PkStarBound and I were having a conversation on how the unused boss in Mother 3 is really dark and disturbing, and I also explained some theories I had like the two figures (the robot and angel) represent Claus' two states of mind; the angel represents how he was before, and the robot represents what he became due to Porky's torture.
