Backstory: Troy Crimson AKA Barricade was a captain to the high Guard, following the defeat of the primes and the betrayal of Atlas Blade, Barricade alongside the rest of the high guards retreated a secret hide out. As Starscream leaded the high gaurd, Troy saw in his eyes Starscream was pathetic and a coward, sending some of the high guard to they're fates they did not deserve while he was cowarding away. 

When Grant Winters the son of Shatter Glass Megatron Levi Winters and the others were captured and mistaken as spies, Troy was inspired by what Megatron had in him, Courage, Leadership and never backs down. When Grant faced off Starscream, Troy began cheering on for Grant. As Grant won against Starscream, Troy cheered on for him until Blackarachnia captured them... Troy still locked up to Grant after he killed Sentinel and took his core. 

As they we're banished, Troy still sided with Grant and his brother after they formed a new alliance together.
