Oneshot 33

This one is going to be relatively shorter.

I got the inspiration from the scene in 'Sleeping Beauty' where Maleficent is luring Aurora to her spinning wheel

Please, Enjoy it!

America was known to be quite a beautiful nation. He was the land of dreams, land of hope, land of freedom. You could be anything in America, no matter what your life was like before. This is why America's people became a blend of all the nations. People from everywhere flocked to America's shores in hopes of getting something greater. Wealth, religious freedom, just a fresh start. This made a lot of the nations envious, very envious. Alfred, despite being so kind to them, could never seem to appease their standards. He found himself often in the middle of a whirlwind of insults, which he took with a smile on his innocent face. He suffered in this agonizing silence for years, decades even. But he never knew that the nations never meant a single word. It was anger and jealousy that spat insults, not the nations themselves.

But, one day, Alfred crumbled. He finally felt every ounce of his self-worth diminish. Even his own brother, Canada, would mock him. Depressed and lonely, Alfred relied on any other type of interaction. This normally got him even more hurt, as they often came in the form of humans. But one friend was NOT human at all. In his darkest moment, he was crying into his mirror and whaling to the Heavens. A man's voice came from in front of him and Alfred looked up to see a handsome man with curly black hair and snowy white skin. His eyes were a piercing navy and his smile seemed sinister, despite his sugary tone.

His name was Damian and he was a powerful sorcerer. He was evil to his core and was able to trick Alfred into believing he was his friend. He often would appear in mirrors to talk to Alfred, to cheer him up and such. But in actuality, Damian was there because he wanted revenge on the man who cursed him to his prison. England exiled him there, after a battle for power. He was trapped in the realm of mirrors, doomed to forever be alone and to never gaze upon his own reflection. This made him bitter, as Damian was a very vain man. He adored his charming appearance, which made him resent the nation.

He would watch England with disgust from his mirror world, looking for something to use against him. Then, Alfred appeared one night in Arthur's arms. He concocted a plan, he was going to capture Alfred and challenge Arthur again. In order to do this, he had to gain Alfred's friendship and trust. It just so happened that the other nations bullied and Damian had the perfect cover mission to befriend the younger blonde nation. He knew the time to act was soon, so, during the intermission of a meeting, he made his final move.

Alfred bursted into the bathroom and locked the door behind him. He ran to the toilet and bent down, throwing up chunks from feeling ill. The insults made him queasy nowadays, so he could barely keep down his food. It made him sad to think that the other nations detested him. Once he was done, he flushed the toilet and went to the mirror to swish some water in his mouth. He began to silently cry into the sink with tears flying off of his glowing cheeks. His sobs were making his entire body tremble.

"Darling, what troubles you?" Damian's voice echoed from the mirror.

"Oh, hi Damian. It's nothing, I promise I'm fine. It's just allergies, everything is ok!" Alfred answered quickly. He cocked his eyebrow at the younger boy.

"You and I both know that is not true. My dear friend, please tell me your troubles,"

"It's just, I can't take much more of their hatred, Damian. Their putrid disgust towards me just hurts me so much. I wanna escape, I don't wanna be here anymore," Alfred cried into his palms. Damian smirked but quickly changed to a sympathetic expression.

"Now, sweet sweet child. Please, dry your tears. You do not deserve this horrible barbaric treatment. They do not deserve you, my darling star,"

"But I can't leave them, there is no escaping their words. I'm doomed to be hated forever, so long as my nation prospers I'm in this fucking torture called my life," Alfred sniffed as he blew his nose with a paper towel. Damian pretended to think, but he knew what to do. His plan was finally coming together.

"My child, let me take your place! I can leave the realm if you agree to fill my place! I will make sure those wretched animals pay for all the pain they caused you!"

"You'd really beat them up for me?"

"Of course! I'll defend your honor and you can relax in my realm and watch!"

"Ok, I want to do this! But how?"

"Just say 'importo replicato' while your hand is on the mirror and we will switch places. Say it, my darling sweetness,"

"Ok! I'm ready Damian!" Alfred placed his hand gently on the glass and it began to glow, "importo replicato!" as soon as Alfred uttered the spell, the mirror began to suck Alfred in. Screaming in a sudden fit of terror, Alfred fell into the mirror and Damian popped out.

"Ah~ It's wonderful to see you my old friend," Damian caressed his reflection as Alfred appeared next to him.

"Damian, how will I get out after you defend me?"

"You won't," Damian laughed at the mortified expression on Alfred's face, "such a desperate soul you were. Now, I can finally conquer Arthur and prove I'm the most powerful! I'm afraid this is farewell, Alfred. It was a pleasure!" Damian cackled as Alfred was banging on his mirror's side.

