I close the door and Craig walks around the corner of the kitchen. He looks me over briefly and seems concerned, "You're home early... Is everything okay?"

I nod. Craig smiles (kind of- he tries to-), and I smile back at him, feeling less nervous than before. Craig has that calming effect on me sometimes.

"Craig?" I practically whisper, his eyes meet mine and I feel my cheeks heat up, "C-"

"Let's go get dinner now," Craig interrupts, looking away from me. "Is there anything in particular you want?"

I shake my head, "A-" Craig grabs my hand and I blush hard, "Anything's f-fine," I whisper and Craig smiles as he leads me outside.

We start down the street, and it's dark outside. It's been a while since the sunset, already far past eight.

I looked down at our still intertwined hands and felt warmth spread through my chest. It was such a small gesture, but walking down the street holding hands with him- it makes my heart beat a little too fast, and a little too hard.

"Wh-Where are we g-going?" I ask, my voice too loud in the near silent surroundings.

Craig half-smiles again, "That one 24 hour diner that's about two blocks away."

One of the first places we went when first moved into the house...

"We haven't gone out to eat in a long time," he continues, "Just the two of us. Plus, things have been kind of... strained between us, recently."

What with your recent break up with a secret lesbian and my confession of my feelings- I have no idea what you're talking about- strain? What? Noo.

Craig snorts, "You get this look on your face that says you think I'm an idiot."

I can't help but laugh. I cover my mouth with my empty hand and I attempt to collect myself. "I don't think you're an idiot!" Most of the time.

Craig laughs with me and we both stop in the middle of the sidewalk in front of the diner.

"Most of time," Craig adds, with a smile.
