Chapter 63: Party Aftermath
Kirishima's POV
I find Midoriya and Uraraka standing in a doorway from the kitchen to another room. When I push past them, I see Denki and Todoroki on one end of a long wooden table, throwing ping-pong balls into plastic cups on the other end. Denki gets his throw into a cup and the whole room goes crazy.
Even though the other team still has three cups on the table and our classmates have one, Denki jumps up and down, screaming "I GOT A POINT!! I GOT A POINT!!!"
The older guys on the other side cheer anyway as one of them chugs from the cup Denki had scored into.
"Hey!" I shout over everyone else, getting my classmate's attention. "We gotta go."
"We're still playing though!" He exclaims, his eyes trying to focus on me. Just as he says that, the other team scores the final point in their last cup. "Now we're not!"
He picks up the cup and clunks it against Todoroki's drink, then they both chug whatever they have left. The half and half boy finishes first, drinking at a speed I didn't think possible, then slams the cup down on the table and wipes his mouth. Denki puts his cup down a few seconds later and shouts "WHEEEEEEEE!!!!"
The rest of the room follows suit, including Todoroki as they stumble out of the room with dazed smiles. I put an arm around Denki to keep him upright as we begin our walk to the meetup point. Uraraka calls Mic on the wireless transmitter Yaoyorozu had made as she and Midoriya try to support Todoroki.
"Hey, Mic?" She asks and waits for the answer. "No, we didn't. It's time to be done. We should go home." She chokes out the words, obviously paining her to say. She nods at whatever our teacher says even though he can't see.
"Okay," she says so quietly, I can tell it's all she can do to not cry. She puts the transmitter in her pocket and we all continue silently down the street.
I don't know about everyone else, but I can only think about how I failed. Not only at this mission, but as her friend. No wonder she wanted to go home.

Present Mic picks us up in the big van he had rented and drives us back to the house. When we get back, I struggle with the rest of my classmates, except Bakugo, to get Denki and Todoroki to bed. They're too busy giggling and trying to get down to the game room to play air hockey. It helps that they're in the same room, since that means we don't have to go back and forth to check on them, but they're also talking instead of sleeping.
"Dudes!" Denki exclaims, hopping off of his bed and onto Todoroki's. "You should've seen him doing shots! He was awesome!"
"Todoroki?!" Midoriya looks to the boy in question as Denki snuggles up to his side.
"I had to take a lot of cold medicine as a kid," he slurs in response, then begins laughing outright, his eyelids droopy. "I was always sick! My ice gave me hypothermia all the time! Remember?"
He turns to Denki who grins and nods. "Yeah dude, that was always so sad. You could never come out and play."
"You two knew each other as kids?" I ask, mildly surprised.
"Nope!" Todoroki exclaims, eyes alight. Him and Denki collapse in laughter. I try not to smile; I should be mad at them, but they're also being too ridiculous right now to not find at least a bit entertaining. When I smile, Todoroki's face lights up again. "You have shark teeth! I used to have a shark. He hid under my bed. His name was Mr. Sharky. He was my only friend."
He puts his arms around the blonde boy next to him as he reminisces.
"Shoto, your fire side is so cozy," Denki mumbles into his shoulder, wrapping his arms around him as well. My classmates and I all look at each other in disbelief that they're on a first name basis, but I guess it shouldn't be that surprising considering they're so drunk. Plus, they've been spending time with each other all week. It's not surprising that Denki rubbed off on him a bit.
I notice out of the corner of my eye that Mina has her phone out, taking pictures of the two cuddling.
"You can stay here all night, bro," Todoroki responds.
"Bro!" Denki exclaims with a huge smile. They start high fiving in a complicated handshake that they're obviously messing up, but they eventually just grab each other's hands and giggle.
Yaoyorozu crouches by the bed and says delicately, "Kaminari, you should be in your own bed. You don't want to crowd Todoroki, do you?"
His eyes get big and he looks sadly at his roommate. "No, I don't wanna crowd my bro. But I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too," Todoroki whines, but lets Denki leave his side anyway, sitting up to watch him sadly. He flops back on his pillows. "I'm lonely now," he laments then seems to just notice the girl standing there. "Yaoyorozu, d'you wanna keep me company?"
Her face flushes with a deep blush as the rest of us sputter with laughter. "Oh, umm…" she stumbles through her words for the first time since I've met her. "That's a very kind offer, Todoroki, but that's not--"
"No, Yaomomo!!" Denki screeches. "Come sleep with meeeee!"
"No, I want Momo to cuddle with me!" Mina exclaims, giggling.
She seems to regain her bearings and says gently, "everybody's going to sleep in their own beds tonight."
Both boys groan in protest, but seem to be so sleepy they're not quite processing what's happening anymore. Mina just winks at Yaoyorozu and I only now notice how unsteady she is. She must be feeling the alcohol too.
"We should all be heading to bed," I say, fatigue hitting me hard. Most of my classmates mumble their agreement and we all trudge out of the room, except Yaoyorozu who mentions setting trash cans near their beds. As I close the door, I don't miss the way she brushes Todoroki's hair off of his sweaty forehead.
I walk down the hallway to my room and push the door open. Bakugo is already in bed, his breathing soft as he lays on his back. I change and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
When I get back and climb into bed, Bakugo growls, "I'm not cleaning up vomit in the morning."
I try for a cheerful tone, saying, "don't worry, Yaoyorozu is taking care of it right now."
"That's not what I mean, idiot," he snaps. I glance to my right to see his red eyes glaring at me from his bed.
"Oh, I didn't drink anything," I assure him. "Wasn't in the mood."
He exhales heavily and goes silent. The next time I hear from him, it's quiet snores that let me know he's asleep. I can't help but think about what Shoji had said about Bakugo thinking Koto ran away because of him. Maybe that's why he doesn't want to leave so easily.
But even so, why would he have gone about searching the way he did at the party? If he really believed that blonde girl was Koto, why did he yell at her and try to push her into the pool? That's not very manly of him. I'm so confused what's going on in his head.

In the morning, I wake up around 9 and head downstairs where Bakugo's standing at the stove, making food. A couple of my other classmates are already downstairs, as well as Mic.
I have to say, he doesn't look good.
His long blonde hair isn't even pulled back into a bun, instead draping down his shoulders in tangled strands. He looks morosely down at the table, seemingly out of ideas. I want to go talk to him, but I don't know what to say. I failed him, but more than anything, I failed Koto.
Bakugo drops a plate of food into my hands and grumbles to himself as he continues slaving away in the kitchen.
Most of the morning is silent. Eventually, Denki and Todoroki come downstairs, pale and squinting at the brightness of the house. Bakugo yells at them until they eat. I guess their upset stomachs aren't nearly as bad as my friend screaming at them.
Nobody wants to talk about what happened last night, but Mic quietly asks us to fill him in on everything. After hearing our story, he finds us tickets on a flight back to Japan.
