Mornings were usually a busy time for the couple, not much time to talk, and barely enough time to kiss eachother before they're both running out of their shared dorm to get to their early classes. Despite the hustle, the two always seem to make their coffee together in their mornings.
James liked his coffee black, while Thomas liked an obnoxiously large amout of sugar in his, just enough so when the two were out the door, and they shared their morning kiss, James could always taste the bittersweet sugar on Thomas's lips as he flashed a grin and walked proudly out the door, leaving James to scowl and drink some water to wash the taste out.
This would happen day to day, until summer holidays rolled around.
"Remind me, again, why you're not coming with me to France?" Thomas said for the fifth time in the span of an hour, making James smile, despite himself.
"Because I have to visit my family too." James said, making Thomas pout.
"But think of all the romantic times we can have!" Thomas whined dramatically, throwing himself into James's lap for emphasis, making James laugh.
"I'm not coming to France, Thomas. Now get off of me you pinecone." He said, pushing against Thomas. Thomas giggled, lacing his arms around James's neck, letting out a sigh. "I'll be so looonely." He smiled as James giggled at him.
"Maybe next year."
"Definitely next year."
"We can't make that promise."
"We can and we will." Thomas stated, making James sigh and smile.
"Now get off."
The parting ways were the worst for the both of them. James will admit, he cried when Thomas waved goodbye and borded the plane.
"One and a half months without your boyfriend.." Hercules, his ride, said.
"Yeah." James sniffled.
"You okay?" Hercules said, bumping his shoulder a bit, making him sigh.
"Yeah..."
The couple Skyped everyday, usually at strange times, seeing their strange timezones.
"I still can't believe you live in a freaking mansion." James scoffed, giggling as Thomas stuck his tongue out at him. "Its not a mansion." He said rolling his eyes. James scoffed. "Three stories, four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, furnished basement..." He trailed off, making Thomas huff.
"Fine. Kinda a mansion."
"Mhmm." James took a sip of his drink. Thomas huffed.
"You and your gross black coffee. Its revolting." Thomas pointed out. James smiled slightly.
"I actually have some sugar in it." He said, taking another sip. Thomas's eyebrows shot up. "What?" He exclaimed, faking a mask of pure shock.
"The beautiful, handsome, amazing James Madison, having something in his coffee? Unheard of!" He said, making James giggle and flush.
"Oh... oh!" Thomas gasped, seemingly understanding something.
"What?" James asked, eyebrows furring. Thomas grinned.
"You never have sugar in your coffee, right?"
"Well... not usually." James said slowly.
"And I usually have sugar."
"Yes...?"
"Are you putting sugar in your coffee to remind you of me?" Thomas grinned. James flushed. "What? No."
"Aww, Jimmy James, thats adorable!"
James glared at him, seemingly shrinking into his sweater.
"Oh wow look at that, got to go, goodbye." James huffed, hanging up the call.
Thomas giggled at the black screen and whipped out his phone.
'Luv u Jemmy' he texted.
'...'
'...love you.'
