Flower Boy

The morning was going per usual, nothing interesting really happening.

Dallon Weekes, the man who owned the small flower shop downtown, had done his usual routine. Get up, get ready, open the shop, and wait.

Wait for costumers to arrive, which was.. pretty boring.

The only things that he could really do was tidy up the shop, or mess with his phone, and he had already done those things. Multiple times.

Having a flower shop downtown wasn't that bad though. Usually around lunch he started getting customers.

He mostly got people that were getting married and they wanted a few flowers to see which ones would fit with the whole wedding plan. Sometimes he even just got people to come in and get baskets for holidays such as Valentine's Day, or Easter.

Even things such as 'Get well soon' baskets, which were the baskets that sold the least, but oh well.

Dallon was currently straightening out some peonies that he had just gotten in, along with some yellow roses.

"Prosperity and joy," he mumbles to himself, as he moves the small basket they were in to a higher shelf.

Having a flower shop had some perks, you come to terms with each flower and their meanings.

It's interesting actually, and seeing people buy flowers for their significant others that they thought meant love, or passion, when they really meant something like hatred, or bad luck, was pretty amusing.

He wouldn't tell them that though, unless they actually asked. There was a list of flowers and their meanings above the register but he didn't really pay attention to it, it wasn't correct anyways.

The shop is empty for a couple more hours, until around noon or so, and a couple of girls come in.

Dallon immediately perks up when he hears the jingle of the bell above the door. He smiles slightly, before walking over to the register and standing behind it.

The lady in front was one of his usuals, and his best friends, Sarah.

"Hello ladies, Sarah, what can I do for you today?" He says softly, as he leans over the register to look at them.

Sarah smiles and waves to him. She and Dallon met back in school, and sometimes she would come help him around the shop.

"Well, we need help looking for some flowers for a wedding," Sarah says as she looks around.

Dallon moves from behind the register and he stands in front of them.

"Alright sounds simple enough. I'm sure you have some in mind right?"

Sarah nods and she starts dragging her friends further into the store. Dallon just chuckles and shakes his head, he was used to it.

He fixes a few more flowers before he returns to his chair behind the register.

Sarah and her friends are there for about an hour before they come back to the front, daffodils, chrysanthemums, and freesias in their hands.

"New beginnings, loyalty, and sweetness right?" Sarah giggles, as she nods to each of them flowers.

Dallon gives an amused look and he slowly claps, before smiling.

"Exactly right! I guess I'm rubbing off on you aye?" "I guess so!"

They smile and laugh and Sarah pays for the flowers before her and her friends leave. Dallon just stays behind the counter and he messes with his phone, he knew there wouldn't really be anymore customers.

What catches him off guard is when a short, raven haired man storms into the shop. Dallon jumps slightly and he's quick to put his phone away.

The shorter slaps what seems to be twenty dollars onto the counter, and he looks like he's out of breath.

"How do I passive-aggressively say fuck you in flower?" He pants out, as he looks up at Dallon.

Dallon smiles and gets up, the initial shock wearing off.

"A break up I presume?" Dallon says, looking over his shoulder at the man that's now following him.

The raven nods, and follows him intently.

"Well, you need a bouquet of geraniums, which usually mean stupidity," Dallon says as he grabs the flowers and holds them in his arms.

"Then, foxglove.. insincerity. Meadowsweet, uselessness.. don't tell anyone, but yellow carnations stand for 'You have disappointed me'. Everyone likes them, so I just let them do their thing."

Dallon shrugs as he speaks and he hears the man giggle softly, and might he add, it was adorable.

"Finally we have orange lilies! Which stand for hatred," Dallon adds, and he gathers all the flowers in his arms, "It will be quite striking! And full of loathing the whole time."

The raven giggles again and he follows Dallon back to the register.

"You sure do know about flowers.. I mean it makes sense since you have a flower shop, but you know more than most people I suppose."

Dallon smiles and shrugs at his words.

"Well seeing as I have nothing better to do rather than sit here and memorize the meaning of flowers, I'd say I do know more than most people."

The man pushes the twenty dollar bill he had left on the register towards Dallon again, he smiles and adds, "Keep the change, if this doesn't work I'll be back."

Dallon smiles and takes the money from him, though he still gives him his receipt.

"Alright, thank you. Just sign the receipt and all that boring stuff, you get it."

He nods, and he takes the pen Dallon offered to him. He signs the paper before he pushes it back to Dallon.

He grabs his flowers and makes his way to the door, slowly opening it before turning back to Dallon with a playful smile.

"Call me sometime."

And with that, he leaves, leaving Dallon pretty confused. How was he supposed to call him? He didn't have his number..

Dallon slowly looks down at the receipt, and something catches his eye.

It's obviously a number, and when Dallon looks at it closer, he can see a little note.

"Call me sometime, flower boy.
                                             -Brendon Urie <3"

Dallon smiles to himself and he slowly puts the
receipt down, as a blush coats his cheeks and a gentle sigh leaves his lips.
