35. The Three of Us... and Shiki
Hello, minna! Tomboy Trouble is back with another chapter of MAB! Important message in the end of the chapter. I dedicate this chapter to @KilluHunter. Thanks for reading, dude! I enjoyed reading your comments. I hope you'll enjoy this chapter. Stay awesome, minna! Trouble out.
A month has passed since the school field trip. I still haven't told Killua about my encounter with Kalluto, and I haven't seen Kalluto since then. I had no idea what happened to Kurapika, but after he left, I'm not sure if I could ever look at him the same way ever again. Every time I try to picture him, I see him with those red eyes full of hate. I wondered if he managed to find the rest of the Phantom Troupe and if he was okay. I've been paying attention to the news to see if anything about them came up, but things seemed quiet. I eventually gave up on that and resumed to my normal life.
A month has ended, which meant that today was freedom day. No more being grounded! After finishing the last problem of my math homework, I dropped my pencil and stretched out my arms and leaned back against my chair, feeling accomplished. "Finally!" I exhaled with a cheery smile. I wondered if it would be too much to ask my mom if I could hang out at Lizz's tonight. Although we see each other at school, it still felt like we haven't done anything in forever. Not that the school trip wasn't exciting enough. Honestly, I need the time to relax and have a quiet, peaceful life. I still wanted to do normal things with my friends, though. One month was too long of a break.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard my doorbell ring. I wasn't expecting company and mom was working a late shift. Could it be Rin's friends? I headed down stairs, thinking who it might be. Halfway down the stairs, I began imagining negative possibilities. Weird and dangerous things have been happening to me lately. What if it was bad company? What if it was Illumi back for revenge? What if Shiki finally decided to off me? No, she probably wouldn't do that... anymore. Maybe Kalluto's here to kill me? Why do so many people want to kill me nowadays?
Before I knew it, I was already at the door. Before looking though the peeping hole, I slid the chain in the door's lock to double the security. I peaked through the hole and saw Alluka and Lizz. Alluka was wearing a backpack while holding a sleeping bag.
"What?" I unlocked the locks and opened the door. "Hey, guys. What's going on? Is this a surprise slumber party?"
"Well... sort of," Lizz replied awkwardly.
"Onii-chan and Gon-kun went away for a few days. Is it okay if I can stay at your place?" Alluka asked.
"Away? A few days?! What are you talking about?" I asked in bewilderment. This was my first time hearing these things.
"She'll explain inside. Mind inviting us in?" Lizz implied with her hand in the door frame.
I nodded and lead them inside. They had no trouble coming to my room. As everyone got comfortable, Alluka began explaining. "Every year, Onii-chan and Gon-kun would go to Heaven's Tower to earn some money."
"Heaven's Tower? Isn't that like, a huge arena where fighters compete?" I recalled from memory.
"Yep. And I get so bored there because I never get to do anything but watch. It's like a bring-your-sibling-to-work day. So instead I asked Onii-chan if I could stay with you!"
"Killua didn't even bother to ask me before dropping you off at my house?!" I said in disbelief.
"Well, technically, my dad dropped us off," Lizz added.
"Same difference. Why didn't he tell me he was leaving? He didn't even say bye or anything!" This sounded so unlike him. He would never just drop his sister on me without letting me know in advance.
"He told me that he tried contacting you, but couldn't get through to you," Alluka defended.
"My phone has been quiet for days. I didn't receive any texts or calls from him."
Alluka tilted her head, confused, lifting her finger to her chin. "That's strange... Anyways, is it okay if I can stay here for three days?"
I scratched the back of my head unsure. It sounded a bit too much to ask of my mom after I just got done being grounded. "I don't mind, but why not stay at Lizz's house?"
"My folks are currently repainting the living room and loft. I don't want Alluka to be bothered by it, and I also don't want to bother my parents with a guest."
I also thought about Shiki as on option, but it just struck my mind that I have no idea where she lives. Does she even plan on staying in this city temporarily or permanently? Either way, I didn't trust Alluka to live with her. Shiki could poison Alluka's mind with lies, or manipulate her for her own wishful thinking. I sighed, for there was no other choice. "I still have to ask my mom. I'm not sure if I'm completely off the hook yet."
"Yeah, sure! I don't mind."
While Alluka and Lizz talked amongst each other, I made a phone call to mom. Surprisingly, she didn't sound bothered by it. She didn't sound annoyed or reluctant about it, she just agreed.
