Chapter 5 But Nobody Came

(H/C) = Hair Color

Sun light poured through the blinds of the window, dusting neatly against the wooden floorboards of the room revealing the hidden dust particles that flew around making them seem as though they were sparkles amongst the quite air.

Days like this were normal, they started off so calm, but the storm that awaited them was just looming over head. Your body pulled its self out from under the covers stretching to feel the weight of the world back upon your shoulders. You'd of thought this was beautiful, that this was calm and wonderful. But, you knew better than that now. Day's were gray, never light or dark. Just, gray.

Swinging your legs over the sides of the bed you threw off the blanket and marched towards your bathroom to prepare for the long day. Being the eldest you meant you had more responsibility. You had to go find a job soon, as well as prepare for collage. Its all apart of being the eldest. You had to be responsible. For your family. But that didn't mean you were looking forward to it.

You jumped, only startled, hearing someone enter your room with out knocking, thanking your lucky stars that the bathroom door was locked as you brushed your hair. You knew it was only family, but that didn't mean you hadn't been startled!

"(Y/N)." Your father barked at first then seemed to calm down as he knocked on the bathroom door. He was always in a grumpy mood in the mornings before work, but when he returned home he was happy. (Despite the fact that it felt like your mother and father always directed their attention to your younger sibling.)

"Yeah?" You called from behind the door fixing your hair seeing your tired eyes, sunken in as if they've never known what sleep was, stare back at you.

"Glad you're up early, it's always good to set a good example for Chara. You make sure you find a job today okay? If you need help your mother can help you with your resume, and don't forget that you also need to find hours to suit being able to tutor Chara too." Your father huffed but he sounded calmer than when he had entered your room, with no signs of personal space respect but that's how he's always been. Not that you mind too much, your mother always makes sure he knows when to knock.

"Okay, I will." You muttered loud enough for him to hear as your hair brush combed through your (H/C) as you looked at your reflection once more, after momentarily looking away to the door.

"Good, hurry up and get breakfast before Chara leaves for school." He left after he shared that leaving you alone as you sighed, having a staring contest with your reflection.

You had a nice family, they were caring and they fed you gave you a roof over your head among other things. You knew they loved you that they always have, but Chara seemed more important to them. It felt as if they neglected you really. You knew they cared and all but Chara was clearly the favorite.

You wanted nothing more than to scream at them telling them that they don't ever listen to you or pay enough attention to see what they're doing to you. How much it hurts to know that they have a favorite when you try so hard for their approval. But you can't, you just can't. You sighed letting the hairbrush rest against the sink with a click looking back to your reflection.

I just wish they understood.

You sighed through your nose walking out the bathroom door to face the day head on. But the scene changed, rain pounded against the pavement as you ran through the streets. Your clothes sagging with the added weight against them as you found a crowd of people all huddled around a car wreck.

No, no, no!

You cried in your head pushing past people listening to the distant sound of rumbling thunder as you did so. Your family can't be in there! Chara! Mom! Dad! They can't be in there! You pushed through the crowd catching glimpses of flashing red and blue lights as you pushed forward only to see a horrible sight. Your family car was totaled into a street lamp that bent to the shape of the hit. And the cause of it all being the car lodged into the drivers side door, having been the force that pushed it there.

You covered your mouth tears threatening to spill while you stared at the stretchers being taken from the ambulance, you just noticed was here. You didn't get to see it all but the one thing you did see was a 5 year old Chara laying bloodied and bruised on one stretcher, making you cry at last reaching out into the crowd screaming their name.

But nobody came.

You jolted awake the strings keeping you in one place swinging with the sudden body movements and you let out a heavy breath coming to the realization that it was just a dream. Just a dream, you wished this was just a dream for maybe the third time upon being here in this endless void. But you found that was sort of impossible to try and convince your self with at this point.

Your eyes looked around wondering how you had gotten comfortable enough to even let yourself drift asleep. All while looking around for Error to see if he was even still around. You sighed trying to recall the last thing you remembered before falling asleep.

Thinking back on it you remembered Error throwing a fit saying that this was useless and that ink guy was never gonna show if he hadn't already. He mentioned something about getting his attention and you guessed you must of tuned him out finding that his whining about his perfect plan being flawed wasn't exactly helpful in your situation.

Your head moved down to see that you were back dangling amongst the other deep blue strings in the ceiling once more.

Great.

You thought bitterly trying to move around again but to no avail. This was getting pointless, how long would you be trapped like this? At this rate you're gonna need food and water to even survive. Right on cue your stomach growled and you looked up quickly huffing at the sensation. You guessed it's been a long time now you did only just have lunch before being taken away. You guessed it was around dinner time or after.

I wonder how Chara is.

You sighed a bit again finding that was all you could do, you didn't like Error. He was selfish and mean and wanted nothing more than to hurt the people you care so deeply about. But somehow you didn't find the word hate reaching your lips. It was a string dislike at the moment. You let your self hang there with no attempt of trying to break free of the cursed strings that still held you in place, but that was very short lived when the strings let go of you so suddenly letting you hurl down to the floor with a scream.

"SHI-" you screamed as you fell, landing with a loud THUD, unable to even finish the cuss that almost left you. Leaving it hanging with a groan. Slowly you pushed yourself up from your stomach where you landed face first to try and stand, but that's a little difficult since you've been left hanging for a while. (Not to mention just thrown to the floor so suddenly.)

