Book Summary:

Aghet was always meant to be a warrior, her bloodline knit tightly together over generations in a neat, orderly fashion, as many others of her race. The war between them and the Turbaks had waged for years, and with her in line to lead the charge against the main bulk of their army, Aghet knew she had no time for mercy. Her people were losing thousands every day, and the Turbaks were continuing to push forward. But Aghet was tired of the countless battles, the deaths of both races, and her pleas for peace continuously fell on deaf ears.

A day before her wedding, betrothed to a man more war hungry than most, Aghet leaves her village to clear her head and prepare herself for the years to come. However, she stumbles upon a dying Turbak, who bestows on her something Aghet couldn't bring herself to destroy.
