The rain steadily poured outside, the skies dark, and the sound of loud thunder able to be heard from a mile away. The flashes of lightening were bright, and rather startling.

Sarah looked outside through the castle windows, she knew something had happened, for it never usually rained this much.

She took a deep breath, and took off down the halls, apologizing to people as she bumped into them. She had a fast pace, the sound of her soft steps were able to be heard.

She quickly takes a sharp left turn, and she picks up her pace again, now almost running down the halls.

Everyone had disappeared from this side of the castle, so she no longer had to worry about bumping into anyone along the way.

As she makes her way down the longest hallway, she spots Tyler and Josh, two of the castles guards. They were actually friends with Sarah, and they were apart of the nicer guards, all the other ones usually being selfish pricks.

She hurried over to them, worry written all over her features.

When she reaches them, Josh looks up from his sitting position and Tyler looks at her, his hand on his sword. They share the same worried expression, and it only makes Sarah feel worse.

"Do either of you know what's up?" She asks softly, as she moves to stand beside Tyler. Tyler and Josh only shake their heads.

"It's been like this for hours, the doors locked and he won't speak to anyone, not even Spencer could get him to come out or talk," Josh quietly says, his eyes trailing to the door on the far end of the hall.

Tyler sighs softly and shakes his head.

"It's really no use Sarah, but you can try. Maybe he'll talk to you." He slowly drops his hand from the handle of his sword and he steps away.

Josh stands up, and he puts his sword back in its sheath. Sarah steps back as Josh steps forward to have a place beside Sarah.

"We have to continue our patrol, we'll be back around here soon though. If you get any updates or you even get him to come out, please tell us." Tyler says as he nods to Sarah.

Sarah nods to him, and Tyler starts to walk back down the hall, his hand back on the handle of his sword like it always was.

"Make sure he's okay," Josh softly says before nodding to her. Sarah once again nods, and Josh smiles a little before walking away and following Tyler.

Sarah watches them until they turn right and walk down the hall again. When she knows they're gone, she continues making her way to the very end of the corridor.

Whenever she steps closer, she can hear the quiet sobs coming from behind the door of her brother in law. She gives a sympathetic look before carefully knocking on the door.

"Bren, hun? May I come in?"

There's shuffling able to be heard on the other side, and the sobs from before become muffled but still audible.

"G-Go away!" She can hear her brother in law almost yell, as his sobs pick up in their volume again.

"Brendon please, just let me come in. Tell me what's up." "G-Go the f-fuck away!"

Sarah just sighs and she pulls a small sewing pin out of her pocket, she bends it a little, and then she starts to pick the lock of Brendon's door.

Once she gets it open, she carefully opens the door and walks inside, quietly closing it behind her once she steps inside.

Whenever she looks over to the bed, her expression immediately turns to a sad one.

The room is dark, the lightning flashes from outside were the only things to light up the room every few seconds. The thunder was still rolling outside, and the whole feel of the room was just miserable.

She walks over to the desk on the other side of the room, and she grabs the candle lighter. She returns to the door and she lights the lantern that was hanging by the door.

Whenever the light barely brightens the room, she looks over to Brendon's bed. There's a small bump in the blankets, and the soft sobs are still able to be heard, despite the young male hiding his face in the comfort of his pillow.

She slowly walks over to the bed and she sits down on the very edge. Another louder, yet broken sob escapes from the small bump.

"I t-told you to l-leave me a-a-alone," Brendon says, his voice muffled and weak.

"And I told you to let me in and you didn't, so here we are," Sarah says softly, as she carefully pulls back the blanket a bit to uncover Brendon's face.

His small body is shaking terribly, and he looks a wreck. His hairs a mess, and there are noticeable tear stains on his cheeks despite the dim lighting.

She carefully places a hand on his back, and she starts to rub soothing circles into it.

"What's wrong, B?" "S-Sarah he's g-go-gone."

Her expression falls again, and she lets out a shaky sigh. She knew exactly who he was talking about.

"H-He's gone and he's n-never com-coming b-back," Brendon chokes out, his cries muffling out his voice. Sarah just shushes him, and she continues rubbing circles into his back.

Brendon was talking about his husband, Sarah's brother, Dallon.

He was the prince, the prince who fell in love with a boy from the enchanted part of their area. The prince who married the boy who could control the weather.

He had gone out to settle a disagreement with a kingdom from another land and he never returned.

The only way Brendon and the rest of the castle figured out the news was from Brendon's friend who was a messenger. He was with the group Dallon had took with him on the journey.

Sarah moves Brendon a little so she can pull him up for a hug. He only clings to her and cries harder, making a loud clap of thunder and a bright flash of lighting roll through the sky.

"I know Bren.. and I'm so, so sorry." "I n-never got to s-say bye, I wasn't ev-even with h-him!"

The same thing happens again, except this flash of lighting lights up everything for a few seconds, and the roll of thunder made things shake.

Sarah starts to gently rock Brendon and run her hand through his hair, trying to get the poor boy to calm down even the slightest.

Brendon clings to her with a death grip, his whole body starting to shake more.

"Bren, bud, take deep breaths. I need you to calm down, the people will never be able to make it through this rain if it keeps up like this," Sarah says softly.

Brendon just shakes his head, and continues sobbing into her shoulder.

Sarah rocks him more and she continues doing her best to calm him down. She would stare out the window as she held him, watching as the rain would lighten up for a bit before coming down heavily again within no longer than two seconds.

Sarah looks around more after she tears her gaze away from the window, and she notices the letters Dallon wrote to Brendon one his beside table.

He must have been through all of them, seeing as there were small piles and clutters of them on the table and even some on the floor, seemingly have fallen in Brendon's break down.

"He loved you a lot, y'know.." She says quietly, and Brendon's cries just go silent for a few seconds.

"He would always come and gush to me about you, he would literally never shut up about you. You can ask anyone around the castle, you were the only thing he would ever go on and on about."

She pauses for a few seconds before continuing.

"The night that he asked you to marry him he had come to me before dinner and he stressed all his worries to me. He was so worried you'd say no, and you basically lit up his whole world whenever you said yes. He was head over heels for you, he'd do anything for you, Bren."

Brendon suddenly just lets out a loud sob, Sarah's words clearly not helping at the moment. Her eyes widen and she quickly tries to soothe him.

"Bren, babe, I need you to calm down.. you kinda control the weather if you've forgotten," She stresses to him.

Brendon just laughs breathily and he shakes his head again. His body slowly just slumps against her, and he stares out the window as more tears just continuously roll down his cheeks.

"I know it's sad, but I never gave a damn about the weather, and it never gave a damn about me," he shakes his head again.

"No, it never gave a damn about me."
