JUST TRYING TO HELP
THE SOUND OF A CAR interrupted the silence that filled Jaycee Davis's room. She groaned loudly while violently grabbing her pillow to shove over her ears to muffle the sound. It was the kickoff of the basketball season at Tree Hill High tonight and remarkably, Jaycee did not want to go.
Heavy footsteps came stomping through the empty house where only Davis sisters lived. It could be one of two things, Brooke Davis was getting upset or her best friend Beatrice was getting upset. Either way, it wasn't the best situation for Jaycee.
"Jaycee Maybell Davis, get your ass up," The sound of Beatrice Sallow demanded, ripping the blankets off of Jaycee. She knew she was in for it once she heard her full name.
"No, I'm not going," Jaycee mumbled under her pillow that Beatrice didn't rip off yet. Jaycee flipped her body to face the opposing way from Beatrice, being more stubborn.
"Jaycee," Beatrice scolded through her teeth. Beatrice usually got upset whenever something didn't go her way, it didn't happen a lot—normally it only happened when Jaycee was being the problem. Taking a deep breath, Beatrice straightened out her back, fixing her posture, "Get up, because I can't do the first game without my best friend by my side."
That made Jaycee debate whether or not she was making the right decision. In a way, Beatrice seemed sincere in the way she spoke and Jaycee couldn't let her down. She grabbed the pillow, pulling her arm back and throwing it at Beatrice, finally agreeing, "Fine. I'll go."
A short but loving squeal came from Beatrice as her plan worked. "Here's your uniform, your sister forgot to give it to you.." Beatrice admitted, leaving the outfit on Jaycee's bed with a little pat before running out the room to yell, "Peyton! She's coming, hold on!"
Jaycee sat up on her bed, peering a look at herself in her vanity. She would have no time to hide away her natural curls. Bringing her hands up to ruffle the curls, it disappointed her to know she'd have to be seen like this. It was a small thing but she hated them. They were just so messy, poofy, and just not appealing on her.. well according to every guy.
Which was another reason to not go to the first game. Would it really be such a big deal anyways? She would be just another cheerleader wishing she could lay in her bed and listen to Britney Spears. But, she had too, for her team.
Jaycee pulled her skirt up, flattening it down as she grabbed her shell for the top. This was going to be a pain. Going over her head, the shell got stuck around her chest, with all her might she pulled down earning a hard smack to her abs.
Another honk echoed Jaycee's ears, she rolled her eyes before answering, "I'm coming." She threw her cheer bag over her shoulder, locking the houses red door and giving a sweet smile to her best friends before jumping in the back seat.
"I hope you know," Peyton placed her arm on her drivers seat so her body could face Jaycee, "That honking? Oh yeah, it was all Brooke."
"Of course, it was," Jaycee broke a laugh, smacking her sisters shoulder.
Brooke grabbed her shoulder, "Ow?" Brooke changed the subject, sending a wink to Jaycee as she noticed she was rocking her normal hair. "Nice hair, J. Davis."
THE CROWD GOES WILD as Nathan Scott followed up with a three pointer basket. Jaycee cracked a smile, she shook her pom poms in the air as she cheered, "Go Nathan!" It wasn't rare that Nathan was the one who was scoring but the excitement of it never lost the spark.
Shaking her pom poms, keeping a smile plastered for her face, she glanced over to see her sister no where in sight—it was only Peyton and Beatrice who was easily getting distracted by Jake Jagielski. Jaycee sighed, knowing she went to the game mostly for Brooke, "P. Sawyer, where's my dumbheaded sister?" Jaycee questioned. Brooke was devoted to the cheer squad, her missing the first game made everything feel off.
"She saw some cute senior," Peyton stated, "I was told not to tell you and that she would be right back. But you don't fall for it," Peyton shrugged her shoulders before continuing, "I told her you wouldn't."
"That's my sister for you," Jaycee couldn't help but laugh.
Paying attention back to the game, she took note of the team huddling around Coach Whitey. She watched as he yelled at them to step up their game. Her face broke into confusion, seeing how Whitey benched Nathan, he was doing just fine to her knowledge. He was even scoring the most out of eveyone.
