I'm not very good with words, but whatever. Congratulations on 1000 followers ArtemistheNightwing! You deserve it in every single way, you're so creative, and amazing at drawing and writing! You seem like such a nice person, even though I haven't talked to you. I hope that you continue to be successful, and that you have fun with what your doing.

That was a lot of words. Anyway, this is my entry for your contest, I hope you like it! I wasn't sure if we had to draw and write about both of the eggs, so I only did one, hope that works.

The message/rhyme:

8. Diamond of Ice                                                                                                                                                         

Delicately crafted                                                                                                                                                                   Descended from power                                                                                                                                                       Magic in the talons of the softest flurry of snow

I think that the dragon is either a icewing, a magicwing, or a hybrid of those two. For any traits or special oddities, maybe an animus, or it has magic in it, but doesn't know, or its egg was maybe made (?) by an animus?

And then the story.

Luminous cowered as she saw the all to familiar flash of claws going straight towards her shoulder. She cried out in pain as her father's razor sharp claws met with the sensitive black scales on her front leg.

"What did I do to deserve this? I've been behaving," the dragonet whimpered, looking to her father, Fearstriker, with watery eyes.

"I know what you've been planning," he snarled, his eyes cold,"You want to go to that 'Jade Mountain Academy', don't you."

Luminous cowered even more, staying silent. She had been wanting to go to the Jade Mountain Academy.

"DON'T YOU!" Fearstriker roared out.

"Yes," Luminous whispered.

His claws lashed out towards her again, this time meeting with the side of her neck. Her face was now covered in tears as she sobbed out in pain.

"GET OUT!" He roared once again, this time almost shaking Luminous' frail body with the volume.

She turned and fled out the cave entrance of what used to be her home. It hurt to fly, but she kept going.

Luminous flew for a couple hours, until her wounds had started to hurt way more. She landed at the base of a large mountain, hoping that she wasn't in skywing territory. She walked around, looking for a place to settle for the night, before continuing on with her journey to the Jade Mountain Academy. 

Luminous found a cave that was fairly secluded, with just a small opening so it wasn't that noticeable. There was a faint, strange, blue glow coming from the mouth of the cave. The glow intrigued Luminous, so she decided that she would settle there for the night. 

She slowly approached the entrance to the cave, then crouched down. Even she had to crouch to get through the opening. Luminous followed the source of the glow through a tunnel. The tunnel led to a large cave with a pit in the middle. Looking down the hole, Luminous finally found the source of the mysterious, blue, glowing light. It was an egg.

The egg was dark blue on the top, and white on the bottom. There was a diamond shape in the middle of it, and it had a soft, blue light coming off of it. Luminous could see the vague outline of a dragonet in it, almost ready to be born. 

Flying down to the egg, Luminous noticed that it's nest had a single, blue scale in it.

"That's odd, it must be from the parent." She thought to herself.

Luminous hesitantly reached out to touch the egg. It sent a shock of cold up her talon. The cold made her jump slightly, but didn't scare her off.

"It must have been here for a while to get that cold, maybe I'll warm it up."

Luminous picked up the egg, careful not to drop the freezing object, and stared at it in wonder. How something so small could hold a life was a mystery to her. She lied down and set the egg in the curve of her stomach as she fell asleep.