I hung up and regrouped with my friends. "So you got everything you need? Toothbrush, clothes, your school stuff, cosmetics..."
"Yep!" Alluka nodded optimistically. "I even brought my own sleeping bag so that I won't have to sleep on the couch."
"All right. You can sleep here in my room." I sighed in disappointment. "I still can't believe Killua's suddenly left, and right when I'm not grounded anymore too.
In my moping, Lizz wrapped her arm around my shoulder and pulled me in. "Hey, at least us girls can hang out. No boys to bother us. We should take advantage of-" Suddenly, Lizz paused, then her mouth gaped in a wide opened smile. "Ooohhh! I. Have. An. Idea." Her eyes glimmered with excitement as she bounced up and down vigorously. Her bouncing while keeping me arm-bound was making me uncomfortable, so I slipped away from her hold.
"What? What idea?"
"Christmas is coming! Which means we should go buy gifts for them!" Lizz stated as she clapped her hands as if it was the most genius thing she had ever said.
"Buy gifts? Isn't that a bit too early? It's not even winter break yet."
"Exactly!" Lizz held up a finger. "We should buy them their gifts before the actual Christmas shopping so that when we all go again together, they won't see what we got them because we would already have them. They told us not to get them anything so we'll make it seem like it. It would be an absolute surprise!"
"That doesn't sound too bad," Alluka said as she rolled her sleeping bag open across my floor.
It did sound like a not bad idea, but I was still unsure about what to get Killua. I wasn't even sure if he would want anything. After all, he said he didn't celebrate Christmas. "Say, Alluka. What are your thoughts on Christmas?"
She was already halfway into the sleeping bag when I asked her. "Oh, I think it's the most wonderful time of the year! The weather is nice, the festivities look fun, and Onii-chan gets me something every year." She zipped the bag closed up to her stomach so that she could still sit up with arms free and rested at her sides.
"Really? I thought you guys don't celebrate Christmas," I added curiously.
"We really don't, but that doesn't stop him from getting me gifts," she winked.
"That's cool. So what do you usually give him?" I asked, hoping that she would give me some sort of clue on what to look for.
"What?" Alluka asked with a blank expression.
"You know," Lizz intervened. "When someone gives you a gift, you also give a gift back to that person."
"I thought Christmas was all about receiving presents," Alluka stated innocently with a frown. "Isn't that the whole point of having a holiday that isn't your birthday?"
Lizz slapped her forehead with her palm as I stood there gawking awkwardly. "Uh, well... Christmas is a religious holiday, actually, but Christmas isn't all about presents. It's about spending time with the ones you love. And they say the best gift of all is the gift of giving?" I turned for help from Lizz who was practically trying not to laugh. It was like explaining Christmas to a five-year old. Well, they don't celebrate it but I would expect Alluka to know what it was. Either Killua didn't know what the holiday was about either, or he had been lying to her all this time to mess with her.
"Well, I already spend time with Onii-chan all the time..." She held her chin as she thought about it, then she slammed her fist in her palm out of sudden realization. "Wait a minute! So all this time I should've been giving my brother a Christmas present too?!" She then started sobbing dramatically in her hands. "All this time I've only been giving Onii-chan a present once a year! I'm a horrible sister!"
Lizz and I felt conflicted and too awkward at the sight. We instantly comforted her, rubbing her on the back. "Hey, it's okay," Lizz cooed. "Don't worry. Tomorrow after school, we'll go shopping. And you'll give your big bro the best Christmas present he'll ever receive."
"Did somebody say shopping?"
Alluka stopped crying as we all turned our heads toward the voice. To no surprise, it was Shiki, squatting halfway through my window, which she can apparently open now. "What are you doing here?" Lizz put out bluntly with a flat expression.
"I was just in the neighborhood, and I got bored. Killua and his friend are out of town, so I got no where else to go."
"You knew about Killua's outing too?" How could Shiki know and not me? Then again, Shiki was also Killua's stalker. He might have not necessarily told her himself.
She stepped inside. "Of course. I'm not sure if you noticed yet, but I switched our numbers on his contacts list a while ago," she gloated as she waved her phone in front of my face.
"You WHAT?!" I yelled. I made an attempt to grab her phone, but she swiftly pulled it away. I urged forward to reach for it as she pushed me back at the same time. "No wonder I didn't hear from him in forever!"
