I found what I think is the skull of a very young deer and its neck vertebrae.

There you can see the neck vertebrae.

I think the poor creature was killed and its head was carried off by a predator that hot off all it wanted then discarded it in the woods behind my house and nature did the rest.

Heres a completely intact baby deer skull.
