25
I woke up at about 3 am.
The house was silent, but that wasn't out of the ordinary.
It was peaceful. Nice.
I toke a quick shower before I went downstairs and made some coffee. The sky was still dark and it was drizzling lightly.
I felt relaxed. I felt calm.
I felt... happy.
It was nice being awake at odd hours. The world is silent and you don't have to worry about anything for a little while because the world doesn't start back up again until the sunrises.
It's a nice feeling, honestly.
"What are you doing?"
I jump at the sudden voice, freezing in my spot, looking out the window still.
"I-I uh wasn't a-aware you were still h-here..."
She doesn't say anything, but she sits at the table next to me and sighs sadly.
I look at her downcast face.
"W-What's wrong?"
She pushes her hair over her shoulder and looks at me. It makes my stomach twist the way she stares through me.
"That's a good question," she simply says looking back down. "A very good question," she mumbles under her breath more to herself.
I swallow heavily before wringing my hands.
"I can leave if you-"
"It's fine!" She bursts out grabbing my hand, "You don't have to go. You live here, after all...."
I sit back down slowly. We sit in silence for a moment. It's very awkward.
"Do you... do you think I'm a bad person?" She asks quietly. I almost doubt I heard her, but when she glances back up at me, he blue eyes shimmering with guilt and sadness- it's a bit harder to breathe.
