XIII. Does Beatrice Know?

THIRTEEN.
DOES BEATRICE KNOW?

EARNING A SOFT SMACK TO HIS CHEEK, Nathan blinked slowly, adjusting his eyes to the light in order to figure out what had hit him. Before he could, Nathan felt his arm stuck which made him speed up the process. Once he came back to the world, he saw Jaycee sleeping peacefully in his hold with her arm sprawled out towards his face.

So that's what hit him. Nathan couldn't help but chuckled at the girl. It wasn't hard to guess that Jaycee was knocked out cold, Nathan peered around the room, checking to see if any alarm clock was around but there wasn't and honestly he was glad. If he knew the time, he would probably begin to freak out which was the last thing he wanted, Nathan just wanted to adore the girl that he held in his arms for a while.

It was as if he had almost accomplished his goal. Ever since the two were little kids, Nathan had made a promise that he would always and forever protect Jaycee whether it meant life or death. And having her this peaceful in his arms was close, but he understood it wouldn't last long—after all, she still wasn't even his.

And to think, after all the girls he's slept with overnight—for some reason, none of them compared to the feeling he felt with her, in this moment.

Yawning, Jaycee stretched her body like a baby before realizing someone was in bed with her. Scaring herself awake, Jaycee shot up from bed—patting down her head before Nathan spoke, "Jaycee, you're fine."

Glancing over her shoulder, she took sight of her favorite boy laying on her bed. "Oh, jesus, it's just you," she said to calm herself down.

Nathan grinned, "I like your messy hair." Blood rushed to her pale cheeks, making it obvious now that she was blushing over his comment. Nathan traced soft shapes into the lower part of her back, erupting some butterflies in her stomach, "I should probably get back to the chaos."

Jaycee pouted, falling to her pillow, "Okay, please don't die, I need you here." Nathan nodded, his smile only so pure when looking at Jaycee, "About last night.."

"Hey. Look, it's not about sex with me okay? When you're ready.. I'll be too," Nathan assured her. And that was thing about Nathan, he was protrayed as such a rude guy but whenever he stepped foot in a room with Jaycee, did that Nathan ever exist?

Pulling her body weight up one more time, she gave Nathan a quick kiss on the cheek before saying, "Call me when you can."

THE DAY SEEM TO THROW JAYCEE OFF FAST, WHITEY HAD CANCELLED BASKETBALL WHICH MEANT NO CHEER. And with Nathan dealing with family drama, Jaycee thought there was no better way to spend your day off with your own twin sister!

Walking into Peyton's room, the blondies back facing towards the door while she sketched, Brooke picked up a Polaroid camera that was lying around and took a picture of Peyton.

Peyton peered over, her puzzled look turning to a smile, "What are you doing?"

"Documenting," Brooke shrugged, "A day without cheer. Hour one." The Davis twins both layed on both sides of Peyton, Jaycee observing the sketch while Brooke was in her own land.

"There's something wrong with this picture, though," Brooke recalled, "Oh, I know what it is. Me and Jay aren't in it!" Brooke positioned the camera again, Jaycee sticking out her tongue and the other two made funny faces. "Would you please draw your freaky drawings later? There's no basketball, we're young, we're gorgeous, we have all this free time so let's go do something fun!"

"What about Lucas? I'm sure he'd be up for some fun. Probably some Polaroids too," Peyton teased.

"Lucas.." Brooke trailed, "The monkey in the room."

Jaycee chimed in, "Hey so, I feel like I'm third wheeling and you guys aren't even dating."

Peyton softly giggled, leaning over to push Jaycee, "Whatever, you two," Brooke laughed, "Look, I came to make sure there's no weirdness about that. You're my best friend and I would never cut your out for a guy, okay? No matter who he is. Or how happy he makes me."

"Brooke, I'm cool with you and Lucas," Peyton reassured, "I just want to draw for a little bit. How about a rain check?"

Brooke smiled, "Count on it."Lifting both of her fists up, waiting for the girls, "Hoes over bros."

To get up, Jaycee rolled over on top of Peyton making her wheezing and laugh at the same time, "J Davis, how are you and Nate," she muffled out.

"Pretty good," Jaycee seemed to whisper, getting a little giddy at the mention of him, "He had a rough night but he stayed with me than he was fine."

Brooke gasped, "He stayed over?"

The color seem to drain from Jaycee face, "Uh.. what? Peyton, I love you and bye!"

ESCAPING QUICKLY FROM PEYTONS HOUSE, JAYCEE WALKED ALONG THE PATH TO SEE JAKE SITTING ON HIS FRONT STEPS. It was quite odd not seeing her best friend, Beatrice, right by his side but it wouldn't hurt to talk to him especially when he would get her mind off of other things.

Once he noticed Jaycee, he set his guitar to the side. "Hey, Jake!" She greeted, "I was wondering if you wanted to do something today, Beatrice told me she was busy so that must mean she left you alone too."

