Chapter 1

15 years later

Juliane walked into Gringotts with slouched shoulders. She waved to the goblins who nodded at her. The injury that her father gave her caused her to damage her voice box. It was unlikely for her to talk again. But Juliane still had hope. Her father gave her lots of scars that day. They were up and down her arms and legs. Even a line in her stomach and throat. The one thing that was the worst, wasn't the scars. It was that she could never talk again. Not make one noise. When she was little, she loved to sing. But even though the healers told her the possibilities were slim, she still had that little sliver of hope. She embraced the changes, but still stayed in the shadows. Nobody could communicate with her. She learned sign language, and nonverbal magic, than followed her dream of working as a curse breaker at Gringotts. "Today, you are to go find a golden goblet that belonged to William Prewett." The head said before giving them the address and sending the teams off. Juliane walked into the dusty old house, and immediately started coughing silently. A lot of people gave her odd looks. They all spread out to search for the goblet.

Juliane silently let out a groan as the goblet was nowhere to be found. The group had been searching for an hour now. 'Are we sure it's here?' She signed to nobody. As she was moving through the room, she heard a crack. Looking up, she saw the ceiling cave in and fall. Right on top of her.

Bill was searching in one of the upstairs rooms, when he heard a crash from the room next to him. He rushed in to see a pile of rubble. It was slightly moving, and he could hear breathing from underneath it. He removed the pieces of wood off to reveal a woman with brown hair tied messily into a bun with her wand to hold it, and her eyes were bright blue. She was silently coughing as she stood up. "Are you okay Little Anne?" He asked in alarm running over to help. She nodded still silently coughing.

'Don't worry about me Bill.' She signed.

"I have to worry about you... You are my bestest friend... And new girlfriend." Bill said.

'Well, you may be my bestest friend, and my boyfriend, but I can take care of myself.' Juliane signed back. He watched as she got distracted, then turned to one of the dusty pictures on the wall. She said a silent incantation before the picture swung open to reveal the goblet. 'I got it!' She happily signed.

"C'mon." Bill said leading her down the stairs. "WE FOUND THE GOBLET!" He hollered in the house. Juliane swore it shook. "Ready to go back to the house Little Anne?" Bill smirked.

'So ready.' She grinned. The rest of the group came down the stairs and saw the goblet.

"You really found it!" One exclaimed in shock.

"Finally we can get paid!" Another whispered excitedly. The group apparated back to the bank to return the treasure.

The months passed quickly for Bill and Juliane, especially since they worked so hard. Today, Bill's family was coming over for a few days, and Juliane was having nothing of the situation. She felt that Bill should spend time with his family and not her while his family were there. 'No way Bill. I will not intrude on your family time!' Juliane frantically signed.

"Jules... You know I can't read that fast. I don't think anyone can." Bill sighed. She slowed down slightly. The panicked look still in her eyes. "You aren't intruding on 'Family time' I mean honestly you live here, and my mother loves you!"

'But it's your family! You should be able to be alone with them.' Juliane signed back.

"So you don't want to see them?" Bill said giving her a look.

'No, no, I do I just... Ugh! Bill you're doing it again!' She signed giving him a look. He let out a booming laugh before giving her an innocent look.

"Doing what exactly?" He asked batting his eyelashes.

'That! You have a gift to guilt me into doing things!' She gave him a pointed look.

"What! I so do not!" Bill said, his mouth agape.

'You so do!' Juliane signed. There was a knock on the door that made both of them jump. Juliane ran out of the room.

"Juliane get back here!" Bill shouted going to the door. His entire family was standing on the other side.

"Where's Juliane?" Alex and Ginny asked as soon as Bill opened the door.

"Let me go get her." Bill answered going to Juliane's room. "Come one Little Anne!" He sang by the door. His family watched with amusement filled faces as the door creaked open, and a hand shot out giving Bill the finger. Alex, Fred, and George burst out laughing as the door snapped shut again. "Well, you left your wand out here... You need to come out sometime." Bill said. The door opened up all the way to reveal Juliane.

