Description:

In our main story's reality, Kayden Noble meets the vampire Sarah Kimball during a time when he is greatly depressed. The two fall in love and Sarah shows Kayden everything he has going for him and gives him the will to live again. Several weeks later, Sarah's sibling comes down with a deadly illness, an illness that the ruling vampire monarchy claims to be able to cure. Their bargain? Kill Kayden Noble and we will not only heal your sibling, but we will let you join the monarchy and become a royal vampire. But Kayden Noble also has a cure for the disease, a potion he whipped up in the previous novel, all Sarah has to do is trust him and he can show her. Taking a leap of faith, Sarah declines the vampire royal's offer and accepts Kayden's help. Kayden then retrieves the cure, gives it to Sarah's sibling, and that plotline is completed.

The Sarah that was drawn, however, is from an alternate reality. An alternate reality where she did not take that leap of faith. She instead took Kayden into the forest, and after a heartbreaking, emotional debate between the two, she shoots him in the head with a pistol held aloft in her right hand. From the second she does so she regrets her decision, and sets about preserving Kayden's body in a secret location and trying to do good by his memory. For starters, she removes the arm that did the deed with a sword and cauterizes the wound with silver so it wouldn't grow back. 12 years later, this Sarah is recruited to form an alternate reality team of seven individuals who will do battle against another team of seven individuals composed of the same members, only from a different reality.
