Made Up Animal Challenge
Basically, I was tagged by someone to do this. You make up an animal, and describe it. Make sure the animal makes sense. So, I've made an animal that I'd like to share.
The name of my animal is called a Kiimu (pronounced: K-ee-mu) Kiimu's are little creatures, but not to small. They are a bit skinny and long. They are able to swim, but can only swim for 25 minutes before drowning.
Looks:
Kiimu's have the back legs of a dog or certain cats, and the front legs are monkey like. Meaning they have hands. The males body usually looks like this:
The males have small tails, because unlike females, they have no use for their tails. They do have stronger lower body strength with their back paws. The pattern is for camouflage, and it depends where they live. In a tropical climate, they have spots and usually a tan color. In the tundra climate, they're usually all white, or icy blue. In the dry climate, they are usually yellow and red, like the colors of the sun.
The body of the females look like this:
The reason they have long tails, (the tails are usually much slimmer than this picture) is because they sue it as a defense system. It's kind of like a thresher sharks tail, except they don't use it to kill. When the female uses their tail, either against a male kiimu or any other predator, they use their tail like a whip. It paralyzed the other, having time for the female to escape. The paralysis usually lasts up to two hours. But if not, the longest it can get is 5 hours.
Their back paws usually look like this. The reason for this is because, some Kiimu's prefer to live underground. They use their back paws for digging. The reason a male Kiimu has it is for digging, but also fighting. When in a fight with another predator or Kiimu, they use their back legs like a horse would, and in some cases, like a kangaroo would.
Their front legs (or hands) looks like this. They have hands for grabbing mainly. They use their hands for food, location, fighting, sometimes digging, and climbing (also walking). They're able to stand up like a
Meerkat would, helping them to get to higher places.
This is what the inside of a Kiimu's mouth would look like. Kiimu's are omnivores. Meaning they can eat plants and animals. The usually eat certain vegetables, certain fruits, and the common meat they'd eat is a bird or any eggs they may find. They'll eat anything smaller than them.
The nose of a Kiimu would look like this. The reason a Kiimu's nose doesn't pop out is because when it comes to fitting in close spaces or fighting, having a popped out nose would get in the way.
The common eye color for a Kiimu is green. There isn't really an explanation for this, however, in some cases, they might have multi colored eyes. But one of them has to her Green.
Like this for example. Also, they have heads and ears similar to a Finnic fox or whatever they're called.
Adults
Pups
Like those.
Refer back to Kiimu's use their back feet for digging, their homes usually look like this. The hole on the outside is usually small and skinny. When Kiimu's enter their homes like snakes, putting their hands in a comfortable position and using their back legs to push themselves into their homes. The reason for this is so if a predictor manages to get into their holes, they'll get stuck until they get it or die. After a certain point, the holes open up and the Kiimu's are able to roam their underground homes. Similar to this:
However, some Kiimu's prefer to stay in the trees. The Kiimu's usetheor hands for this home, pulling off layors of bark, then using their back paws to make the bark cave in and break down. I've that happens, it makes a hole for the Kiimu to stay in. They look like this:
Now, the mating ritual for this animal is kind of fair. There isn't a thing where the most dominant gets to have a the children, it's usually decided amongst the clan. However, you must have the respect of the royal family to be mating. When two males want the same female, they usually fight for her. These fights don't really last long, because they make quick work of it once someone breaks a bone. The scared males who are too afraid to break bones for a female try rape. This usually doesn't go well unless a male is able to seduce the female. If the female doesn't approve of the males actions and the male tries to do it anyways, she uses her tail to stun or paralyze the male until then. They usually mate like cats.
Females carry their children like possums, and can only have up to four pups as the max. The common number of pups a female has is two.
Their common predators are:
Domesticated Cats
Domesticated Dogs
Big birds
And Foxes
The names usually go by generation. It depends on their first letter, the first two letters, or the first three letters of their names. Like marriage when the female takes the last name of the male, in this case, the female takes the first/first and second/first, second, and third letters of their first name and change it to theirs.
For example:
Palmer.
Palmer + Letunia.
Palmer = Petunia.
Palmer + Petunia = Pito and Pila.
And so on.
So you'll expect a lot of juniors, the seconds, the thirds, the fourths, etc.
Roles:
A Kiimu clan can get up to 37 members. However, the common number of members are usually 15-25 due to male Kiimu's being kicked out after a certain age to find their own clan. The roles are....
Kings: the male leader of a Kiimu Clan.
Queens: The mate of the King, also known as the Female leader of a Kiimu Clan.
Princess/Prince: the pups of the King and Queen.
2nd Runner: they're the ones in charge when the royal family is absent, or if the Princess or Prince is too young to take responsibility, and the king or Queen are absent.
Knights: They're the ones who protect the clan from any other clan attacks.
Howlers: they're the ones who watch the clans territory and sometimes venture forth to se if any clans are near. They make howling monkey sounds.
Vultures: These are the ones who leave the territory in search of food/water/clans/possible territories, or anything like that and comes back to tell the clan.
Pups: the pups of the clan members that's not one of the Kings or Queens.
Newbies: they're the new males who join a clan under the royal family acceptance. They don't have a major role yet, and thy just stick around the clan until they can find a role that suits them.
Thats all I have right now. This would make an interesting roleplay. But nobody would join cause some doesn't even know what a Kiimu is X3. If you have any questions, ask. Now, imma tag a few.
