saw her watery tears and bloody tears. She felt her grandmother's hand on her head and patted her head softly
"Don't think about that" Litina said and wiped Matsuri's tears
"I-if the black dr-dragons are caring and l-loving then why...do I enjoy killing?" Matsuri asked
"It's all because of your...grandfather" Litina said and teared up.
"Gr-grandma?" Matsuri asked
"I wish...I stayed longer...to be with him and be with you to see you grow up. I was only a ghost...seeing you in that battlefield made me feel terrible...since you were a kid that black dragon of yours was always inside you but you never awoken it" Litina said
"S-so...all that killing...was part of the black dragon?" Matsuri asked
"Yes...the more you killed the more that black dragon learned to kill and enjoy. That was basically all you ever knew what to do until..." Litina paused and looked at Matsuri
"Until I met...Harumi?" Matsuri asked
"Yes" Litina said
"Then after I hurted her...I ended up hurting myself because I hurt my mate?" Matsuri asked. Her grandmother replied with a nod. Matsuri sighed and wiped her tears
"Wh-why is she crying?" Matsuri asked
"Because you're not talking to Harumi about the problem you have" Litina said
"Pr-problem? What problem?" Matsuri asked. Her grandmother stood there staring at her with a raised eyebrow
"O-oh...my fear..." Matsuri mumbled
"Yes...your fear. Even black dragons have fears just like yours...your scared of losing Harumi" Litina said
"Y-yeah..." Matsuri said tearing up
"It's best to talk to her about it. The more you keep it inside the more your dragon gets wild and you won'tbe able to control those emotions" Litina said
"B-but...I mean...I know she's happy with me but...Kori said they were very happy when they were dating. He's a nice and smart guy. He has suffered a lot because of me and ended up being a successful man. All I've ever done was kill kill kill! Harumi is better off without me! He's better than me! He deserves her more than me! I was never good enough for her!" Matsuri cried out as tears rolled down her cheeks falling to the floor.
"Matsuri...don't say that-"
"Shut up! Her whole family accepted him! They loved him! He was poor and weak! Now he's such and strong! I've never changed at all! I'm weak! I'm a crybaby! I don't even think I should be alive! Everyone's life would be better if I was dead! I-I...I just..." Matsuri paused and her skin slowly changed into black and red dragon scales. Her teeth became sharp like her claws. Sharp scales appeared from Matsuri's spine down through her tail. Matsuri went on all fours and slowly opened her eyes then looked at her hands. She turned into her true and complete dragon form.
"I just wanna die..." Matsuri mumbled. Matsuri looked at her body and wings. She growled and curled up into a ball letting the darkness take over the light. She covered her eyes with her dragon hands and whimpered softly as bloody tears rolled down her cheeks. Suddenly Matsuri saw a light in front of her. It was bright that it kinda hurt her eyes. She stood up and slowly walked into the light
Th-this place...I remember...it's my old room
Flashback
"Leave me alone!" Matsuri shouted running up the hallways and slammed the door shut
"Matsuri! You better come here right now!" Her grandfather shouted from the other side of the door. Matsuri leaned against the door curling into a ball and cried on the floor. Matsuri stood up wiping her tears and started punching the wall
"That old man! Thinks he can control my life! I don't want to be like him! I don't! I don't want to be a monster!" Matsuri cried out. Matsuri cried loudly and covered her face. She had cuts all over her little arms.
"I-I...I just..." Matsuri paused and stood up from the floor then grabbed the knife from her shelf and aimed for her chest
"I just wanna die..." Matsuri mumbled. Matsuri was about to stab herself until her only friend...the moon came by. The moonlight shined through Matsuri's room. Matsuri stopped and stared at the light and looked outside at the window. She dropped the knife on the floor and walked to the window then opened it. Matsuri saw the beautiful full moon and reached her hand towards it
"Gr-grandma...?" Matsuri asked. Suddenly a light came up to the young girl and held her hand. Matsuri's eyes widen seeing a smile come from the light.
"Matsuri...my sweet Matsuri" Her grandmother Litina said. Matsuri teared up and hugged her
"Gr-grandma you're still al-alive?" Matsuri asked
"Of course Matsuri. I'm your Guardian Angel. I was always here with you. Watching over you" Her grandmother said stroking her cheek softly. Matsuri teared up and hugged her grandmother. She loved her grandmother's embrace.
"Gr-grandpa...I have to tell grandpa! I have to tell everyone!" Matsuri cheerfully said and ran out the door heading to the living room.
