Koto's Birthday Interview! (Q&A #2)

It's Koto's birthday!! So I have adopted this tradition from my good friend tocoloco004 and hosted an interview with Koto! A bunch of my friends asked her questions, so let's get into it and see what she says...

FoxyPuff: Welcome Koto! And happy birthday!

Koto: Hi there! And thank you!

Foxy: Thank you for being here today. Your fans were very excited to ask questions!

Koto: Well, I'm excited to answer them! It's an honor to have a book written about my first year at UA, and I'm looking forward to hearing what people are still curious about!

Foxy: Great! Then let's begin. Your love of ballet is well-known, so your first question comes to us from JunieWeathers, asking, "What is your favorite ballet?"

Koto: After performing Giselle, I think I have to say it's my favorite. The score is wonderful, the costumes are amazing, and the dances, especially the solo I had, were so fun. Even though I didn't get to play Giselle, her dance to her death is one of my favorites. There is just so much emotion in it.

Foxy: I can totally see that. I remember watching your performance in that. Speaking of, Junie asks a follow-up question, "What is your favorite role you've performed as?"

Koto: I loved getting to play the Sylph in La Sylphide. It was so fun to play the flirtatious yet kinda impish role. She really called to me, in a way, and I loved bringing her to life.

Foxy: Aww, that sounds like the perfect role for you! On the topic of dance, aBitGrim asks, "Other than ballet, what's your favorite type of dance?"

Koto: I used to take a ton of dance classes, and even though I've only stuck with ballet, I really loved my hip hop class!

Foxy: That sounds like a ton of fun! They also want to know what you do in your spare time. Grim also asks, "What's your go to video game?"

Koto: Just Dance! I'll play it whenever I can convince my friends.

Foxy: A great game! Coincidentally, Kaz, aka a1readygone, asks, "What's your favorite song on Just Dance?"

Koto: My favorite has to be "Venus" by Bananarama. It has such a good groove to it, and the dances are really fun! Makes me wish I could have gone to a disco back in the day.

Foxy: That would be awesome. Maybe you can host a disco-themed party and invite everyone to dance to the songs you love!

Koto: Ooh, I'll have to genuinely consider that for next year's birthday party.

Foxy: You definitely should. I'm sure people would love to see it. And speaking of music, Kaz also asks, "What's your favorite song to sing vs your favorite song to dance to?"

Koto: Ooh that's a very important distinction! I love singing to Avril Levine's "Here's to Never Growing Up," but I love dancing to "Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest.

Foxy: Both fantastic choices! I love those songs too! Now, for an even further distinction, tocoloco004 asks, "What's your favorite song to play when you're riding in a car?"

Koto: "Right Now" by Van Halen goes so hard, and it's kinda inspirational too! Just good vibes all around, the exact sorta thing you want wherever you're going.

Foxy: I totally get that. Another fantastic choice on your part. For our last music-themed question, at least for now, riceygirl101 asks, "Are you a Taylor Swift fan, and if so, what's your favorite era?"

Koto: I am! And I'm so caught between Fearless and Red! Fearless has so much passion, and those love songs pull at my heart every time. But Red! Those songs are such bangers as she started incorporating pop and rock much more! And the aesthetic of Red just can't be beat.

Foxy: Speaking of love...(waggles eyebrows)

Koto: Oh no (blushes), and don't do that, it's weird.

Foxy: Oh, alright. And it's nothing too crazy, I assure you. It's just that things were left very open with you in the romance department at the end of Muted Voices.

Koto: You could say that. I'm still trying to find myself as a person.

Foxy: Completely understandable! However, this is pertaining to a certain someone...Junie asks, "After the events of MV...Do you have any Ducky merch?"

Koto: Haha, I know what you're thinking about Ducky, but the truth is that I have all of my friend's merch! I love to support their hero careers like they supported me! Bakugo included. (winks)

Foxy: Ooh, I'm sure Junie will be happy to hear that! And speaking of your fellow heroes, Ricey asks, "Who's your favorite Pro-Hero? (besides Mic)"

Koto: Haha, you got me there. I really like Mandalay! Getting to work with her at the camp was awesome! (whispers) She was the only one of the group that didn't kinda scare me.

Foxy: Those four are certainly intense! But it must have been great working with them.

Koto: It was! They helped me learn a lot about my quirk. I got a lot of great opportunities at UA.

Foxy: Speaking of your alma mater, Junie asks, "After graduating, have you ever gone back to UA? Whether it was to help the next generation of heroes, visit your previous teachers, etc."

Koto: Yeah, I definitely went back with Mic to visit some of my old teachers like All Might and Aizawa.

Foxy: I'm sure you have a lot of nostalgia for your school.

Koto: I really do! I made some lifelong friends there.

Foxy: That's great! And speaking of friends and good memories, Andi, aka QuaccSmaccSnacc, asks, "What made you laugh the hardest in your time at UA?"

Koto: Definitely the time I walked into the kitchen to see Ducky with his hand in a bowl of popcorn kernels with the entire Bakusquad around him cheering him on. They were so excited when he popped the popcorn!

Foxy: (leans forward) I would be too! It sounds like you have some awesome memories with them.

Koto: I do; they helped me through a lot.

Foxy: I'm sure. And on a more serious note, Ricey asks, "If you could go back and change something from your past, what would you change?"