Shiki looked down at her screen disappointed. "I think he caught on to me, though, because he hasn't replied back."
By some sort of chance, I managed to snatch her phone away a tried to read Killua's messages to her. "Honestly, you are unbelievable..."
"Oh, please. You were grounded from you phone privileges. It's not like you needed it."
"Doesn't mean I don't like reading his messages. You don't do that, Shiki. It's private."
Shiki simply rolled her eyes. "Anyways, you guys said something about shopping, right? I want in."
Lizz chuckled and crossed her arms. "You tag along with us? Ha! That's a big fat-"
"Sure," Alluka interrupted. Lizz and I were both dumbfounded by her quick decision making. How is it that she hasn't caught on yet that Shiki was a bad person? The only reason that she may not see it is because Alluka was the only person Shiki actually saw as a fiend.
"Excuse us," Lizz said as she grabbed on to my shoulder, as well as Alluka's, pulling her out of her sleeping bag. "We're gonna have a quick meeting if you don't mind." Shiki didn't seem to care given by her silence. Lizz dragged Alluka and I out of my room into the hallway, closing the door. "Alluka, what were you thinking? Why would you let her join us?
Alluka shrugged. "Well, why not?"
"I'll give you three reasons why not. One, she's out to get Yuki. Two, she's madly in love with your brother. And three, she's a total snob."
Alluka frowned, but looked at us sincerely. "Look, you guys. I know she may not have the best personality, but maybe if we spend some more time with her, maybe we'll understand her better. Maybe she'll change. Let's give her a chance."
Lizz shook her head. "Nah-uh. No way. Besides, she never really hangs around us unless you or Killua are present."
"She can also be helpful to finding the right gift for Onii-chan," Alluka said more persuasively.
That did sound intriguing. Shiki has known Killua for a long time, therefore she might know about his interests that I may not know of. Possibly a favorite book series, video game, or movie. However, I still did not trust Shiki's judgements. She may think she knows Killua, but she doesn't know him like I do. "Mmm... I don't think so, Alluka."
"Welp, you hear her. There's no need for Shiki to come along," Lizz said casually with her hands up in a sarcastic expression of defeat.
"C'mon, guys. Don't you think everyone deserves second chances?" She looked at us with wide puppy dog eyes with her curled hands close to her pouting, quivering lip. Just her cute stare was enough to make me melt. Lizz and I both exchanged looks, but unable to read each other's minds. I have already given Shiki plenty of chances in the past, although I still haven't held up the end of my deal about helping her make friends. She has been very hostile toward our other classmates. Despite how she treats us, we seem to be the only people she is comfortable talking to. Maybe she was shy talking to other people, being around normal students for the first time. I wondered if it was the same for Alluka. If Lizz and I haven't stepped in, would she have ended up being lonely?
"Urrrrhhhhhhokay! She can come with us," I gave into defeat.
"Yay!" Alluka cheered while clapping her hands.
Lizz placed a hand in my shoulder, shaking her head. "Sometimes you are such a big pushover."
I shrugged. "What can I say. I'm too kind for my own good," I said half heartedly.
Lizz giggled and patted me on the back as she started at my door. "Let's just hope Shiki's got cash on her"

The cab dropped us off a few feet from the front entrance of the shopping mall. As we all stepped out, Alluka paying the cabdriver, Shiki suddenly made a tight grip on my arm. She pulled me close, looking hostile. "We got trouble," she whispered.
My heart began to race. "What? Here? Now? What is it?" I looked around to see what seemed wrong. So far, nothing seemed out of place. Did she sense a strong enemy near by?
"Use your eyes dimwit, and look at the doors." When I looked toward the entrance, which all I saw were two ordinary mall security guards standing by at the doors. "This place is compromised. We're gonna have to find another way in..."
Lizz gently slapped Shiki on her back, earning a look of annoyance. "No, you idiot. They're just the mall's security. Haven't you ever been to a mall before?"
"Why would a public shopping center need bodyguards?" Shiki inquired, pointing at the guards. I immediately pulled her arm down, trying not to draw too much attention to ourselves.
"Probably to protect citizens from maniacs like you." Lizz stated as she and Alluka started heading forward.
"Pffft!" I held back a laugh, trying not to offend Shiki in any way. "That reminds me, you didn't bring any weapons, did you?"
