Elemental Royals: part 2

In the Wind Kindom, things were far more cheerful and laid back. The King was loved dearly by all his subjects, and he never wore a frown upon his face.

The kingdom was always warm and sunny, with the exception of a stray cloud from the eastern Kindom of Storms.

The common people learned how to use the breeze to their advantage and use gliders to fly wherever they needed to go instead of trekking across the earth for miles at a time.

Life was peaceful in the Kingdom of Wind and many believed it would stay that way, including the King.

But fate always has other plans...

~~Luna's pov~~

"Luna? Luna dear, where are you?" My boyfriend, The king, called out for me. I lay high on a ceiling banister, not really wanting any of his nonsense today. Dont get me wrong, I love him. But sometimes I just need a break from the lovey-dovey talk and excessive cuddles.

I look down at him for a split second and sneak out of the skylight above me. I climb my way to the roof and look out at the city. The view was okay, I guess. I would much rather be living in the city than In the castle, but I don't want to hurt Matt's, aka the King, feelings. He's too pure and innocent for that.

I jump off of the roof, the gentle breeze fills the wings of my glider and carries me to the city.

The city was practically built on cliffs and tall natural stone towers. It would be practically impossible to get anywhere without gliders. I land near a fountain and just watch the water flow from the spouts. I sit on the wall of the fountain and play with the small pool of water.

I sigh and smile a bit, this was nice. At least out here I can be myself. The castle was always a little too stuffy for my liking. I mean, Matt had done everything withing his power to make sure that I'm comfortable and happy living with him, but just the freedom of being in the city is a feeling like no other. There's no expectation to uphold, no servants, no constant questions about how mine and Matt's relationship is going and if we are planning to be married soon. It's just peaceful. Heck I could call asleep out here and no one would really care.

~~Matt's pov~~

Oh dear, she's hiding from me again. I sigh and go back to my throne, feeling like an idiot. Maybe I should give her space sometimes. She has told me in the past that I'm a little clingy.

I take the silver crown off my head and look at it. It was perfect, just like how my subjects see me. They believe that a man with the elemental power is somehow a god. I mean, I love my people and they love me, but I am still just a man. No matter how they see me, I will still make mistakes sometimes...

I sigh and put my crown back on. Maybe I should send a guard or a spy to find Luna, just to make sure she's alright. I would be devastated if anything happened to my little Starlight. But then again, she may think I'm being too controlling by keeping watch of her 24/7. Goodness, why do women have to be so complicated?

~~Luna's pov~~

It had been a few hours since I left the castle, the sun was setting and I was getting bored.

"ugh, I should head back. Matt's probably worried about-" before I could finish what I said, I heard screaming and people running and or gliding away from something. I look up and see the figure of a dragon flying above the city. My eyes widen at the sight. I run back to the castle, trying not to get in the way of other people running away.  As I run, I smell smoke in the air. The dragon must have set some part of the city of fire. I throw open the doors to the throne room and rush over to Matt.

"Matt! There's a-"

"not now, Dearest. I'm speaking with my Adviser." Matt interrupted.

"Besides, women aren't allowed to speak when the King is in a meeting." Andres, the adviser, said somewhat rudely.

"Wha- There's a Dra-" I try to repeat myself

"Luna, please." Matt stopped me once again. "Go ahead, Andres." I was about to go up and slap him and Andres. I hated sexist behavior. Suddenly, a man burst in through the doors and ran up to the king.

"your highness! There's a dragon in the kingdom!"

"What?! a dragon?!" Matt said as he stood up from his throne

"That's what I was going to tell you!" I say somewhat angrily.

"Why didn't you say so, Sweetheart? Summon the guards to form a hunting party. Take down the dragon."

"Yes, your highness." Andres said with a little bow and rushed off to assemble the finest men of the guard. In all honesty, they're sometimes more air headed than Matt.

~~No one's pov~~

The guards assembled on the nearest flight deck of the castle. Armed with bows and arrows. Matt had forbidden Luna from joining the hunt.

Luna felt like it was on unfair, she was the one who told Matt about the Dragon so why couldn't she join the guards? She sat on her windowsill, pouting a little bit

"stupid sexist society... all the guards are idiots. I can take down that Dragon myself if I wanted to."

But then she had an idea, why couldn't she go? Matt maybe the king, but he's still not the boss of her. She could sneak out and get ahead of the guards before they even see it.

She smiled and hopped off of her windowsill and ran to her closet. She hid her bow there so Matt wouldnt know she had it. She reached for the quiver, and saw that there was only one arrow left.

"Dammit, I thought I bought more of these."

She slung the quiver onto her back. With her bow clenched in her fist, she opened her window and glided down to where the guards were.

"Hey guys, Ready to slay a dragon?" She said as she walked up to the group of men.

" 'Ey, Why're you here? I thought the king said you couldn't come." Said one of the guards in a condescending manner. The other guards turn to her to see what the fuss is about.

"Oh, well, um, you see, His Highness changed his mind. I can come with you guys now!" She says as convincing as she could. The guards look at each other for a moment and shrug

"Well, if the king says it's all right..." it's a good thing these guys are idiots.

"Let's go men! We gotta dragon to kill. And let the best man slay it." The captain said as he ran off the flight deck and jumped into the air gliding over the city. As did the rest of the guards.

"Or woman! Let's not ignore women here!" Luna said as she followed the guards.

The group of men didn't even know where to start looking for the Dragon, Luna saw it flying overhead, across the mountains. She smirked and flew away from the formation of guards and quickly flew behind the beast. As she got a better look at the dragon, the less and less it actually looked like a dragon.

"What the hell type of dragon is that?"

She pulled the last arrow from the quiver and placed it in her bow. She had once chance. She pulled back the string and lined it up with her target. She took a breath and let the arrow loose. It few through the air and struck thr beast in the stomach. It began to fall downward. It fell until it crash on the ground with a small explosion.

Luna flew down to inspect the not-so-dragon-like beast. She landed on the ground and folded the wings of her glider back. She walked through the wreckage, seeing no flesh or blood. This was obviously not a living thing. But something staggered out of the fire. Luna held up her bow, ready to clobber whoever this was.

The man had blonde hair, a leather coat, and goggles covering his brown eyes. He fell onto his knees and coughed. Luna, in a state of shock, went up to him and helped him up

"Hey, its gonna be okay."

"Th-thank you..." the man managed to say.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Aaron..."
