Chapter two
I needed to get out of bed if I was going to get anything done. I couldn't find my mate if I was sulking all day long in my room.
My wolf, Sonia, was itching to go for a run. It had been so long since I released her. Both of us needed that liberation at this time. I wanted to feel again, gain the connection with myself again. I wasn't going to lose it.
I climbed off the bed and went to the bathroom. My own reflection made me cringe. I looked like a crazy person, but even crazy people had a better appearance than me. My hair had tangles, uneven strands of hair sticking out on the sides. Those tangles were surely going to make me regret staying in bed for so long.
I also had dark circles under my eyes due to the lack of sleep. My eyes were bloodshot and a bit swollen from all the crying. I stayed in bed that long but sleep was far from my mind.
I lazily dragged myself to the shower and stood there for a while before washing my hair. I applied a considerable amount of conditioner that I thought would soften it. I was trying to minimise my misery when I decide to comb it.
"Zoey come help me do my hair it has so many tangles," I mind linked my younger sister.
Almost immediately as if she was waiting for my voice," oh shit! Stacey how are you? We have been worried about you. What style do you want? Should I also come with my make up kit? Oh wait, you said hair. Oh okay."
I just waited for her to finish her endless chatter but damn if I didn't miss my sister's voice.
"Sorry I'm just excited that you asked for me after this long," I could already imagine the smile on her face.
"No shit!"
"Your sarcasm always brightens my day sister," she retorted with an equally sarcastic tone.
Regardless she still did my hair and she did a good job. I swore never to keep my hair that long without tending to it.
I wore a white hoodie with a wolf head embroidered on the right side and black sweatpants. I was going to leave them in the forest after I shifted. I didn't want to head to the pack house naked in search of clothes.
How I did that in my past years, I don't know. I cringe remembering how I would walk naked in my teens because most wolves would see each other naked. How did that culture even evolve?
Sometimes the concept of been nude in front of the pack is weird but also allowed. Werewolves find no shame in showing their bodies. Actually some love it. This will help them find their mates faster, for those who look at physic.
I could already feel the stares as I left my room. All the wolves bowed as I walked past them. Some of them even mumbled greetings and asking if I was doing okay.
Of course I wasn't okay. Why would anyone ask me that? I look like shit and I lost my soul. Half of it. Didn't that person know that Xander was lost? I just continue walking without bothering about them before I said something that I would regret.
"Stacey,my dear," mom called me softly. I knew she was going to ask me to join them for breakfast. I also saw the transformation on myself for skipping meals. I wasn't that hungry at the moment.
"I'm just going for a run, then I'll have food later mom. I'm not really hungry now."
"Okay but immediately you come back, I'm the one feeding you."
I gave a her a small smile and left the pack house heading to the forest. I knew that if I tried to argue with her I would most definitely lose.

I had been running for a long time and at that exact moment I had never felt so free.
I had drowned all the sadness, all the bad memories and let myself enjoy the feel of the earth. The feel of the wind blowing thorough my fur. The smell of the grass and soil.
Regardless of my joy I still cautioned myself not to run beyond my territory. I knew that my neighbours weren't such great company to trespassers.
I still remember when I was little, me and Zoey accidentally crossed the boundaries. If I wasn't for our pack lockets we could have been toast.
Packs in our locations have symbols that represent us. Our pack, the Greenland pack, were symbolise with lockets. On the lockets was a symbol of a mountain, its believed that our ancestors lived there once. The mountains were also used for refuge, apparently, there was a war so bad they had to flee to them. It was unique in a way because on top of the mountain, there was a cloud that looked like a beautifully sculptured lady. When I was young we called her the 'lady of the skies'. I don't really know if those were facts or just tales.
Our neighbors, the Bloodshot pack, were symbolised with bracelets. They had these fancy black bracelets that had a red emerald stone at the middle. I would kill for one of those bracelets. I once had a friend there called Peter. I asked him to give me the bracelet for a day but he said that they couldn't come off. We even tried dropping a rock on it but it wouldn't bulge.
He told me that those bracelets were put on you when you were young and would definitely stay with you till your demise.
Sad I really wanted one of those. Then.
Other packs symbolised themselves with clothes. The Purity pack, wore white clothes with a gold waistband to distinguish their members. All there clothes were tailored to suit their culture. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Especially their alpha, Alpha Andrea, she is the most fashionable person I've ever met.
I've only met her once and I was in diapers. ( playful eye roll to myself)
I stopped dead on my tracks when I realised I had gone far than required. When I was talking to myself I had not been paying attention to my surroundings.
The black trees that surrounded me looked like actual terror. I could here owls and creepy cricket noises. I looked around trying to remember how I got here but each part looked alike.
I had trespassed here again. The only difference was that this time I was alone and this place looked creepy as fuck.
Come to think of it, The Bloodshot pack had a nice home when I was young.
Unfortunately when Alpha Demitris struck, he struck hard. He had personal issues with the Luna of the pack. Apparently they had history and he couldn't let go of the fact that she had found her mate. Alpha Elijah and Luna Chloe were very nice leaders.
After the attack I gathered as many pack members that were alive and moved them to my territory. We also looked for the Alpha and Luna but we didn't find them.
They joined the long list of missing people who the council has been looking for, the last two years.
I had rumours that he took her and Xander the night of the attack. I tried digging out for more clues but it was a dead end.
I was desperate to find that man.
My man.
I continued looked around and decided that a walk wouldn't hurt. My conscience was rebuking that idea ',that is what they all say before they end up dead'.
I walked slowly ensuring the noises I made were hushed and quiet. The place was so empty. It was as if all the pack members had deserted the place. In my pack even in the forest there was at least a sound of humans or wolfs barking.
This place on the other hand didn't show the existence of a human soul. What if Demitris had killed them all? No way!
He wouldn't do that!
Would he!
I continued on my trail until I reached a place where I saw an abandoned house. It looked so old even older than my grandmother who was a hundred and fifty years thanks to the werewolf aging.
I was tempted to go check it out when I couldn't get past where I was. There was like a protective barrier in my way. Only a witch could put a barrier spell that even I couldn't get through. I tried scratching with my claws but it wouldn't bulge. I left it at that but that wasn't the only surprise.
I saw a tall figure moving in the shadows. I wasn't sure but it looked like a man. It was hard to see clearly bearing in mind that I was in their territory. What caught my attention was the ring on their finger. It looked like a daylight ring.
Witches used to make those rings for vampires to allow them to walk in the sun without getting burned and dessicated. To define the daylight rings witches always placed a crystal that belonged to their coven. I said used because now it's forbidden to own a daylight ring.
The ring I was looking at had a green crystal, that belonged to Freya's coven, Vara.
God, I hated that witch with passion. Let's say we had unfinished business between us.
I noticed the stranger was edging closer to where I was and I decided to end this tour of mine. If it was one of the warriors I don't know how I would explain myself. With one last glance at the stranger I ran.
I turned back and took off trying to find my way back home.
As I ran home the only question in my head was, why was there a vampire in our neighbor's territory?
