Alfred is acting like the big bro/mom to the colonies even as they grow older.

________________________________________________

Alfred was always the strongest colony. He had super strength, dashing speed, and vast intellect. He was always reading or training when England and France weren't around, which was practically all the time. This lead to Alfred being the caretaker to his siblings and even his Spanish cousins. He would cook them meals, give them baths, read them stories, and play with them when they were sad or bored. He even helped them learn to read and speak their respected languages. All while the three empires were away, conquering more of their lands. This is why when England wanted to send America back to his homeland all of the colonies protested. Even Romano tries to persuade Spain to let Alfred stay, as he had grown to respect the younger colony. But the three empires didn't listen and took Alfred to the docks the following dawn with his siblings. Alfred bid them all farewell as he kissed their foreheads and embraced them tightly. He then grabbed his one bag he was allowed to pack and boarded the ship to the New World, waving to his crying, small siblings.

After the Revolutionary War, Alfred made it a priority to visit his siblings. England was always bitter when he saw how all the colonies would hug and approach Alfred like he was their parent. It angered all three of them, which is why he was banned from seeing them. He still got to see them during world meetings though and would often bring them some homemade gifts. Alfred was like their protector, so rightfully they would stand by his word and trusted him. After the three empires began to lose colonies, they would often find Alfred was housing them and patching their wounds. Other nations grew to either love or hate America because of that. Nations like Portugal, Belgium, and the Nordics respected Alfred for standing by his family. While Turkey, China, and the former empires thought it to be disrespectful.

As more and more colonies became nations, they would often flock to America's side when they went to meetings. They would also go to nations who were close to America: Prussia, Russia, and Hungary were the nations they went to mostly. After a couple centuries, America grew to be the sole superpower with some of his closest allies following his example. Canada specifically was quite strong and extremely intelligent. But this often meant that the family would be harassed by America's enemies. Alfred, of course, always came to their defense. But one time in particular really made the point clear.

PARIS, FRANCE
WORLD CONFERENCE

The nations all began to take their seats as the meeting began. The meeting was quick to turn to chaos thanks to an ever oblivious Italian, so many fights began to break out. America liked to stay out of all the physical chaos and would often sit back and look at how foolish everyone was acting. This time was no exception as he sat back and watched England and France strangle each other, again. His younger sister, Mexico, sat by his side.

"Hermano, do you think we'll ever have a normal meeting?" she asked while munching on a churro.

"I think that it might take a few centuries before we can ever get anything remotely done," Alfred tugged her close to him as a chair barely whizzed past her. He took another sip of soda when he noticed Cuba walking towards Canada. Cuba was the only siblings who despised him, for some odd reason Cuba just never liked his older brother.

"What's Cuba doing?" Mexico whispered. Alfred kept watch and noticed a bat in Cuba's hand.

"Fuck no," Alfred got up abruptly and quickly approached Cuba. His face made it clear that he was very upset, so fights instantly parted so he could pass. Right as Cuba raised the bat to Canada's head, America grabbed it with his inhuman strength, "now Cuba, I know you aren't that stupid to blatantly attack my brother while I'm present. So, might I ask what you're doing?"

"B-but...he...you!"

"I'm listening Cuba, spit it out already," Alfred's voice chilled the entire room, "I'm getting awfully impatient with this crap you pull. Mattie and I differ in many ways physically, for example," America kneed Cuba in the stomach and snatched his cheek to look at Canada, "his eyes are purple like France, mine are blue. His hair is long and can be put into ponytails and buns, mine is not. He has a curl on his head like the Italies while I have an ahoge. He's paler than I am and carries his pet polar bear, Kumajiro, everywhere. So, enlighten me on how you constantly confuse us when we look very different from each other," Alfred's venomous voice made the entire room shiver.

"I...I don't know...I'm sorry-"

"Save it Cuba. If I ever find that you tried to hurt anyone of my siblings, you'll find out just how strong I can be," he let Cuba fall from his grasp, "and that goes for everyone in this room," he added glaring. Most nations gulped at the scary American as he stomped away to let out steam.

"V-Ve~ When did America get so scary?!" Italy asked as he quivered behind Germany.

"Alfred has always protected us, especially as colonies. He's always been there for us," Mexico explained with a smile.

"Now wait a bloody moment! What is that supposed to mean?! We were there too!" England argued.

"Tch, yeah right bastard!" Romano added with an eye roll, "February 8th, 1515: Peru and Ecuador caught whooping cough and none of you were there to help! Alfred made them remedies and cooked them meals! Alfred helped them bathe and read them stories when they had nightmares! Alfred even made sure none of the other colonies went near them by quarantining themselves in the west wing!"

"Well, zat was different! We still-" France tried to defend but was cut off by Canada.

"August 28th, 1532: Philippines and I caught scarlet fever. Alfred did the exact same thing! You three were home when that was happening, but were too busy in your offices to even notice that we were sick!"

"October 3rd, 1576: a smallpox outbreak overtook the house. You all had just left for another venture two days before. Even while he himself was sick, he still cooked meals and cleaned the house. He took care of every one of us, whether we were vomiting chunks from our mouths or have extreme nightmares!" Australia added.

"July 8th, 1549: New Zealand, Colombia, and Hong Kong got pneumonia from playing in the river! Alfred stayed up all night as they puked and cried! He sang them lullabies and made up stories to help them go to sleep! The medicine was too expensive when he went to get it the first time, so he began running errands for different people and broke his back to earn enough money and buy the medicine!" Mexico finished as she crossed her arms. The other nations were stunned at the few stories they were being told. The three empires were stunned silent as they looked down in shame.

"Alfred was more of a parent than all of three of you combined," the Philippines stated as she got up from her seat, "I'm going to see if he's ok," she left the room quietly. Many of the other ex-colonies got up and went to find their brother. Many nations looked to the empires with disapproving faces as they also left them alone.

They had a lot to think about, to say, but most importantly~

They had gained whole new respect for their former colony.
