04 | MAIAU

Yamato clenched the small flip phone in his hand as he leaned forward in the division between the driver's and the passenger's seat. His forehead is dripping with cold sweat while his lips are pale from fright. He had been telling the taxi driver to step on the gas and hurry up. The driver did not dare to talk back and just focused on driving at a much faster speed.

Fortunately, it is in the middle of the day. The roads are not crowded so the taxi easily crossed the lanes without any problems. Yamato watched the way with rapt attention and when he found a familiar establishment he told the driver to park nearby. The driver is still shifting gears when he opened the door while tossing a couple of bills before running away.

He did not care if he paid too much as he quickly entered a small public hospital. He paused for a while to let the security checked his stuff then he hurriedly went to the nearby counter. There are only a handful of nurses answering inquiries from people. He is anxiously waiting for an available person when from the corner of his eyes he caught a familiar figure.

This familiar figure has a tall stature. However, he seems to be bowing towards a belly man giving him off a weak and fragile vibe. Yamato could not hear what they are talking about but he could see the rims of his nephew's eyes red. The youth looks like he was wronged! Before Yamato could go and ask what's up, the other person slapped his nephew!

Slap!

It was loud and crisp that the noisy hallways suddenly become quiet. All their eyes are looking in one direction. Yamato did not expect that his nephew will be humiliated like this. He walked towards the belly man with long strides then grabbed the tall youth and placed him on his back. Yamato faced the offender with a black face and started pointing fingers at him.

"Who gave you the permission to slap my nephew like that?" Yamato roared angrily. He is almost close to punching the other person. "I tell you, I will sue you for harassment. To even dare to raise a hand to this child..."

The belly man was surprised when a new person arrived. It took him time to realize what happened. Being pointed is very insulting to which quickly made him mad. He is already angry about what happened to his shop earlier and then here comes another person starting to point fingers at him. What did he do to have this kind of treatment?

"You are blaming me? Blaming ME?" The belly man scoffed, showing an apprehensive face. "If not because of me your good nephew would be in jail right now. If not because of me, he would be accused of assault or physical injury. That slap could not even count to the possible things that would happen to him!"

"Assault? Physical injury?" Yamato suddenly paled.

He turned around to check the state of his nephew. The person in question, named Masahiro Takumi, is still lowering his head unmoved. Yamato did not hesitate to turn his nephew all around to see if he is hurt. Seeing that he is fine, he heaved a sigh. He looks at the belly man with a sneer.

"Why would my nephew suddenly hurt someone? It doesn't mean that he looked tall and intimidating it means that he is capable of hurting people. He must have a reason to do it," Yamato pointed out.

He was worried when he heard that his nephew was in the hospital. He did not think twice to leave his post in the office and hurried to check the young man. Seeing that Takumi is fine, then there must be another person. He was a bit muddle-headed earlier due to the shock. He calmed down then properly analyzed the situation.

Yamato is no longer hostile so it is the belly man's turn to raise his feathers. He had done the best that he can to help the kid and not get implicated. Yet, here comes this busy body suddenly muttering nonsense. What kind of bad deed did he do to deserve such treatment?

"I've already paid for the expenses. About the case, you handle it yourself. I am kind to people but I am not a saint. You are fired. You go and get your stuff in your locker later. Don't worry, you will still receive proper compensation," he announced.

The belly man did not want to bother anymore and left with a huff. The two people watched as the figure walked away and gone after turning a corner. The people also realized that the show ended so they returned to doing their stuff. Yamato heaved a sigh then faced Takumi. The cowering figure of the tall man made him look inferior instead.

"Hey, tell me what happened. What did you do this time?" Yamato slowly asked.

Takumi did not talk and just brought his uncle to the nearby ward. A familiar figure is seen to be sitting on a work table while a person is lying on the hospital bed. Yamato did not dare to get close to the sleeping person so he went straight to the doctor in charge. The doctor already heard them coming so he just made a short check on the paper he is holding then greeted the two people with an amiable smile.