'I absolutely hate you with all of my heart.' She signed to Bill seemingly not noticing the family.

"Aww look at me... I'm heartbroken." Bill answered flatly. Then started at each other for a few seconds than burst out laughing. Bill's was booming and Juliane's was silent. Bill turned to the family. "Well, here she is." He said turning to the group.

Ginny watched as her brother laughed with the girl that was practically her sister. She stepped forward and was the first to give her a tight hug, and ask the question on everyone's mind. "So... Does Bill's snoring keep you up?" She grinned. Juliane burst out in silent laughter, than signed something to Ginny. "Did you forget we don't know sign language." Ginny grinned.

"Well she said: Bill doesn't snore, and is the most amazing person in the world." Bill piped up from the corner. Juliane shook her head frantically with wide eyes. She fake slept but kept waking up and glaring at Bill.

"So he does." Ginny laughed. Juliane nodded giving her a knowing and sympathetic look as if to say, 'I'm sorry you had to suffer through that.' "Yeah, he kept us all up for so long, I was kinda happy when he left." Ginny said giving her a look.

"Hey!" Bill exclaimed. Juliane shot him a look, and signed him something. Bill fake gasped, putting a hand on his chest. "We don't speak such words in this house Juliane." Fred, Alex, and George exchanged a glace and then walked over to Juliane, each putting a hand over her shoulder with Alex grabbing her hand.

"Come on Juliane, we have so much to catch up on!" Alex said leading her away. Bill signed something to Juliane, and she responded with one thing. The only thing Ginny knew in sign language. She gave Bill the finger. Again.

As Juliane was being dragged away, Bill signed one thing. 'Karma.' Juliane stuck out her tongue and gave Bill the finger.

"So Juliane-" Fred started and George cut him off.

"Are you and Bill dating?" Juliane couldn't help it. She laughed. Doubling over in silent laughter, she grabbed one of the triplets to support her. The laughter wasn't because it was impossible, it was because Juliane was guilty. Guilty she had to hide her relationship from the family. Her and Bill had decided that it was best for the both of them, if they kept their relationship a secret. 'I wish you understood sign language.' She signed.

"What is she saying Fred, Alex?" George whispered. Juliane shook her head, than got up, waving to the triplets. She found Bill in the kitchen. 'Bill, this isn't going well. I can't talk to anybody!" She signed, sitting across from him.

'It can't be that bad.' Bill signed back.

'It is! I'm going to head to my room and take a nap.' She signed giving him a sad smile before standing up and going to her room. She lay there for about fifteen minuets before she felt the bed dip beside her.

"You didn't think I would let you be alone did you?" Bill whispered from behind her. She turned around and rolled her eyes.

'I should've known.' She signed before closing her eyes and falling asleep almost instantly.

Molly was cooking in the kitchen when Ginny walked in, looking for Juliane. "I think she's upstairs dear." Molly said. Ginny trudged up the steps and two minuets later came running down the stairs.

"Mum, Mum, Mum!" She said excitedly.

"What is it Ginny dear?" Molly asked, not looking up from her cooking.

"You have to see Bill and Juliane!" Ginny squealed like a school girl.

"Alright, alright!" Molly let out a chuckle and followed Ginny up the stairs. She stopped outside of Juliane's room.

"Look in there!" Ginny's face was lit up with excitement. Molly peeked in the room and let out a soft gasp. Juliane and Bill were laying on the bed, Juliane was curled into Bill's side, and Bill's arm was loosely wrapped around Juliane's waist. Both were peacefully sleeping. And for once in his life, Bill wasn't snoring. "Do you think they're going to get married?" Ginny asked hopefully.

"Time can only tell dear... But I think there's a good chance." Molly said with a wink as the two made their way down the stairs. Little did she know, the two 'friends' were actually one step closer to marriage then it seemed.
