chapter eleven

The entire car ride to the party it was quiet except for the small murmur of conversation Gene and Sasha would make or the outbursts Zenix would make since I believe silence scares him. Either that, or he isn't good with silence and feels the need to destroy it. I don't care which one it is, but I think that he just needs to leave the silence the way it is supposed to be. He needs to leave it completely quiet. His voice annoys me.

By the time we make it to the party, I'm ready to pull my hair out of my head or strip Gene to his underwear and trade clothing.

Cars line the street and are parked in lawns. People are passed out drunk on the small empty spaces of green grass, and I begin to fear for their safety. This is a very dangerous scene, and it's only the outside. I'm afraid to know what the inside looks like. I also don't understand why no one has called the police yet, but the police may not want to intervene with what's happening either due to them fearing that chaos will erupt more than it already has.

"Only losers arrive on time for these types of things," Gene grimaces, looking down at his shoe in disgust as it comes in close proximity of an unconscious corrupted angel. He kicks them in the side and watches as they flop onto their back without a single noise. Gene chuckles at this affect, and it takes everything in me not to fall onto my knees and see if they're okay. I would've too if it weren't for Sasha placing her hand on my shoulder telling me not to. "That's better. I don't need their idiocy rubbing off of them and onto my shoe. I wear these."

Zenix, inpatient, slams the door open and runs inside. Gene groans and rolls his eyes as he watches the door bounce back to a near complete shut only a few feet in front of us.

Zenix isn't only annoying. He's stupid too.

Gene stops in his tracks and places his hand behind him only to touch my shoulder and make it jerk backwards. He turns to Sasha and nods his head, and she grabs onto my upper arm in case I "get any ideas." I don't know what ideas I would get. I don't know my way around here!

He walks forwards as if he were a leader of a group, and his tall silhouette completely swallows me. If it weren't for Sasha grabbing onto my arm and making it noticeable that I'm here, I'd be gone for all I know. In fact, I'd love to be gone. I'd love it if I would be gone at Vylad's, or somebody's house, by now.

When he walks in it's completely silent except for the loud music blaring. I grimace at the smell of sweaty bodies and alcohol making it's way around the room like a never ending breeze. Gene begins to walk forward once more, and the party resumes once again as if a remote control has decided to change from pause to resume. Sasha pulls me all the way up the stairs into a hallways with few bodies leaned up against the ways lip locking and tongues down their throats. She stops in front of a door, and Gene knocks some strange rhythm against the door only for it to open to reveal a tall male who feels the need to burn his eyes into my soul.

Laurance smirks softly to himself as Gene moves slightly to the left and Sasha to the left leaving me fully exposed to the male in front of me. His eyes wander up and down my body, and I'd move my arms to cover myself up if it weren't for them both being under control of Sasha and Gene. He turns to Sasha with a satisfied look upon his face. "You cleaned her up good."

"Well," I correct. He doesn't take my correction to his incorrect grammar lightly and he glares down at me. His hands digs into his pocket, and I now notice that Gene has his hand held out with his palm facing up to Laurance. Sometime is place into it, money I believe, and Laurance let's out an exhale as he dismisses the two and tells them to get Zenix out of his pool. It appears that Zenix already has tapped into liquor and Laurance has as well as it radiates off of his breath. Laurance moves out of the way, and I'm shoved inside what must be a girl's room.

He shuts the door and locks it behind him, but there are people around us. One of which is a blue haired female that glares harshly at me, and the blonde girl known as "Alex" places her hand against her shoulder to try and calm her down. It works until the sidekick of Laurance wraps his arm around the small female and forcefully brings her to his chest.

"Katelyn, it's your replacement!" The dark haired male laughs, glancing between myself and the blue haired female. He looks over at me and his tone of voice changes as it lowers, and he winks at me. "And may I say, she looks like a snacc. Laurance, don't be surprised if I eat her out before you get the chance to."

"She's mine you fucker," Laurance comments, his head snapping to the side to glare at the male, and suddenly I'm up against his side protectively. "That's why you have my sister."

Alex's eyes widen as she hits away Levi who almost throws his body weight on the female. "Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you!" She cries out, hiding into Katelyn who then protectively wraps an arm around her and touches Levi only for him to fall backward unconscious onto the bed he was sitting on and for both females to kick him off the bed. . . quite literally may I add. "Get your conversation over with and then get the hell out of my fucking room!"

Laurance sighs and waves his hand dismissively but nobody moves. This only annoys him more but he groans and says that they'll have to listen to it. "Well, my light one," he starts off, grabbing onto my wrist with a smirk. He glances over towards Katelyn and laughs, amused of how bothered she is of what's happening. Laurance tells her that she could've left while she could, but she ends up cussing him out left and right. "You will be my little sidekick per say for a little while. I have decided that you are worthy enough of my presence, and Aphmau will greatly hate it. That's only a bonus!"

"I'm not an item," I comment, trying my best to sound as though I have lathered my voice in venom and that in threatening but sadly he only finds it cute and funny.

"Awe, you're trying," he teases, lifting my chin up with his thumb and forefinger when I look down with distaste. "But no, you'll be considered my girl. Think of it as a werewolf marking you as their own, but I simply called dibs on you without having to go through any of the trouble. Our first outing together will be the dance in only a matter of days. Remember to wear something pretty, doll. Although, if you want to wear something like you do now, I certainly won't complain."

I deny his request and announce that I already have a date. And when he questions who it is, I make up a lie and tell him it's Vylad. Vylad wouldn't mind me using his name in a lie and would ask me if I really needed him to. He makes a comment of me "rubbing salt in someone else's wounds" and leans down only to leave a sloppy kiss against my head. I shake his words away, but it bothers me that he felt that he was entitled to kiss me the way he just did and to think that I'm some object that he's allowed to own.

He's a pig.

"Don't think that what has gone on here isn't actually going to play out, sweetheart. Everyone will know my words, and I'm not drunk, or stupid, enough to forget them. You can stay here for a little bit more and enjoy yourself as my arm candy, or you can waste your time and leave. Either way my work is done here, and I'll see you in a week. Better mark that date on your calendar, my love."

He walks away and I pull out my phone only to text Vylad that I want to leave. No, I need to leave right now before I make an outburst of my own that won't be pretty either. I'm going crazy, and this is all because of Vylad and everyone else on his side. I'm not an object, and I refuse to be treated like one!

In a matter of seconds, he texts back and tells me that he's only a short walk away and he'd meet me half way there but gives me his address nonetheless. I make my way towards the bedroom door, but words stop me only for a second.

"How dare you bring up Vylad to hurt me," the voice says, but I don't turn my head back to know who it belongs to. The jokes on her. I'm one to think that all angels should be the same, but I'm beginning to understand why my parents hate the other so much. "What have you done to get him wrapped around your finger the way you do? What happened between now and then?"

"I don't know but maybe it's because we're beginning to see why Aphmau keeps everyone away from you riffraff," I snap back, holding tightly against my phone as my knuckles turn white. "I mean, you're all the same after all."

And maybe Aphmau's correct. Maybe no angel really is good enough for a pure except another pure. I don't know anymore, but my words are hurtful, that is for sure.

But of course, she's a hypocrite. He talks the world of her but then finishes up with how she pushes him away. Maybe she really isn't good enough for Vylad. And even if I don't like him, an angel like me, a pure, is the right match for him. The pures would only have to try and find the right girl.
