I'm bad with time, whoops

Almost forgot this was due today, heh.

Reddawn_TwilightClan My entry for your contest =D

I'm sorry idk what I was doing >~< It's not a scene from the story, and it's certainly not in proportion (mostly because I didn't know how to do it right), but I hope it's still okay.

Annnnnyyyyyways, the story-

—•—•— Aurora's point of view —•—•—

I sighed, looking for flaws in my work. A perfectly crafted illusion was difficult to create, not to mention it was a dragon. A bit of a fatal flaw, trying to do precise details like scales, though I'd never admit it to anyone.

It wasn't the first dragon I had tried to make, and I could see wasn't going to be the last. The wings were uneven, the claws all crooked, the scales quite oddly placed. And this wasn't even created on the spot- I'd been sitting here for over an hour.

Wanting to create the perfect dragon illusion wasn't just an oh-I'm-bored task. I wanted an adventure- wanted to go somewhere, and where better than a crazy dragon world where everyone seemed to be fighting?

Well, that was the most up to date description I'd received. Something about Sandwings and Nightwings and dragonets of destiny. Sounded almost as crazy as that cat world I'd heard of with clans and stars that were on fire.

The normal life of someone who knew a world traveler. Especially one like Tara- she dragged me everywhere. This was one journey I'd decided to do alone, though.

"Auroraaaaaaaa!" Tara sang, bursting into my workplace. I looked back and glared at her as she threw her arms around the neck of the dragon I'd created.

"Did you go without me and get this beauty from Pyrrhia?" She said in mock anger. "How could you?"

I sighed for the fiftieth time that day. "No, it's obviously an illusion, and I'm not going to Pyrrhia or whatever anytime soon-"

"At least you got the name right. Anyways, we're going now instead!" She said, grabbing my arm. A second later I felt the spinning sensation in my head as we switched worlds, my eyes snapping shut. Wasn't there a better way to world travel, one that didn't give me a headache?

I blinked a few times as I adjusted to the darkness of wherever we were. "Tara?"

"Right here." She said. I realized she was still holding onto my arm, instantly feeling dumb. I wasn't a big fan of the dark, though.

"What was that for? I wasn't even prepared!" I hissed.

"You do better under pressure." She said simply, letting go of my arm. My eyes had adjusted a bit, so I could see her shadowy figure creeping forward. I could make out a round exit too, following her towards it.

"I don't see- Ah!" She stumbled as I tapped her on the back and turned to face me. I raised an eyebrow.

"Do you know where we are?" I asked bluntly.

"No. But that just adds to the fun!" She said cheerily. I rolled my eyes and pushed past her, stumbling a bit myself over the weird floor. I reached down, brushing my fingertips across it. It felt kind of like... Paper?

Moving to the exit, my eyes widened. We were in a cave so big I couldn't even see where it ended. It was just a looming wall of darkness all around. And right above was-

"Tara? Is that a dragon claw?" I squeaked. It wasn't my fault I was scared- It was a dragon claw, hanging down right above me!

"Do you really need to ask?" Tara pointed out. "Haven't you been staring at dragon pictures for ages?"

I rolled my eyes again, my attitude quickly coming back. "So, um, what now?"

"I think-" She paused as the papery walls around us shook and we stumbled away from the arched entrance.

They shook once again, and suddenly we were tumbling onto a rough surface- not paper this time, but it felt weird, almost like the dragon scales I'd tried hard to recreate.

A roar suddenly shook the air around us, and we were blasted with hot dragon breath as I realized where we sat.

"Tara? Can we please go back?" I whispered, staring terrified at the giant snout that loomed out of the darkness.

"No! This is where stuff gets exciting!" She replied, though there was a slight waver to her voice.

"Pretty please? I can't understand dragon speak, but I think it might eat us."

"It's a he." She said with an eye roll (Hey, being sassy was my thing!). "At least that's what it sounds like to me."

"And you can understand dragon speak how exactly?"

"Oh, I forgot- here's some weird futuristic translated I got from- I didn't know how I'd get them to communicate XD Just go with it) Actually, I seem to only have one."

"Give it here- You'll probably come back to this world some other time anyways."

"So will you, if you're not so stubborn." Tara said, passing the earpiece over. I slipped it on carefully, frowning at the weird static that was coming through it.

"Is this thing-" I jumped at the loud voice that rang through my ear, yanking it off. I didn't even notice what the voice had said, but she was right- It did sound deep and more masculine.

Tara sighed, yanking it back and adjusting something on it before handing to back to me. I grabbed it quickly, partly due to impatience and partly due to excitement- It's not everyday you get to talk to a dragon.

"Can you hear me?" I said, a hint of excitement showing in my voice.

Tara let out a laugh, causing me to give her a glare. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing, nothing, it's all so exciting though, isn't it?" She said, giving me a knowing look. I sighed, but there was a smile on my face as I turned back to the dragon. Faint light illuminated it's- sorry, his face now so I could see beyond his large snout to his curious, glittering black eyes. I could see the varied shades of orange on his scales as well.

"You're gigantic." Was the first thing that came out of my mouth.

"You're so tiny." He said. "I can't believe you managed to wake me up- though I'm not surprised Rain is still asleep. He could sleep through anything. I better talk quietly though, just in case. Anyways, I'm Soleil." My smile grew slightly, before I furrowed me eyebrows with a realization- I knew how I could understand him, but could he understand me?

"He can't understand you, by the way." Tara stated, as if she had read my mind. "I'm afraid I don't have a translator fit for dragon ears."

"I've seen something like you before at Queen Ruby's palace- you're a scavenger. I don't think you can understand me. One of my friends said it's because scavenger brains are so tiny." The dragon rambled. I really wished he could understand me right back, considering he'd be getting a whole lot of attitude and wit from me.

"Don't worry, I won't eat you- I'm not a big fan of that stuff. I might save you for Queen Ruby, though- I'm working to become her right talon soldier." He continued.

"Tara, maybe we should go before we get eaten." I said, part of my brain wary while the other part was preoccupied thinking of all the witty phrases I had in my arsenal.

"Sure you don't want to take notes for your dragon illusions though?" She asked.

"Quite sure. Actually, I want to try something first though...." Concentrating hard, I imagined dozens of large beetles climbing up his legs, tickling his scales, and being a general nuisance. Opening my eyes and wearing a evil smirk, I was met with his obviously confused face.

"What's that on my scale.... AH! Rain! Help!" He let out quite the shriek (which was piercing considering he was a giant dragon right near me) dropping Tara and I as he swatted at the beetles.

Realizing I was now falling through air, I wished I had thought that through a bit. Luckily, Tara grabbed my arm as we fell, and in a moment my eyes were shut and the headache sensation was back.

Maybe I would go back there. Preferably with a dragon sized translator so I could give those dragons a piece of my mind- And maybe with my illusion powers ready to give out a few more scares.

So, yeah, that's it =P I'm sorry if I messed up on details like who shares a cave with whom, or whether Soleil would be scared of giant beetles, or whether... I don't know, I hope you enjoyed reading it though. Also, I'm sorry if the ending and the actual meeting was rushed, stuff started happening irl while I was writing and... Yeah. Real life is not that great right now.