"NO!!! WAIT!!! DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!!! PLEASE, COME BACK!!! DAMIAN!!! DAMIAN!!!"

Damian stormed into the conference hall with a gust of wind, startling all the nations. His evil snickers became the only sound as he walked into the room, adorning his cloak and medieval garments. Arthur, Lukas, and Vlad stood up immediately with their wands in hand.

"Oh, no no no. This is between me and Arthur!" Damian swung his arm and all the nations were bound to invisible seats, "I want your fellow nations to watch me destroy you, Kirkland!"

"How the bloody hell did you escape?!"

"The moment back in the 1500s, when I saw that cute little colony of yours, I knew he was my method of escape," Damian opened a bubble and the nations saw Alfred banging on different mirrors, crying out loudly for Damian. Arthur's eyes widened when he saw Alfred trying to free himself.

"But, he couldn't replace-"

"Oh, but he did. It was your own ignorance that made it so easy to earn his trust. Alfred has been lonely and depressed for decades, he used me to vent his troubles. It was easy to act like I cared, I'm a very cunning man as you know. Maybe next time you'll think about the feelings of the others before you speak. The entire reason he talked to me was because he had thought you all hated his very existence, quite foolish," Arthur began to tear up and power began to flow around him.

"How dare you?" he growled lowly, "HOW DARE YOU!!!" England's voice boomed as his eyes began to glow green. Tears began to pool from the glow as the wind picked up. The other nations were happy that they were spelled to forcefully sit in these invisible seats. Damian raised his hands to cast another spell, but England lifted his right hand and blasted a ball of energy at him. It was obvious Arthur was furious, blinded by raging fury, "I WILL END YOUR DESPICABLE LIFE!!! YOU DISGUSTING, WORTHLESS DONKEY!!!"

"AH, ARE YOU THAT UPSET THAT YOUR PUNCHING BAG IS GONE?! HOW HUMOROUS!" Damian blasted one last time, but it was deflected by England. The nation's powerful aura spiraled around him. Damian began to back up, finding himself cornered between an angry England and the cold window. With clenched fists, Arthur began to gather energy.

"Rot in Hell you bastard," he growled as he aimed the energy and shot Damian. The man screamed in agony as his body burned to ash and the window shattered loudly. As soon as England glanced at the broken window, he collapsed to his knees and cried, "Alfred... I'm so sorry," Arthur whimpered into his open palms. Many nations ran to the British man's side, embracing him or trying to console him.

"Angleterre is everyzing-"

"NO, IT'S NOT!!! ALFRED'S TRAPPED IN THE MIRROR REALM AND IT'S ALL OUR FAULT!!!" England cried harder as France embraced his tired, trembling body. Germany decided to dismiss the meeting early, he couldn't finish the meeting knowing the truth about America's feelings. Arthur stayed back with Canada and France, still very upset. The trio went to the bathroom and decided to wash their faces. When they looked up, England gulped, "Alfred?" he shakingly whispered. Just then, Alfred appeared and looked at the small group.

"Wh-why are you crying?" Alfred asked as he tilted his head. Canada's head shot up and he jumped onto the marble counter, banging the glass.

"Alfie! Alfie oh my God I'm sorry!" Canada cried as he put his strong hands over Alfred's.

"Zere 'as to be a way to release you from zat prison," France also grazed his knuckles against the thin glass. Arthur suddenly knew what to do after seeing France's fist. He began to chant something quietly and clenched his fist, reeling it back and without warning punched the mirror. The glass broke around his fist as a temporary portal opened up.

"Alfred, grab my hand!"

"But, I thought-"

"Alfie please grab dad's hand! We don't hate you! We never did! We were jealous of you! So please, just take England's hand!!!" Canada shouted. Alfred grabbed Arthur's hand and the elder tried to pull him through. However, the task was proving to be difficult. Arthur's strength wasn't enough, so Francis and Matthew stuck one hand into the portal and pulled. Alfred flew out from the mirror and the three embraced him tightly as they fell backward. With Alfred on top of them, the three elder nations tightly embraced him and cried into his jacket.

"Oh, Amerique... Next time tell zomeone! We would be devastated if you left us!"

"Really?" he asked.

"Of course Alfie! You mean a lot to so many people! We care aboot you, eh!"

"We love you so much, Alfred! So bloody much!" England kissed America's forehead. Alfred blushed and smiled at his wacky family. He's glad he was free, now they could live happily. No more secrets or hate, only love and real happiness.