Koto: Well, I'd certainly have to change the day I broke Kati's wrist when I attacked her. If I could have held in my temper, my parents wouldn't have had to pick me up, I wouldn't have distracted them, and we wouldn't have gotten into an accident. And so they wouldn't have died. And then Grandma wouldn't have tripped down the stairs when I went to live with her. It's like everything happened because of that one moment. But I also became a hero student because of it. I'd just have to hope I'd end up on the same path if I fixed all of that.

Foxy: I can certainly understand that. And as we know, that chain of events led to you receiving a scar on your neck that you have shown before, but generally keep hidden under a choker. Andi asks, "If it weren't for your choker, what kind of necklace would you wear?"

Koto: I'd be sure to keep my mom's engagement ring on a long chain. It just means so much to me to have something of hers close to my heart.

Foxy: I can tell your family means a lot to you. And I'm sure you have a lot of good memories with them. Ricey asks, "What was your favorite memory living in America?"

Koto: I remember going to the local ice cream shop with Mom and Dad and smelling all the flowers from the garden barn next-door. We'd always go through with our ice cream, and dad would pick a small flower to put behind Mom's ear. It was so happy and simple in those days.

Foxy: (wipes tear from eyes) And speaking of "happy and simple," why don't we get into some lighter questions?

Koto: (clears throat) Yes please.

Foxy: So, Shelby, aka sd1229, asks, "If you could choose an additional Quirk, what would it be?"

Koto: Hmm, I think I'd like one of the more elemental quirks. Like water bending or something!

Foxy: That'd be really cool! Speaking of water, Grim asks, "What's your perfect plan for a rainy day like?"

Koto: A perfect rainy day would be a soft blanket, an array of snacks, and a movie marathon!

Foxy: What snacks would you go for?

Koto: Oh dear, what wouldn't I go for? You'll have to be more specific.

Foxy: Fair enough, well, since it's getting hotter outside, Toco asks, "What's your go-to drink on a hot summer day?"

Koto: This is gonna sound really basic, haha, but my go-to is water. I enjoy juice and lemonade and all that, but if it's hot, I'm going straight for my water.

Foxy: Not basic at all! In fact, I'm sure Toco will be glad you're hydrating. And as for more snacks, since it is your birthday, after all, Junie asks, "What's your favorite type of cake?"

Koto: Am I allowed to say pancakes? Haha, I'd love to have a stack of pancakes with a candle in it for my birthday!

Foxy: That would be awesome! Junie also asks, "How do you celebrate your birthday?"

Koto: I typically spend some time with my Uncle Mic. But Reina and her family are really sweet and have offered to throw my party at their house for the past few years. They've really taken me in like another member of the family, and it makes me feel really special.

Foxy: That is really nice. I wonder, if you were to go on a trip, where would you want to go most? Shelby asks, "If you could travel somewhere with limitless time and money, where would you go?"

Koto: Man, I'd love to go so many places. But my heart goes back to America. I'd love to spend more time where I grew up, see our old vacation spot in Vermont, and spend more time with my old friends in Missouri.

Foxy: You seem to have friends everywhere! But what about where you haven't been yet?

Koto: Hmm, maybe somewhere in Europe like Scotland or Sweden since that's where my mom's family is from, and I really know nothing about those places beyond what books and movies have told me. It would be interesting to get to know my heritage more.

Foxy: That would be a cool experience for you. And speaking of books, Toco asks, "What's your favorite book/book series?"

Koto: I don't read many books, but I was gifted The Lightning Thief a few years ago, and I love it! I'll have to read the rest of the series one day.

Foxy: That's one of my favorite series too! So I highly recommend it. You'll have to let me know if you like it when you finish it.

Koto: For sure!

Foxy: Now, as for experiences you haven't had, I've heard through the grapevine that you've never had a pet.

Koto: (puffs out her cheeks) Yeah, but I want one someday.

Foxy: But the question remains, what kind? In fact, Shelby asks, "Are you a cat or dog person? Or both?"

Koto: Both! I'm glad she included that option, haha. I'll take any animal that comes my way and give it a good home with lots of snuggles!

Foxy: That's so sweet! You really seem to accept what fate has in store for you.

Koto: Well, I know through experience that trying to stop fate is pointless. It's better to just move with it rather than against it.

Foxy: I might have to take your advice there. Anyways, we have time for one more question, so let's go with a hypothetical from Grim here: "If you could master any hobby in a day, what would you choose?"

Koto: Oh darn, that's a good question. There are so many things I'd love to do. I think I'd like to master the guitar! Like sure, I can make music whenever I want, but that doesn't take as much skill since it's just my quirk. I'd love to actually master an instrument, you know?

Foxy: I guess with your quirk, I often forget that you don't play any instruments. But it would be a cool skill to have!

Koto: I'll just have to work on it, though. Maybe I should commit myself to actually learning.

Foxy: That would be a cool hobby! But for today, I hope you commit yourself to having fun! Thank you so much for coming in and speaking with me today, Koto. And have a very happy birthday!

Koto: Thank you so much, Foxy, and thank you to everyone who submitted questions! They were all super creative!

Foxy: That they were. We'll see you guys next time! And if you have any questions for Koto or the author, please comment them, and they'll be included in the next Q&A. Thank you very much for reading, and have a great day!
