Fennec Fox

Bubbly-Wolf

The fennec fox is a small species of canine that lives in the dry, sandy regions of the Saharan Desert. They are the smallest foxes in the world, ranging from 24 cm to 41 cm in length. They are known for their long tails, which can be up to 31 cm in length depending on the individual, and their large, bat like ears. Their ears radiate heat from its body to keep them from becoming overheated during the time spent in the sweltering heat. Their thick sandy coloured fur helps to keep them cool during the day and warm during the night. The fennec fox is an omnivorous animal and its diet consists of insects, rodents, plants and fruits, along with small reptiles and the occasional egg. A female fennec fox can breed twice a year, although most females only breed once a year. There are about 3 to 4 kits in each litter and they drink the mother's milk for about a month. After that, they start to go out hunting with the mother, as the father is kept from the kits.

Fennec foxes technically aren't threatened yet, but they will be soon due to many of them being kept as pets and intensive hunting in North Africa and the Middle East.
