I found this on Tumblr today, and I just wanted to address it.

I cropped and edited the images to keep identities safe (and that last message was BAD). This didn't happen to me, it happened to someone else, but I still want to address this.

Okay. There's a lot of things I find wrong with this.

First of all, you cannot claim a fictional character as someone you can both date and make decisions for in REAL LIFE. It might be fun to imagine and it might be a good method for making entertaining content, but it's not healthy.

Second of all, fanfic is called so for a reason. It is other people's opinion on what they think would happen in one or more shows that they like - NOT actual stuff that happens in the storyline! People are free to their own opinion when it comes to these things, and posting those opinions is a way to find other people that share one's interests. Forcing your opinions and ideologies onto other content creators through threats and begging just to get something you personally think is entertaining is violating their rights as artists and creators.

We may be people behind a screen, but we still have feelings and we want to be appreciated by others. Think before you act, please.

I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to call anybody out with this. Most of the people I've met on Wattpad are really nice and respect other's boundaries, and I greatly appreciate that. I just want others to know that this kind of online behavior does exist, and to watch out for people like that.

And to all those who stumble across this post... do you mind getting the word out? This kind of behavior needs to be brought to attention.