As the game went on, it was obvious to realize Nathan was benched as the Ravens performance had decreased quickly and it wasn't for the best. The opposing team had came up on the Ravens, killing their winning score as they pulled to the lead.
Whitey rubbed his forehead giving Nathan the signal to get up. Jaycee couldn't help but feel some excitement to see Nathan get back at what he loves the most. Nathan nodded his head with a smile and took a jog over to Peyton and Jaycee.
Peyton stepped closer to him, "Don't bother showering tonight." Which made the boy grin wider but more in a smirk type of way before he threw the ball and ran to the other side of the gym.
Jaycee shook her entire body, gagging before complaining, "Ew, ew, ew! Please, not in front of innocent me again!"
"Don't act like you haven't got a little something with Jagielski," Peyton teased back.
Suddenly, Jaycee got self conscious, "He's one of my best friends Peyton. Also, Beau has a thing for him!" Jaycee lowered her voice down to a level where she could only hear it, "Besides look at my hair."
Though, Peyton did hear a mumbling sound from Jaycee, so she couldn't help but bring it up, "What was that?"
"Nothing," Jaycee weakly smiled.
AFTER THE GAME, Peyton and Jaycee bolted immediately to hide within the crowd. They were not interested in getting wrapped up in Nathan's "epic" plan to steal a school bus and turn it into a party bus for the night. Immediately, it seemed like a shit idea. The boys were to high off winning to notice.
With Brooke no where to be found, Jaycee knew she was solo for the night. Honestly, she was kind of excited. She was excited for the peace and quiet without Brooke complaining, "My sister is so boring." At the replay in her head, she couldn't help but sigh.
She knew Brooke didn't do it out of harshness or anything, still whenever she did, it kicked Jaycee's heart a little. Breaking her thoughts, someone tapped her shoulder, "Hey girlscout." It was, thankfully, only Peyton, "Am I taking you home tonight?"
"Uh.." Jaycee looked around for her answer, which the answer was Brooke, "If you co—" Jaycee was finishing her sentence before she got rudely interrupted by the sound of honking.
Turning her head to the direction to see who was behind the noise, she took a sight of Keith Scott in his car waiting for her with a thick smile on his face. Jaycee and Keith's relationship was confusing at the first glance but, everyone in Tree Hill knew how close they were.
In a way, Jaycee came searching for someone like Keith. Her parents had just moved, leaving Brooke and her alone only with money to buy things—Jaycee was missing that parent figure. Even though one day, Jaycee's car wasn't working so she was forced to take it into Keith's workshop and ever since than they have been closer than anything. Jaycee was Keith's kid, basically.
Jaycee started talking and Keith listened. That kicked off the relationship, Keith started to check up on her daily and such more. As time went on, he started to be a father. Jaycee was his daughter, nothing could come between it. They were always there for each other, it was never a dull moment, Jaycee had happiness come back once Keith had walked into her life.
"Well than," Peyton softly laughed, looking towards the floor, "You got your ride."
Jaycee couldn't help but giggle letting out the energy that flew through her, "Yeah.. thanks though."
Peyton nodded in a way of 'your welcome', walking the other direction than the two while Keith called out, "So? Are you going to let your old man wait?"
To play along, Jaycee sat there with her pointer finger to her lips debating if she was going to go, "Mhm.. he seems to be in a mood." Suddenly, Keith started to move his car forward, pretending to leave her, "Wait, wait," Jaycee called out, "I'm coming!"
"Just you tonight, Cee?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yup, I got ditched for a senior."
✶ SO.. this is kinda just an intro chapter. I wanted to include more Nathan and Jaycee scenes but I forgot about him and Peyton honestly... BUT IT WILL WORK OUT. I also just wanted to build character/relationships. Like how Brooke and Jaycee are polar opposites ( and how jaycee is SO much like me.. ) uh.. her and Peyton and just yeah. NOT MUCH NATHAN, but next chapter 😘😘.
✶ I also thought of the Keith scene and couldn't resist BECAUSE THEY ARE SO CUTEEEEE.. and my daddy issues are showing 😣😣. BUT honestly, I just love Keith so much and I was wondering how I can put him in the story more so YEAHHH.
✶ PLEASEE, vote and please comment.. I really love seeing you guys comment and add your thoughts when you read, it also helps me have more motivation!!