Yamato knows this doctor. He is a foreign classmate he met in high school. His name is Victor Bella, an alpha. He is not a stranger to this man so he quickly inquired about the events. Takumi refused to answer so it means that he is at fault in this situation. Yamato wanted to know if Takumi offended someone big.

"You don't have to worry. From what I've learned from the boss, Takumi tackled this person when he thought that he was stealing. It was just a simple defense but it made this guy faint," Victor said.

"He fainted? Did he receive concussions?"

"No, at most, people would only feel sprain from getting twisted like that," Victor glanced at Takumi with a meaningful smile. "It's just that this person's body is already stressed and hungry. Takumi's action just pulled the last straw so he fainted."

Yamato heaved a sigh of relief. He did not know what to do if Takumi indeed made this man invalid.

"Then how about now? Is he doing fine?"

"Don't worry. We already made checks and the results showed that he is fine. He just needs sleep and rest. He is probably just overworked for so long and his body finally caved in."

The sentence is only light. Yamato faced his cowering nephew and rapped his forehead with his finger. The youth showed pain but he let the uncle punish him. Yamato is a soft-hearted person so he stopped it. He looked at Victor with gratitude. This doctor had helped them multiple times. He could not tell what kind of compensation he could give.

"Then, what should we do? Shall we wait for him to wake up?" Yamato asked.

"... Uncle..." Takumi called out. "Let's just go home."

Yamato did not expect Takumi to suggest leaving. He looked at the young man with disbelief. Takumi shook his head then gave the doctor a look. Victor can see signals coming from the youth's eyes. He patted Yamato's shoulder then agreed on Takumi's decision.

"Takumi is right. It would be better for you guys to go now," Victor said.

Yamato is feeling perplexed. "Is it right? Is it all right to just leave?"

"There is no problem with that," Victor said. "You already paid for the expenses. Also, we do not know when will the patient wake up. Would you want to wait until tomorrow to watch him?"

"You... you have a point..."

Yamato is just a salaryman. His wages are little if not a bit better than other workers. He already made penalties for going out today without permission. Surely, he could not miss tomorrow's work too. Yamato nodded in approval and told the doctor a few more words. As he was to say goodbye a sudden thought made him stop.

"I just realized it now. That belly guy whatever told us that Takumi will be sued for physical injury or assault. It is clear that my nephew is just doing self-defense. What is that guy up to?"

"It's just a misunderstanding," Victor smiled. There's no way that Takumi will attack someone suddenly right? And in the broad daylight too."

"That's true," Yamato nodded though he thought that there must be a reason. Victor patted his back again to shift his attention.

"Maybe he is just mad at you for suddenly accusing him. He just probably said those words out of anger."

Yamato knows that he is also muddleheaded earlier so he accepted the explanation. He said his last words and brought Takumi with him. Victor watched the door for a while before returning to his job again. His slim hands beautifully held the pen writing numbers and records. His eyes suddenly darted towards the magazine in the corner. It was covered with miscellaneous stuff but he had seen this magazine before and the person on the front cover.

What could be the reason that belly man said that Takumi might be sued?

It is because of the identity of the person lying on the bed. Yamato and Takumi might not be able to recognize the man. It might be because the latter is an omega and the former is a beta. Both of their circles would not touch the Alpha territories. They might hear some news about influential people but they are not informed to such highly classed people.

It just so happen that the belly man owned a few chains of stores and Victor being alpha are always all ears on the Alpha society. This guy, known to be Takahashi Midori, is not a person they should offend. Takumi might not do it on purpose but a little money is enough to bring a person down. That is why the belly man warned them that Midori will file charges against them.

But Victor highly doubted that.

This Midori Takahashi is a rich man. Why would he bother with a nobody? Plus, Victor is sure that Midori isn't the type of person to become a pushover. If anything else, he would just ask Takumi to apologize to him in person. Thus, Victor no longer mulled over this event. He just focused on reading prescriptions and waited till the patient will wake up.