"I would be a fool to not," Shiki retorted, keeping her purse protectively cradled in her arms.
"Well, cough them up. You won't need them today." I stuck out my hand firmly for her to give up her purse. She shook her head and pulled her bag away farther back. I strongly cleared my throat and darted my stare into her eyes. I held onto that stare for a few more seconds, not backing down now matter how much she stared back, until she finally sighed and pulled out her kunai from her purse, placing it in my hand. "All of it." She groaned with an eye roll and surrendered her whole purse. The minute she let go of her bag on top of my hand, the weigh was so unexpectedly heavy that I nearly dropped it if it weren't for the strap getting caught over my fingers. I checked the guards just in case they haven't noticed us. I moved over to a nearby trash can and tossed the blade inside.
"Uh! Hey!" Shiki whined, rushing to the garbage can to take it out.
"Oh, get over it," Lizz said, coming back with Alluka. "You can always get new ones." I opened the flap of the purse and was surprised by all the pretty impressive weapons and other items I would see in either a military shop or an anime store. I threw in three more kunai knives in the bin, four four-bladed shurikens, a smoke bomb, a flash bomb, a sheathed dagger, and some sort of ninja paper inscribed in a different language. Lizz' eyes widened the more I added into the wastes.
"Geez, girl! Are you planning storming a castle today?"
"Maaayyyybe," Shiki replied lightly with her eyes up. I wasn't sure if she was playing around or being half serious.
I gave one more clean sweep through her belongings. What remained was her wallet, cell phone, a nail filer, a mirror, and a lipstick. I took out the lipstick and eyed it suspiciously. "Hmmm..." I opened and twisted it, revealing the rose-red tip of the make up. As I twisted it the other way and continued twisting it, a small, shining blade pulled clicked out from the bottom. I guess this stick had more than one way of making lips red. I looked at Shiki, who just shrugged. "I'll just hold on to this," I said as I retracted the blade back inside and shoved the disguised weapon in my pocket. Maybe if she behaved, I would give it back.
"If you're done invading my privacy," Shiki sassed, like she was one to talk, "let's go inside already."
Lizz and Alluka casually went ahead of us. With her strong grip on my arm, we walked together slowly toward the entrance. Shiki didn't take her eyes the guards for a second. The security smiled and nodded at us as we proceeded. I smiled and nodded back, trying to clear away the tension Shiki was giving. Once inside, I let out sigh. "You can let go of my arm, now."
Shiki immediately did so. "Psh, whatever. I just wanted to make you feel safe, is all." She scanned the stores, and for a second there, she seemed awed, but then reverted back to being chilled. "So, uh... where's the girls' clothes section?"
Lizz and Alluka looked at each other, and Alluka giggled. "Have you ever find shopping in your life?" Lizz asked.
"Of course I have!" Shiki snapped back. "Just... always online. And I've never gone to a big indoor marketplace before."
"Well, there are over twenty stores here where you can look for clothes. C'mon, we'll start at my favorite store." Lizz grabbed Shiki by the hand with a smile, and for the first time, Shiki did not pull away, refuse or argue. With surprise, she actually complied. Lizz even looked genuinely happy to show Shiki around.
We started out in Lizz's favorite store and progressed from there. Alluka, Lizz and I bought a couple of clothes and accessories, but Shiki still hasn't bought anything yet. She either took her time unsure whether to buy an item only to turn it down, or stated that it was not her taste in fashion. After blowing through three retail stores, Alluka showed Shiki where she likes to buy her yukatas, which definitely hooked Shiki's interest. Both Alluka and Shiki ended up buying a kimono. Lizz and I just tagged along and watched them put on robes because we could never afford them.
We later found ourselves in the arcade. Lizz challenged Shiki to a game of Dancing Revolution, which was interesting because Lizz was a Class S dancer in the game. She even broke a high score once. When the music started, Shiki had a rough start at first, but as soon as she got the rhythm down, she made a perfect step on every falling arrow, driven by the motivation to beat Lizz at her game. It was like watch Lizz dance next to a mirror. I've never seen anyone match up to Lizz. In the end, Lizz won, but Shiki made an incredible come back.
"Wow! That was amazing, you guys!" I complimented.
Shiki panted, exhausted from the dancing, and probably too ashamed from defeat.
"Hey," Lizz said as she lightly punched Shiki in the shoulder. "You did great."
