As the Akatsuki held the line against Wrath's shadow creatures, Wrath uses Kamui to warp himself and Itachi far from the hideout. When they reached the desolate area, Itachi found himself face to face with Wrath. Memories flooded of the day that Wrath killed his mother. 

Itachi: Wrath.....

Wrath: Itachi Aizawa....how wonderful to see you alive and well. 

Itachi was filled with rage. Itachi readied his Sharingan and prepared to attack. As he did, Itachi stopped himself. Remembering his father's words, he restrained himself. Wrath noticed this. 

Wrath: Why the hesitation Itachi? Strike me down. Achieve you destiny. 

Itachi wanted nothing more than to kill Wrath. But his thoughts fell on not only his father, but on Yaoyorozu and his mother. He remembered how the last time he attacked Wrath in anger and how it nearly killed him. 

Itachi: No Wrath. I won't play your game. 

Wrath: You misunderstand me Itachi. I never wished to end your life. I never meant for any of this to happen. My aims are the same of all Heroes. The only difference is that they are not willing to do what is necessary. The Day Of the Golden Dawn is this world's salvation. 

Itachi said nothing as he got into a fighting stance. Wrath lets out a sign. 

Wrath: Do not let yourself be destroyed as your mother did. Listen to reason Itachi. 

Itachi: This ends now Wrath. I will bring you to justice for all that you've done. 

Wrath: Very well then Itachi. I'll just have to neutralize you. You're far too important to my plans to kill. 

Wrath then formed a shadow sword from his palm and saluted Itachi. Itachi made the first move by charging at Wrath. As Wrath was about to defend the attack, Itachi jumped above Wrath and prepared for a strike. As he did, Wrath used Kamui to phase through the attack. 

Wrath: I'm impressed Itachi. You have learned much since our last encounter. But you will need more than that to defeat me. 

Itachi then uses Amaterasu and enclosed Wrath in a circle of black flames. Wrath simply laughs it off. 

Wrath: Impressive, but futile. 

Wrath uses Kamui to phase through warp out of the area. He suddenly appears behind Itachi and begins attacking him with the shadow sword, but Itachi's Sharingan allows him to anticipate his movements.

Wrath: You visual prowess is a wonder to behold! 

Itachi and Wrath engage in an intense fight. As Itachi tries to land a blow, Wrath continued to use Kamui to phase through the attacks while landing small slashes with his shadow sword. Itachi realizes that Wrath easily surpasses him in power. 

Itachi: (He's too powerful! How can I....No...calm down. Think Itachi. Everyone has a weakness.)

Wrath: Why struggle Itachi? Can't you see that you're only prolonging the inevitable? Cease this pointless struggle. Embrace your destiny Itachi. 

As Wrath began walking towards Itachi, Itachi decided on a risky plan. He looked right into Wrath's eyes and activated his Sharingan. As soon as he did, the shadow sword in Wrath's hand dispersed. Wrath was impressed. 

Wrath: Clever Itachi. Very clever. Now you have 30 seconds before my Quirk is rendered active once more. What will you do in that small frame of time?

Itachi: The best I can!

Itachi wasted no time in attacking Wrath. Along with his Shadow Quirk, Wrath's Sharingan was also disabled. This left him unable to use Kamui to phase through his attacks. Despite this, Wrath still proved to be more than a match for Itachi. 

Wrath: Your time is short Itachi. Don't waste your opportunity.

Itachi ignored Wrath's taunts as he tried to find an opening to Wrath's defense. As he tries, Itachi remembered one of his training sessions with his father. With only a few seconds left, Itachi feigned managed to parry one of Wrath's strikes and summons a Susanoo arm and strikes Wrath with enough force to send him flying through an abandoned building. The attack leaves Wrath's masked cracked and reveals his eyes. 

Wrath: What a clever plan Itachi. Perhaps I underestimate you. 

As Wrath said that, his Quirk and Sharingan were restored. Itachi then activated his Susanoo and the orange humanoid towered over Wrath. 

Wrath: So you're mastered the Susanoo? Most impressive Itachi! You truly are a prodigy of the Sharingan! But you still have much to learn!

Itachi then willed the Susanoo to swing it's arm at Wrath, but Wrath used Kamui to warp through his attack. 

Wrath: Perhaps it's not our time yet. We have plenty of time before the Day of the Golden Dawn. Goodbye Itachi. 

Itachi: You're not getting away from me!

As Itachi launched a Amaterasu attack on Wrath, he had already warped away. After the Amaterasu attack, the effects of overusing his Sharingan took effect as his eyes began to bleed and his vision blurred. 

Itachi: No......

Itachi took a moment to rest. As he did, he heard a loud crash and the ground began to shake beneath him. He looked to the sky and saw the a large cloud of smoke rising from where the hideout was. After a moment of rest, Itachi gets up and begins making his way back to the Akatsuki. In that moment, the raid to capture Wrath was a failure. Itachi was left even more disturbed as Wrath's promise and dedication to unleash the Day of the Golden Dawn upon the world. For now, the Akatsuki had to regroup and plan their next move.
