Yay I finished it! :D

I sketched and inked it during the school week, so I'm not sure how long that took, but all the  coloring and effects I did today took roughly ten hours. A regular inked and colored drawing only takes three to five hours, so the total time  of this one likely tripled or quadrupled my drawing time. But I had so much fun working on this! Every little detail makes me so happy. Dude I hardly even noticed time passing.

I saw some of Hiromu Arakawa's colored art for Fullmetal Alchemist, and I really liked it. It inspired me to want to make high quality and interesting drawings of my characters. And in science we're studying gems, and liking the LLSIF birthstone set and houseki no kuni AND drawing sparkly things, drawing my characters with birthstone themed outfits was obvious. Plus drizznee and Ecko are just so cuuuutee

I decide based on their personalities which constellation zodiac they have, then I pick a date

Every single freaking gem has a sparkle, I kid you not. Even the ones that are so tiny they're just dots have sparkles

So many of my colored pencils are really sharp now because sharpness equals quality 

I tried to make most everything on the outfits match their birthstonnes. Some parts of the image don't look super coordinated though, which bugs me, but I'm overall very happy with this one

If you're wondering about the weird black and white crystals on their collarbonish areas, those are their family crests. I've drawn Ecko with his but I'm usually too lazy to draw the swords. They don't really have last names, technically, but they pass down their family crests through the fathers, which symbolize like a craft or value their family has. They also name the crests and use those like last names, so it's actually Drizznee Blazeforge and Ecko Crossblades. Some characters don't typically wear theirs, like Oria (Restingeye). But they are typically worn by higher families (families and crests can be well known, like Ecko's lineage on his dad's side is known for being excellent guards and is thus very respected) or military people, or for certain ceremonies.