"Don't be dramatic, that didn't hurt that much." Error's missed, not really, voice was heard again and you craned you're neck to see him standing at a comfortable enough distance from you.

"Why'd you do that?" You grunted sitting up rubbing your head a bit from the fall. Error only grinned at you and you guessed his answer was he found it amusing.

"Get up." He motioned for you to move and you huffed deciding it better not to get smart with him and try to stand.

"Why'd you let me go? Don't you think I'm gonna attack you?" You glared as you brushed off your clothes from invisible dust as Error only eyed you.

"I doubt you would try, I'm too powerful." He smirked at that comment and you rolled your eyes now fixing your clothes from where they got wrinkled after being hung for so long. Your lack of response seemed to irritate him.

"Ugh, I heard you were hungry and I'm bored of waiting for that glitchy vomit of color so I thought I'd entertain myself with you since you're a good listener." Error scoffed a bit as he stood there watching as you tried to balance yourself.

"Is that it?" You made a face, you didn't think that would be it, you thought maybe it would take a little more than that to convince him to let you go.

"Deals aren't really my thing, but I know you won't do anything for the sake of your precious anomalies." Error shrugged seeming as if he was smug with himself coming to that conclusion.

You guessed he was right, if he was as powerful as he talked himself up to be you knew it was safer to play by his rules rather than tempt fate and taunt him to play by yours. He could destroy your whole world! Chara deserves better than that! Despite them always being the favorite you loves them more than anything.

You realized that, that day the accident happened. You realized that despite the resentment that had been growing from your parents ever present love for your younger sibling, that you cared and loved Chara more than anything.

But no matter how much the realization hit you all at once, accident never left them the same. It silenced their voice for the rest of their life, and you knew that because of that they were never quite as happy as they used to be. You wanted to give them purpose a meaning to life. You just hoped they were doing well.

"What?" Error narrowed his eye sockets suspiciously at you as you gazed off into the distance not saying anything only to blink out of your lingering stare.

"Sorry I'm just-thinking about my sibling." You sighed a bit shaking your head to snap yourself out of it.

"Uh...Why do you want to destroy these "Au's" so badly? Did they do something to you?" You decided to generate some small talk again, unmoving from where you stood as error eyed you carefully.

"I'm only destroying them for their own goods." He seemed sensitive about that topic, you don't think that's for him to decide but you guessed with a person like him there was no reasoning. Your stomach growled again and you flushed with embarrassment and turned to look away from him not wanting him to think you're weak for being hungry already. He seemed to groan.

"Ugh stay here. I'll be right back. Don't touch my things." Error had turned after opening an access point to glare at you as he spoke at the end trying to get it across that he didn't want you to touch anything of his while he was gone and you merely nodded a bit afraid of what he may do to you if he discovered you had been snooping around. He left after that leaving you alone in this endless void.

You decided to sit and wait, taking a seat on the endless sea of white to stare at everything around you. You're not sure how he lives here, how he gets by like this. To you this seemed lonely, not another soul in sight no purpose of living.

Your only purpose was Chara, with out them you found no real reason to keep kicking. You're sure if you looked more actively for things you'd find them but after the accident you were never much for looking. Too afraid that if you got close to another living being they'd be taken away from you too.

Over the years having a partner was sort of far fetched, and overrated. The hand holding, the kissing, the..other things. Wasn't something you really needed in life. Of course that didn't mean it didn't come with its repercussions, being a grown woman after all. But they were nothing but mere passing annoyances. After all, someone who's never tasted chocolate has no clue what they're missing let alone desire to even try it and those who have always want more.

You sighed picking at the floor, you were trapped in this world now with an undetermined fate. You don't even know what error plans to do with you if this ink guy never shows. What if he never does? You don't think he will, he seems a little far fetched to you. But you guessed if error was the destroyer of worlds it would make sense there's someone out there creating more.

The concept still threw your head in a loop, you didn't even think multiverses were a thing. You've heard the theories out there, that there could be worlds like yours but different by one thing or many things. But you never wanted to think about it. It all seemed just so bizarre it was better to be ignorant than to be educated. In that instance anyway, there were more important things to be educated in anyway.

But even still it was crazy to think that this is what you were now reduced to. In just a few short hours you were nothing more than a mess who was trying to get a hold of what was happening in reality and what wasn't. This was just so strange, and you thought the strangest thing had been the monsters.

Though, thinking about them...you realize that you do have more to live for now. They're your friends your new family. You guessed without realizing it, your heart had grown to love more than just Chara.

The monsters were kind and welcoming and nothing like the human race. You just hoped they wouldn't change because people are mean. They don't have any reason to be mean most of the time they're just mean to be mean because they like it, because they enjoy watching others suffer.

Those kinds of people always made you sad. To know that they're mean just because it's the only thing in life that makes them happy. You sighed and looked up from the ground back at the endless nothing that surrounded you.

You did kinda want this ink to show up. Maybe save the day take you back to your Au and be reunited with your family. But you didn't think that sort of thing was true, it was too good to be true. And if anything was too good to be true it's probably not. You wanted to laugh wondering if anyone wanted to be in your shoes right now. They'd be crazy! Wanting to be locked up with some sort of crazy skeleton! But then again here you are queen of the crazies.

You picked more at the ground, you thought about shouting seeing if this ink was lost and slowly rose to your feet. Cupping your hands around your mouth you yelled out a loud help.

But nobody came.