With a heavy laugh, Shiki wiped the sweat off her forehead. "Great? I'd say I did excellent for my first try. When we get a rematch, I'll definitely win."
"Hah! We'll see."
"Awe, man!" Alluka groaned from the other side of the room. She was facing a crane machine with her palms sliding down on the clear glass.
We walked over to her with little concern. "What's up, Alluka?" I asked, patting her on the back. "Having tough luck?"
Alluka turned around, pointing at a stuffed wale swimming in the pond of plush toys. "This thing is rigged, I tell you! I've already tried three times and I still can't get that wale to move. If Oniichan were here, he would probably get it..."
"Killua? Hah! Who needs Killua when you got a pro like me? Scooch aside." Shiki lightly shoved Alluka out of the way, inserting her charge into the coin slot. The machine reacted and the timer started counting down from twenty seconds. The crane moved and automatically moved around over the wale.
"Just a little more... you can do it," Alluka cheered on nervously.
"A little more to the left," I said.
"No, move back more," Lizz insisted.
"Would you two shut up? I'm trying to concentrate," Lizz said, annoyed. With only scene seconds left, Shiki pressed the button, which dropped the claw. It opened wide and touched the top of the whale's back, and limply leaned over. As the line began retracting itself, the claw made a tight grip around the waist of the mammal. The crane slowly pulled the whale up. We all got excited but tried to keep it maintained, for there was still the final stretch left. The whale looked like it was falling as it slipped through the metal claw, being seized at the end of its tail. Lizz and Alluka stared closer intensely with their mouths gaped open. Was it going to fall?
The whale wiggled and nudged centimeters by every millisecond and it looked like it was gonna lose its grip, until at the final moment, the claw opened and the whale dove into the box. We all freaked out, jumping and screaming with joy as if we won a gold medal. Shiki pushed her hand in the square compartments and pulled out the prize. "Ta~daaa!" Shiki song-sang. Alluka gladly accepted the gift and gave Shiki one of her biggest hugs I've ever seen, smothering the stuffed toy between them.
"Ohhh! Shiki' got mad skills!" Lizz complimented with her hand up.
"The magic touch!" Shiki fired back. Spontaneously, they both slapped each other's hands loudly, smiling at each other. The two then paused, staring at each other in odd, probably thinking how strange it was for the two of them to get along so well. It was nice seeing those two getting along for a change. Maybe Shiki had a nice side of her after all. I did not want this moment to end. I looked around and spotted a familiar booth with a black curtain.
"Hey, look over there!" I pointed at the box. "Let's all take a picture together."
Shiki turned toward the photo booth curiously. "What is that?"
I giggled as I rolled my eyed my eyes at her. "What are you, born yesterday? C'mon, we'll show you." I held her arm and started leading her in, but she resisted.
"Nah, I'm good," she said sheepishly, pulling her arms away. She had nowhere to run, however, because Lizz and Alluka had already l blocked her escape routes. Mischievous grins curving on their faces.
"Aw, come on, now. Don't be shy."
"Yeah, Shiki-chan."
"W-what? No! Get away from me!" With all three of us together, we forced Shiki into the booth and squeezed in behind her, closing the black curtain for privacy.
***
Shiki looked down at the four-squared photo strip while butting into her ice cream. "This is lame..." she said in disappointment. "You guys look so goofy while I look so awkward."
Lizz swallowed the last bite of her ice cream cone and wiped her mouth before responding. "That's what you get for not paying attention to the count down."
"They say a genuine expression makes the best pictures," I added to cheer her up. I looked down at my copy of our group photos. "At least we're all smiling together in the last one."
Alluka looked over my shoulder to look at the picture. "Don't forget to print out copies so that I can have one." She was so busy looking at the picture that she didn't notice her popsicle was dropping over my shoes as we walked to the exit.
"Hey! Alluka, your ice cream! Watch it," I complained as I distanced myself, making sure she didn't get any ice cream on the photo either.
"Oops! Sorry," she apologized before sucking the melted juices of the ice cream. She was a bit of a mess as she carried three shopping bags with a whale tucked under her arm pit.
We walked out of the doors, kindly nodding to the security guards. To my surprise, Shiki nodded back with a polite smile. She really changed today, acting like normal teenage girl.
"Ya know, I'm really glad you came with us," I said as I smiled at her with the most sincere.
