[Warriors] Mistyfire

Yeah. I drew this, and I'm proud of it ❤️

Fuck Sandstorm. Mistystar x Firestar is awesome!
I've liked Warriors for ages, to the point where I rewrite some of the key aspects in the books in my head.
-Scourge breaks down into tears when Fireheart raises his paw for the final blow and explains why he acted so tyrannical (edgy but I like it because SCOURGE NEEDS SOME REDEMPTION DAMMIT)
-A leader can give one of their lives to a dead cat as long as their body is mostly intact, and the cat will be resurrected with faint memories of their death
-Warriors know Twoleg music and often invent their own

I've even rewritten characters' deaths!

-Sandstorm gets trampled by a horse stampede
-Cloudtail drowns but is resurrected
-Princess gets hit by a monster
-Bluestar gives her actual final life to Mosskit, who comes back to life as Minnowkit, a loner discovered by ThunderClan who tells her secret to Firestar

One of the main things I rewrote was Firestar's dating life. First, he and Sandstorm fall in love, and they have kittens, but then Sandstorm dies. Firestar is heartbroken, but Mistystar is there to help him cope with his mate's death. Eventually, he falls in love with her. Firestar feels guilty for betraying Sandstorm, so she visits him in his dreams and tells him that his life is his own, and that he can take Mistystar as a mate if he wants, but that she hopes she will hold a special place in his heart. Firestar tells Sandstorm she will always be special to him, and she smiles before telling him, "Wake up now, sweet Firestar. Your mate is waiting for you." He gets up and runs to the RiverClan border, and confesses his feelings to Mistystar, who admits she felt the same. They plan to have a litter of kittens.

In this particular picture, Mistystar died to rats, and Firestar blames himself for not being able to save her. He wanders up to a cliff at the edge of ThunderClan territory, and thinks of jumping down into the river below him, a several-miles-long fall, but Mistystar visits from StarClan and tells him not to. Here's an excerpt from my rewritten part:

~~~
Firestar laid restlessly in his den. No matter how comfortable the moss bed was, he couldn't sleep. He just kept thinking about his dead mate, Mistystar. Whenever he closed his eyes, he could see her helpless face as she was bitten to death by the rats. He could hear her screams of pain and terror ringing in his ears, enough to make tears well up in his eyes.
He put his paws over his ears, hoping to drown out the sound that made him feel so guilty. He blamed himself. Firestar convinced himself that we was to blame, that it was his fault Mistystar was gone and would never be back to snuggle with him under the stars. He hadn't been able to save her because he was helping Cloudtail instead. He got up, deciding enough was enough. He couldn't suffer like this knowing he was the cause of his love's death.
He padded quietly and quickly towards the entrance of his den, and checked to make sure nobody was awake. When he heard that everyone in ThunderClan was asleep, he ran into the forest, away from his Clan's camp, away from all of his Clanmates, his own tears streaming behind him. He didn't have any plans of coming back.
Firestar finally reached a cliff. He remembered coming here with Mistystar before, watching falling stars and making wishes. Her wish had been for her and Firestar's future kits to be healthy, and that Bluestar, her mother, approved of her choice in mate. His wish was that they would never be separated, and that the cats in StarClan would give them their blessing.
Firestar sat sadly and hung his head, whisking his tail around his paws and sheltering them from the cold winds. He felt so alone in this world without his mate at his side. "Mistystar, I'm so sorry..." he sighed. "It's because of me that neither of us got our wish... It's all my fault..."
Firestar threw down his head and sobbed to himself. He felt like the worst mate ever. He had seen her die right in front of him, and had been too preoccupied saving his nephew to help her. When the cold winds turned less cold and more soft, he looked up.
Certain stars in the sky seemed to be glimmering brighter than others. He finally figured out what the bright stars formed: Mistystar's silhouette. She was there with him. But she wasn't. But she was.
The brighter stars faded, and instead a transparent Mistystar appeared in front of him. Stars glimmered in her eyes, and her fur shone.  When she moved, a few tiny sparkles popped up and fizzled as if by magic. She had a literal glow to her — a glow from another realm. The StarClan glow. "Firestar," she said softly. Before she could say anything more, her mate stood up, ran to her and purred, rubbing his head against her neck. "Mistystar, I miss you so much...!" he sobbed.
She put a paw on his shoulder as he continued to cry. "I know, Firestar, I know. I miss you too, more than I could ever say. But I can still watch over you from StarClan and see to it that you don't get hurt." When they pulled away, Firestar noticed her eyes. Her big, sky-blue eyes, shimmering like stars. No more pain or fear or sadness, like he had seen in her eyes during her final living moments. Now she was cheerful and bubbly, like she had always been when they were together.
"Mistystar... I..." Firestar began. "I'm so sorry I couldn't..." He sobbed again. Mistystar just rubbed her nose against his neck. "My death wasn't your fault, Firestar, and you know it," she told him. "I didn't save you in time," Firestar protested. The tears running down his cheeks had left tear tracks on his face and had dampened his fur.
"You tried your best to save me," Mistystar continued. "That's all a Clan asks for in a leader, Firestar — their best. Even if I did fall, you succeeded. You saved Cloudtail, your nephew, who I know is one of the most important cats in your life. He was so grateful, your sister was so grateful. In my last moments, I saw the look in Cloudtail's big blue eyes when you rescued him — pure awe and gratefulness."
"He was so silent not only because of shock and fear from his near-death experience, but because he couldn't put into mere words how thankful he was that you saved his life when he couldn't defend himself. But when you turned around and tried to save me... it was just my time to go."
"I heard you calling my name desperately, and I wanted to get up and tell you I was okay, but your voice turned into my mother's voice. Bluestar. She was calling for me, and when I looked up, she was there. She looked down at me. She told me she was proud of how far I'd gotten in my life and how happy she was that I was with you, but she said that my time had finally come."
Mistystar turned her back and looked at the stars. "I have to leave now, Firestar. StarClan beckons me to come back." Firestar ran to the edge of the cliff, being careful not to fall to his doom. "No, Mistystar! Please don't go! I need you here with me, my love!" He was desperate for her to come back home to him, for everything to go back to the way it was before. "Even if just for a little while, I need you with me. I can't be without you."
More tears flooded down Firestar's face. Mistystar wiped them away with her paw, and bumped her head against his. "I'm sorry, my sweetheart, but I can't come back. I can still visit you in your dreams, though." She smiled at him. For some reason, the cheer in her eyes made Firestar feel better. "I look forward to meeting you in StarClan, Firestar," Mistystar told him. "See you soon, my love."
And with that, she turned back and began to walk into the sky. She glanced over her shoulder to look back at her mate. He was still crying, and sad to see her go, but he was smiling back at her. He would see her again someday. Mistystar turned back to the starry night sky, and as she walked up, her silhouette faded. Now, it was just Firestar and the night sky, alone together.
He sat and thought to himself for a long time, then looked into the sky where Mistystar had disappeared. "I'll love you forever, Mistystar. I'll always miss you." He thought he could feel her eyes looking down on him, smiling lovingly. He was certain the feeling was right.
Pretty good, huh? That took quite a while to think up :)
