His name is Lester Ace (credits to Jazz for the Lester part)

Lester = it rhymes with Luster, and Luster has something to do with reflective surfaces like glass balls

Ace = Ace of Spades, and that has something to do with cards, and cards are sometimes used in magic

I'm still accepting suggestions for his personality, design, etc. so if you guys have ideas please comment them :V
