03 | MAIAU
It has been a long time that he slept this long.
Midori was awoken by the sound of a small slap.
It was like walking in dark consciousness then suddenly the director called out a loud 'cut'. The person lying opened his eyes in a frown then blinked due to the unknown haze. He can see that he was looking at something bright but he could not quite understand what it is. Midori suffered from myopia and anything farther than a ruler will give him a blurry figure.
However, this tense emotion was suddenly recovered after smelling the familiar scent of disinfectant and dull medicine. In addition, the soft rhythmic voice coming from speakers announced a string of names with medical titles. Anyone hearing this will guess that they were staying in a hospital. Midori gathered his thoughts for a while before he realized the reason why he is here.
Ah, he fainted. But, is that enough to bring him to the hospital?
"Sir?" A gentle female voice called out.
Midori shifted his gaze towards the source of the voice and saw an outline of a female wearing something white. By the way, the person called him, she must be a nurse. Midori did not answer but instead tried sitting up. The nurse did not ask more questions and just helped him to adjust to a more comfortable position.
He wasn't hurt that badly to have someone help him but somehow Midori felt weak. That's when a slight pain made its existence on his right hand. He took a look at it by reflex and found out that he was connected with an IV drip. This made him pale in comparison. Is his condition really that bad that he needed to have a drip connected to him?
Midori did not notice the other person in the room, not until the other person moved. The doctor saw the frown from the patient's face, seeing its complete confusion. He took the records of the test that 'somebody' made him do before walking towards Midori. The nurse helped Midori to recover his glasses.
In a much clearer view, the room is different from the size that he imagined. It was small and a bit cramped, with three hospital beds placed in a few foot distance. A curtain was draped in between the beds to serve as a division while each side has a small cabinet table. This room looks more like a school clinic than a hospital ward.
Midori is staying on the innermost bed seeing the whole room completely. The two other beds have the curtains draped over covering the whole thing, so he assumed that he is the only patient staying in the room. Upon understanding his situation, the doctor in-charge arrived beside him.
The doctor is a young male, maybe just between twenty-five to thirty, and looking extremely gentle. He is just standing there but the aura that he emits makes people relax and view him as a docile animal. He is like the person that will make you smile whenever or whatever the situation. This kind of temperament is good especially in taking good care of children.
However, Midori had a long experienced life that he can easily see the doctor's true color. He might have a gentle and kind atmosphere but only a few people know that he is much fierce inside. Though, Midori has no qualms about him. If this guy managed to stay in this field with that attitude, then he must not be someone simple.
Midori wanted to ask the reason why he is here but his throat is hoarse. The nurse has already foreseen the event since she quickly handed a warm glass of water. Midori sipped the water slowly until his throat become moist. The doctor need not hear the question to know what Midori is thinking.
"Don't worry," the doctor said. "Aside from the small bump in your head, there is nothing to worry about. It's just that your body is in too much fatigue and has low blood sugar. Your body collapsed, plus with what 'that person' did, your body caved inside in one instant."
The company is currently at the busiest time of the year. Midori has been awake for so long with occasional naps, but that is not enough to replenish his energy. He also seldom eats, mostly are energy packs, so his body protested after the long run.
Fortunately, the business is at its end process so there is no need to suffer. It is just that his body can no longer wait for that period and abandoned his great will. Added by the accident that happened earlier, Midori will surely fall. Speaking of the accident, where is the one who caused him in this state?
Despite the smell of antiseptic, Midori could still recognize the scent of the alpha doctor and the beta nurses that are helping. He tried searching for the scent of that certain person but he could not detect it. Perhaps that person only just abandoned him after that sudden attack?
"Where is the person who sent me here?" Midori asked.
"Hmm?" The doctor sauntered towards the nearby table and picked something up. "Ah, that bear?"
Midori did not remember seeing a bear. "What bear?"
"I mean the large guy," the doctor chuckled. "Don't you think he looks like a bear?"
"I wasn't able to see him clearly," Midori pushed his glasses up. True, he wasn't able to see that guy clearly but to describe him as a bear... rather, Midori thought that he looks like a lion in some sort.
"Anyways, it seems that guy made a mistake so he left a message in there," the doctor walked towards Midori and handed him a familiar-looking wallet. Midori immediately accepted the object and opened it. He saw a piece of paper folded in one of the pockets of the wallet. He unfolds the paper and reads its content.
I'm sorry. It mistook you for a shoplifter.
The money inside the wallet is left untouched while the cards are resting neatly in the corners. It seems that that guy retrieved the wallet for him and even left a note to apologize. However, Midori frowned. It is good to say sorry but at least that guy should have left his name or number or something. He should have left a trace so Midori could contact him if ever he wanted to complain.
Very unprofessional, tsk tsk.
The doctor somehow can tell what the alpha is thinking and chuckled. He walked back towards the table and took a notepad. He flipped a few pages over then tore a page after writing something on it. He handed the paper to Midori who placed the note back to the wallet and tucked it on his pants.
"Trust me, that kid is not bad. Actually, he paid for your medical fees," the doctor uttered. "However, he is somewhat irresponsible. Here is the receipt of payment. He got his information there. I shouldn't be giving this to anybody but seeing that you're the victim here..."
Midori understood his message. He accepted the paper and read its contents. The receipt showed the common format with the clinic's name, address, official number, etc. After the "NAME" tag, the name Masahiro Takumi is nicely written. Midori is somehow surprised.
It was said that handwriting represents a person's character. Then this Masahiro Takumi must be some scholarly person or such since he can see it by the way how he writes his characters. It wasn't stiff but not too bubbly, just a bit refined. The force of the pen is also light since it did not leave any bumpy marks on the back of the paper.
Midori was not able to see his face but he somehow was able to remember that guy's body built. In that size and this handwriting, his appearance did not match his character at all. He thought that you shouldn't really base people on their looks. That guy, Takumi, seems to be different from his first impression.
