5. A White Face

Hey, minna! Since a couple of you guys asked for a speedy update (wink;), I decided to be nice and update early, since I was pretty much already done with this chapter. But seriously, you guys have no idea how much your comments mean to me. Here's the next chapter of MAB! This chapter is dedicated to VexZello. Although she may not be reading this story, I still want to thank her for using her skills and talents to create this awesome book cover. Stay awesome!

After my secret meeting with Killua, I returned to my P.E. class. Everyone was just standing around, talking and nothing else. I guess they haven't started yet.

"There you are." Lizz said as she approached me. "Where have you been?"

Should I tell her about what Killua told me? No, he probably wanted our conversation to be a secret. Plus, she wouldn't understand half of it if I didn't understand it myself.

"I had to... stop and tie my shoes." I lied. I avoided making direct eye contact with her. "Both of them."

When I looked back, Lizz looked at me oddly, but then shrugged it off.

A minute later, coach Lee arrived with his clipboard in hand. "Sorry I'm late, everyone. Find a partner and start stretchin'." He concluded his instructions with a blow of his silver whistle, then everybody paired up.

Since everyone knew each other, it made sense that everyone would most likely pick their closest friends. The only two single people who remained were Alluka and Shane. "Hey, Lizz. Do you mind if you can pair up with Shane today?" I asked.

"Huh?"

"I kinda want to get to know the new girl. She seems pretty lonely." I tried to reason. Lizz was always a reasonable person.

As expected, she smiled and nodded her head. "Sure, okay. Hey, maybe we both can hang out with Alluka later. I want to get to know her too."

"Okay." Thank you, Lizz, for not letting me go through this alone! You are the perfect best friend.

I walked over to Alluka, who was looking nervously around for a partner. "Hi there." I greeted. Alluka turned her attention towards me and smiled.

"Um-hi-hello! My name's Alluka."

I couldn't help but giggle. She was actually kind of cute. "It's okay. I know who you are. My name is Yuki Sazuki. Do you wanna be friends?" I stuck my hand out.

Alluka blushed as her robotic hand shook mine. "H-hye!"

"Alrighty then. Let's do some stretching." I sat down and laid on my back with my legs bent skyward, knees together. I crossed my arms over my chest, and once Alluka secured her hands on my feet, I started to push up.

"So Alluka," I start as I laid back down and slowly pushing up again. "This is your first time going to a public school, right?"

"Mmhmm." Alluka nodded. Alluka seemed so nice and innocent. I would feel bad to take advantage of her for this, but if I can't get Killua to spill some beans, then maybe I could get Alluka to tell me something.

"So were both you and Killua homeschooled?" I dropped back down, then strenuously pulled myself back up, feeling the burn in my chest.

Alluka paused and hummed as she thought about it. "I was homeschooled for a while, but I'm not sure about Oniichan."

I reached all the way to knees and stopped to face her. "What do you mean?"

"I don't know what Oniichan did." She said innocently. "Hmm... maybe he was homeschooled."

"Maybe? You mean you've been living with this guy for how long and you don't even know?" How could she not know what sort of education he had. Didn't they had lessons together as kids, or didn't he ever say he was heading off to school?

"I didn't get to see Oniichan in a long time though..."

Alluka looked down, and her smile began to fade. She hasn't seen him? What did she mean?

"What do you mean? Did you parents had a divorce or something and you two were separated?"

She shook her head.

Now I felt bad. I didn't want to assume too soon, but maybe Killua and Alluka had a really sucky childhood. Not every kid could be happy. "Sorry. Was I getting too personal?" I asked, hoping I wasn't.

"No. It's okay." She pardoned. There could be a hundred reasons why Alluka hasn't seen Killua as kids, but when she said for a long time, how long did she mean? What kind of childhood did they had?

"Hey, since I've asked you something, you can ask me something too." I said cheerfully, trying to keep the atmosphere light. "That way we can both get to equally know each other."

Alluka's bright smile appeared again. "Okay! Um... what about you, Yuki-chan? Are your parents still together?"

I stopped on the ground. "No. My father died a long time ago."

"Oh... I'm sorry."

"It's okay." I said as I sat up straight. "My family and I are really happy. Well, most of the time. My little brother can be a real pain sometimes." I laughed. "What about you? Do you have any siblings?"

Alluka was quiet for a minute. "Alluka?"

