Side note: Arance does not have depression. Nor is he suicidal- at the moment. What Arance is trying to say is that because of all the backstabbing and gossip, he's under a lot of stress and full of negative emotions. He possibly WOULD have depression if it wasn't for ballet. Because of ballet, Arance has successfully avoided developing any sort of depression since he found a way to cope with the situation he's in, hence not having any self harm urges, ect. However if he didn't have ballet. . . Then you can probably imagine that the outcome would not be good.
If your wondering why Arance doesn't just complain to his parents to make the rumors stop is because he doesn't want them to know that he's transgendered. This is since when he first came out and told someone that person immediately turned around and betrayed him. He's worried that his family would be against him if they found out. He also hasn't used his status as a royal himself to make the rumors stop because Maní had always told them not to use their ranking selfishly or for their own gain (though in this case you might agree he should have the right to use it). That, plus he doesn't want to confront them. He's scared. (Please forgive me if I did not portray depression in the right way for anyone who actually has it. I mean absolutely no offense)
In the scene which Arance said, "Their words got to me" He's biting his arm to keep from screaming(or from talking). He was biting down so hard he started bleeding. This was a common occurrence before he started doing ballet to vent his feelings.

Marul does still have a major crush on Arance. If people are also wondering what he's trying to do to Arance, the answer is that he was trying to:

1: Imply that he wants Arance to rely on him (in times of stress or pain. Oooorrrr just in general)

2: Grab Arance's hand

Aaannndd 3: Tried to kiss him.  If you guys are thinking "Ppft yeah right, like that'd actually happened" please keep in mind that Marul is a teenage boy of fifteen with his first love sitting right beside him in a leotard and talking about how said first love is in pain.
Of course afterwards when he was straight up rejected he started freaking out about his actions.