"I appreciate it, JJ but I kind of gotta stay by the house today," Jake answered with an apolgetic look.

Jaycee's mood shifted, feeling slightly awkward since she's never really asked Jake to hang out, only if Beatrice was around, "No, no, I totally get it."

Right as Jaycee turned her heels away from Jake, he stopped her, "Wait, come inside. There's someone I'd like you to meet."

Jaycee's eyebrows drew to a line, "Should I be contacting Beau right now?" Her hand going to her back pocket which held her phone as Jake led her into the house.

Jaycee followed Jake into the living room, when a crib took sight with a little baby girl murmuring. "This is Jenny," Jake admired.

"Wait, I didn't know you had a baby sister," Jaycee breathed, her eyes swooning over the baby girl.

"Uh, actually, she's my daughter," Jake admitted, his eyes not leaving his baby.

Jaycee's eyes widened, "That's unbelievable. She's so cute, Jake. Oh my god. Does Beatrice know?"

"Does Beatrice know what?" As if she was summoned, Beatrice came out from the hallway in her pajamas, leaning against the door frame.

Getting startled, Jaycee shook it off but taking in the baby once more, "How old is she?"

"Six months, she won't stop growing even though I ask her too," Jake replied with a happiness seeping through to his words.

Jaycee looked up to see Beatrice staring at Jake with the same look Nathan has, it puzzled her in some ways of dealing with her own situation but she was more than happy for Beatrice.

There was one lasting question that ran through Jaycee's mind and that was "who is the mother". But she didn't want to be rude, because it was most likely sensitive to Jake so she kept to herself and watched the baby in awe.

AFTER THE SHOCKING DISCOVERY OF JAKE AND HIS KID, THAT SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY THING ON HER MIND. Jake's baby, Jenny, was adorable but why would her keep her a secret for this long? Well, Jaycee kind of understood since he would be known as a teen dad but his baby should be nothing to hide.

Honestly, Jaycee became quite annoying when it came to Jenny. Jaycee always wanted to make sure she was okay and if she needed a baby sitter like Jenny didn't have enough anyways. But tonight, Jaycee was at open mic that took place in Karen's Cafe.

Which is owned by the one and only Lucas Scotts mother who Jaycee adored. She was currently in Europe for something that Jaycee forgot to ask Luke about and Nathen's mom, Deb, has volunteered to run the cafe while she's gone.

According to Haley, the cafe had slowed down customers ever since and frankly has put her under a lot of pressure. So what better idea that to have an open mic where anyone could come and join!

Laying back on the counter, Jaycee watched as Haley ran all over the play, Peyton walked with a thick smile, Brooke entered with Luke attached to her hip ( as always ) , and finally, Beatrice and Jake. Jaycee kept quiet, not going up to anyone and enjoyed watching everyone rambled amongst each other.

A rough hand pulled her down into the seat, scaring her alive, she widened her eyes to look up at harsh action to only reveal Keith. Pushing him back out of annoyance, Jaycee shook her head also regaining her breathe that quickened.

Haley strolled up to the stage announcing into the mic, "Hey, so I just want to remind everyone that the stage is open, if anybody has any talents that they want to reveal.."

"I'll give it a shot," Jake spoke with Jenny in his carrier.

Haley smiled, "Great, come on up. Jake Jagielski, ladies and gentlemen."

Jaycee rested her head on her hands which cupped her face as she watched the cutest father and daughter bond she has ever seen. "Uhm.. so, normally, I only sing for my daughter. But, uhm, something that a friend said convinced me that uh, I should open to a wider audience. This seemed like the right time and place," Jake explained nervously, "So, everyone, this is my daughter, Jenny. And Jenny, this is my whole world."

The audience went wild, making Jake feel a little confused with all the love. Beatrice sat at the table directly in front of Jake, staring him as if he had just hung the moon with Jenny resting by her side. Those two had their own little thing, their own little world and Jaycee ached for it.

Her heart weighing down the more she started thinking, while Jake kept singing—Jaycee got up from her seat, giving Keith a 'I'll be back please don't follow me'. And she left to the back of Karen's Cafe.

Jaycee's knees falsely gave out, her back pressed to the cold wall that didn't fill with racks of extra food, she fiddled with her fingers. "Cee," a voice called, staying quiet it began again, "I'm gone for a weekend and I come back to find you like this.. who do I need to talk to." The deep voice giving it away, Nathan came back!

"Nate," Jaycee whispered in a way she just had a weight lifted off of her that has stayed their for years. Pushing herself from the floor, Jaycee  ran into Nathan's arms, her body colliding harshly aganist his.

His hands holding her waist tighly and securely, his left hand gently gripped her messy curls making sure her head was lifted up as if she was a newborn baby. Jaycee's head nuzzled in the warmness of his neck, she didn't realize how much she had missed Nathan until this moment.