"Mom! Dad! Grandpa! I saw grandma! She's alive!" Matsuri said
"Matsuri what are you talking about?" Her father asked
"She's in my room! You have to see her!" Matsuri said
"Matsuri darling please...are you seeing things?" Her mother asked stroking her hair softly
"No I'm not! She's my Guardian Angel! She's here with me!" Matsuri said
"Matsuri just shut up already. Come on we must go to the arena" Her grandfather said
"Please! Grandma is alive! She's alive!" Matsuri said trying to convince her family that she was alive. Her grandfather let out a low growl then pulled his knife out and gave Matsuri a cut through her right eye
"She's dead! She's gone! So shut up you stupid kid!" Her grandfather said. Matsuri fell to the ground and covered her right eye that had a huge cut. Tears formed in her eyes and cried softly
"Don't hurt her like that!" Matsuri's mother shouted holding Matsuri closely
"Son teach her a lesson..." Matsuri's grandfather said. Taruto stood up and grabbed Jinai pulling her away from Matsuri
"No! Stop it! Leave her alone!" Jinai shouted and struggled to set herself free. Matsuri was trembling and shaking then looked up to meet her grandfather's stern eyes and raised his knife
"You little useless piece of shit. You're just a kid...a stupid kid...worthless...pathetic...no one will ever love you...who would love someone like you?" Her grandfather said. Matsuri looked at the knife and trembled even more as she was crying
"Gr-grandma! Help me! Please! Save me!" Matsuri cried out for help
"No one will save you! Shut up!" Her grandfather said about to hit her with the knife but a light appeared in front of him. His eyes widen and the light gave him a forceful attack pushing him away from Matsuri. Taruto's eyes widen as well and felt that forceful attack as well pushing him away from Jinai. Jinai grabbed Matsuri carrying her and grabbed her keys. She ran outside and into the car then put Matsuri inside and she got inside turning the car on and immediately drove away. Matsuri was shaky and trembling then looked behind her seeing her grandfather and father arguing and shouted out something she didn't understood. Matsuri uncovered her bleeding eye and looked out the window seeing the full moon. She smiled seeing a light following them
"Thank you...Grandma" Matsuri whispered as her bleeding eye slowly healed itself
End Of Flashback
Matsuri teared up and shifted back to her human self. Suddenly it was dark and she heard water pouring down. She looked around seeing herself in an alley. Her eyes widen recognizing the place
Flashback
Matsuri was older and had her pink hair. She held her knife tightly while glaring at her victim. Her hair was soaked since it was raining hard outside. Matsuri stabbed a guy through his eye
"G-gahhhh!!! A-argh!!! Mercy!!!" He cried out
"A Mizusawa never shows mercy..." Matsuri growled and pulled his eye out. She then stabbed his chest and cut it open making his organs come out from his stomach. Matsuri laughed insanely as she enjoyed killing. Suddenly a light appeared in front of her. Matsuri's eyes widen seeing the light. She just turned her back on the light and walked away leaving her grandmother alone. Her grandmother teared up seeing Matsuri heading the wrong path. Matsuri felt bad for leaving her grandmother but...
"I had enough of everyone's bullshit..." Matsuri growled
End Of Flashback
A light appeared in front of her and she reached her hand out like she did when she was young. She felt someone hold her hand and it was her grandmother.
"I-I'm sorry...grandma I-I...I never m-meant to say that...I-I just...I can't c-control it" Matsuri cried. Her grandmother pulled her into a hug and stroked her hair softly
"Shhhhhh...it's okay...let it all out" Her grandmother whispered. Matsuri hugged her grandmother back and cried on her shoulder.
"Wh-why..me? Wh-why did she...choose me?" Matsuri asked as she wiped her tears
"Why don't you go ask her? It'll be a good time to talk to her about how you feel and these emotions you have inside..." Her grandmother said. Matsuri looked at her grandmother and nodded. Her grandmother kissed her forehead and Matsuri smiled. Small lights started to surround Matsuri and she waved goodbye at her grandmother
"Thank you...Grandma" Matsuri said
"Your welcome...my sweet Matsuri" Her grandmother said and turned into a light. Matsuri smiled and she closed her eyes.
"She's waking up!"
"Matsuri!"
"Can you hear us?!"
"Are you okay?!"
Matsuri groaned softly as she slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was slightly blurry but in a couple of seconds it was clear. She saw her friends surrounding her.
"Wh-what happened?" Matsuri asked as she sat up
"Matsuri! You're alive!" Nene cried as she hugged her
"You scared us! We were worried sick!" Yuzu cried and hugged Matsuri
"We thought we lost you!" Mei cried and joined the hug
"Don't scare us like that again!" Sakira cried and hugged her. Matsuri's eyes widen hearing how everyone cared for her and were worried about her. The girls pulled away from the hug wiping their tears
"Harumi found you on the ground after you crashed into a tree. Surprisingly you didn't have any injuries but you couldn't wake up" Kori said. Matsuri looked at herself and saw no injuries.
Grandma must've healed them...
Matsuri looked up and saw Harumin's eyes were still teary from all the crying. Harumin ran up to Matsuri and hugged her tightly. The gang all left the room leaving the two lovers alone.
"I-I thought...I lost y-you!" Harumin cried. Matsuri teared up and hugged her back.
"H-harumi..." Matsuri mumbled. Harumin looked at Matsuri and wiped her tears
"I have something to tell you..." Matsuri said as she placed her hand against her chest and clenched her fist tightly.