"Huh?" She looked up from the picture at me and nodded. "Uh, yeah. Me too. Today was... fun."
"Hey," Lizz began. "Don't take this the wrong way, but for someone I assumed to be rich and travel a lot, you don't really get out much, do you?"
Shiki turned toward Lizz without a word, then looked back down at the photo. She seemed really fixated at it. "It IS kinda strange, isn't it? I've taken jobs almost all around the world, but I barely get to see any of it. Whenever I go out on missions, I only focus on my targets and pay less attention to other things around me. I ignore the people who have no relevance of anything important. I was taught that distractions should be blocked out, because they would only get in the way. As long as I follow orders, as long as I behave, and as long as I work hard, I would always get what I want. But today was... different." She carefully placed the photo ticket in her purse and faced us with an indescribable expression. She wasn't smiling, but she didn't sound sad either. "So, um... thank you for today."
"Well, no problem, Shiki," I said, not sure what to say after all of that. Maybe o have misjudged Shiki. Like Killua, she had been misguided from birth and just needs friends to help her perspective in life. I feel sorry for these guys. They missed out on all the fun things to experience in childhood and they can only make up for it now in their adolescence.
"So can I have my lipstick back?" Shiki held her palm up at me.
"Oh, right!" I said in remembrance. I shoved my hand in my pocket, but felt nothing. I looked down as I check my other pant's pocket. Empty. "Huh?!" I frantically checked the pockets of my jacket and compartments in my purse. The lipstick was gone. My heart began to thump harder with the thought of telling Shiki that I lost something of hers. "I'm sorry, Shiki. I think it might've slipped out while we were in the photo booth."
Shiki sighed in reluctance as her shoulders dropped. "Really? Fine, I'll go get it. I'll be back in a sec." she turned around and went back through the glass doors.
I turned to my two best friends guilty. "Man, I feel bad. This day was going so well too."
"Psh, its fine," Lizz assured while throwing her hand down. "It's not a big deal, you forget about stuff all the time."
I giggled lightly. Maybe I was thinking too hard and making a big deal out of nothing. After all, Shiki didn't seem TOO upset, compared to the other times she overreacted. "Well, not ALL the time. The only times I usually forget something is whe-" Suddenly, I had this shock of realization in my head. "Uhhhg, I'm such an idiot! How could I forget the reason we came here?!"
The reason why we wanted to go to the mall in the first place was to get Killua and Gon something for Christmas, but instead we treated it as a girl's day out. How could we have gone out shopping and not once thought about them?
Alluka gasped in utter astonishment, dropping the rest of her popsicle. "And I just spent 560 Jenny on a kimono! I really am selfish!"
"Oh crap..." Lizz muttered, kicking at the side walk.
This was our chance to secretly get the guys gifts without them around and we blew it. "This day cannot get any worse."
A blue van that was above moderate speed suddenly came to a halt in front of us, creating a screeching sound between the pavement and the rubber tires. We all stared at it in wonder as the side door slid open. One big, oddly obese-shaped guy came out of the vehicle, wearing a thick jacket, with gloves covering his skin and a hat and scarf to cover most of his face.
"Guys, run!" Lizz shouted, pulling me by the arm, almost causing me to trip. It was so quick that I was still processing what was going on. Why did she yell?
"Now!" Someone from inside the van shouted. Before we knew it, there was a muffled eruption followed by an outburst of emitted green gas from the large figure. The smell was putrid and almost unbearable. I coughed and tried fanning it away, but it was everywhere from left to right. It was getting into my eyes. I couldn't see.
I could hear everyone else coughing and the security from outside the stink cloud making a commotion. "What's... going on?" I said between coughs. I could barely see anything through this thick cloud of gas. No, wait. My eyelids were getting heavy. Is this sleeping gas? Am I about to pass out?"
"Hurry up!" The bodiless voice urged.
"Which one do I pick?" A not so sure second voice said.
"It's two of the three. Just pick any of them!"
I heard a thump next to me. I looked down to see a stuffed whale, and followed that to see an arm on the ground. "Allu...ka?" I dropped down to my knees and just gave up fighting it. I let my body lie down on the cold concrete ground. All I wanted was between losing my sense of smell or falling asleep. Gunshots exploded, but they weren't really loud. They sounded as if they fired through twenty layers of pillows. I looked up at the big shadow over me before closing my eyes completely, losing all sense of sound.
