Future story that all started with a weird dream about X marks the spot.

"Ethan!" I hear Dove call out.

Our ship rocked back and forth as the waves knocked against it. The storm raged around us. I don't know how much this ship can take.

I ran to the edge. Dove was barely holding on, on the other side of the rail. "Take my hand," I yelled, reaching over the edge.

"I can't," Dove replied. The force of the wind pushed her to the side in an effort to make her lose her grip.

"Come on!" I said again, "Take my hand!" As another wave crashed against the ship, Dove started to fall. I tried to grab her, but she was too far out of my reach. I couldn't do anything but watch as she fell into the big ocean below. The waves wash over her.

"Hang on, I'm coming," I yelled even though she probably couldn't hear me. I looked back at the rest of the crew and declared, "I'm going after her."

"What?" Jake yelled back from the steering wheel, as I pulled myself up onto the railing.

"I'm diving overboard," I told Jake, "get the ship out of the storm, we'll try to find our way back after. If something happens you have to continue the hunt and find the treasure of Iris before the evil witch."

"But-" before he could finish, I jumped overboard.

I hit the ice cold water with a splash. I took a breath before pushing myself under. Ignoring the salt water stinging my eyes as I opened them underwater, I scanned for Dove. Once I found her, I pushed myself farther underwater, swimming toward her. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her up to the surface.

The sea was still at war with itself. Our ship was getting farther and farther away. Through the dark and rain I could kinda see what looked like a rowboat. Jake had listened about getting the ship out of the storm but not before leaving us something that would help our chances of survival.

I hold Dove close to me as I attempt to swim towards the boat.

Dove coughed a little. "Ethan?" Dove whispered, her voice hoarse from the water.

"Yes, It's me," I responded gently, "don't worry, I'm going to get you out of here."

All of a sudden, the waves pulled us apart. I try to find her again, instead my head gets smacked in the rowboat that was left for us. Once I see her, I reach for her with one hand, the other holding on to the boat. I am able to grasp her hand and pull her to me. I help her into the little boat and then climb in after her. The waves are still fighting us as I row in the direction of the island I noticed earlier. Dove eyes fluttered for a second before closing again.

Once we were closer to shore, the storm and waves finally accomplished in tearing our boat apart. I was able to touch the sand below and I picked up Dove with one arm under her legs and the other supporting her back and neck. I carried her to shore, sloshing through the water. I laid her down in the sand before falling next to her, out of breath.

Next I checked on Dove, I checked her pulse, it was more faint than normal but it was still there. "Come on, Dove," I said, "wake up, I need you to open your eyes, please," I begged.

Dove coughed some more, but then opened her eyes, and looked up at me dazed, "What happened?" she asked.

"Shhh, it's okay, we're safe," I consoled her, "we're going to be alright." I held her in my arms, as the storm slowly faded. 

A small part of my mind starts to think about how less than a week ago, I was in my room complaining about how some other guy was going to sweep her off her feet, because I couldn't write a poem. I softly laughed to myself and whispered, "take that Darian."

A little bit of explanation, this is a clip from the Treasure of Iris. Ethan and Dove is the ship that this part is focused on. Ethan and his friends are on a treasure hunt to find the treasure of iris, but an Evil force is in search for it too, so they have to race to get to it first. Most of the characters are self explanatory. Darian is some popular guy from their school who liked Dove. Don't want to spoil to much but anyway.
