Chapter One: Dog Gone Chicken!

"Come on, Poky!" Mom yelled from down the hall. As Poky Jo bounded in from the living room whining, Mom could tell immediately that something was wrong.

"Hey, Katherine! Why don't you come figure out what's wrong with this dog?"

"Coming Mom!" I yelled, finishing up my homework. I bolted down the hall, until I came across a glimpse of our dog wailing. I covered my ears, "Hey, mom! What's wrong?" I yelled.

"I don't know!" she yelled back. "Why don't you try and reason with him?"

"Oh! Okay," I said, doubtfully. As I slowly uncovered my ears, I said, in a calm, cool voice, "Hey, Poky."

Instantly he stopped wailing. "What's wrong pal?" I asked.

He began to bark. It was a little bit hard to understand him, but I leaned in. The closer and closer I got, the more I could understand him.

"So what is he saying?" she demanded.

"He says he's nervous"

"About what?" mom questioned.

        "The agility training" I explained.

"Oh, well...in that case, why don't you come with me to drop Poky off at his agility training" she suggested.

"Oh, okay," I said, thrilled.