"Yuki, can I stretch now?" She asked, suddenly avoiding my question.

"Uh, sure?" I said, as we changed positions. Maybe I was getting into a too personal topic.

Alluka tried to force herself up, but couldn't even lift her back off the ground. I could tell how hard she was struggling just by how much force I had to put into her feet to keep them down.

Maybe it was best that I shouldn't ask too many questions yet. After all, everyone has their own skeleton in a closet. Then that was when I remembered something important Killua told me. If Alluka makes any requests, come find me as soon as you can once you've completed the first request. When she asked me for her turn to stretch, did that count as a request? Should I go find Killua?

The coach's whistle blew again. "All right, everybody. We're going to do three laps around the track today. Let's go." With warm-ups over, Alluka sprawled on the ground exhausted. Maybe it was nothing to worry about. When the period is over, that's when I'll go find Killua. What's the worst that could happen?

******************************

It was lunch period, and since today was Wednesday, it was spaghetti day. I walked into the lunch line with Lizz and Alluka. During P.E., I learned that Alluka wasn't the athletic type by how she was running do slow, which gave her and Lizz the time to get to know each other. Although, like Killua, Alluka didn't give us any confidential information, but at least she was more fun and friendly to talk with.

I picked up a tray from the stack, Alluka following behind me, followed by Lizz. I picked up a milk carton and chocolate pudding, and let the lunch lady dump the Italian noodles on my plate as I moved down the isle. I was two people away from the cashier when Alluka tapped on my shoulder. "Yuki, can I cut in front of you?" She asked.

"What? No. We're almost to the front, you technically don't need to skip." Who did she think she was? Acting like a grade schooler.

"Awe, you won't let me skip?" She said in disappointment. "Then can I have your milk?" She asked.

I looked down at the milk that was on her tray. "But you have your own milk right there." I pointed out.

"Awe. You won't give me your milk?" She said again with that sad look. Was this what Killua wanted me to get him for? If I don't complete one of her requests she would keep asking?

"Then can I have your pudding?" She asked.

I thought about it for a moment, but then shrugged my shoulders. "Eh, why not." I said, then transferred my pudding to her tray. If this was what would keep Alluka's requests at bay, then I guess I should just oblige.

I faced forward and realized that the people in front if me were gone and I was holding up the line.

************************

The last bell rang, and all of the students were free for the end of the day. Well, everyone but Lizz. She told me that she had clean up duty after school, so it was just me and Alluka.

Alluka and I stood underneath the shade of a tree at the school front courtyard to wait for Killua.

Where is he? I was getting worried about Alluka's requests. She hasn't talked to me since lunch. Was this a normal thing with her, or was this a condition or something?

"Yuki, can I have you're phone number?" Alluka asked, holding her phone out.

"Uh... I guess..." There was no harm in doing that, so why not. Maybe next time I should also get Killua's number, just in case. I took her mobile device and punched in my number in her contacts. "All right, here you go."

I returned her back her phone, but when I looked up, I gasped and nearly dropped the phone. I wasn't sure whether I was hallucinating, or if this was a bad dream. Alluka was smiling at me, but it was a different smile, along with a different face. I wasn't even sure if the thing in front of me was even Alluka. She had a pale white face with no nose, only two back holes for eyes and her smile formed by black lips, almost as if the face itself was a mask.

My mouth gaped opened as I was about to scream in fear when someone quickly covered my mouth. "Shh!" The voice hissed. This sensation was familiar, and I recognized that voice. "Something, don't ever ask a request from Yuki again." Killua said.

"Aye." The white faced figure said, then she closed her eyes, and Alluka's face faded back to normal. When she opened her white eyes, tears began to form.

"I'm sorry, Killua." she sobbed as her hands tried to wipe the tears.

Killua took his hand back. "Something, I told you not to ask requests from anyone but me," he said sternly.

"She's sorry. It just slipped..." What was going on? What just happened? Why was Alluka crying? "I'm sorry, Yuki-chan. I'm sorry..."

I was lost. I didn't know what to say. "Uh, it's... okay Alluka. You don't have to be hard on yourself." I looked around, hoping for an explanation. "Could someone tell me what's going on?"

Before I knew it, I felt Killua's hand touch my neck, then everything blacked out.

What will happen next, now that Yuki has seen a glimpse of their world?
