These songs are important to the plot, so listen to them before you read the one-shot.
"Yo Conman, what do you want to listen to?
The gang was hanging out at Evan's house, and it was Connor's turn to pick music.
"Whatever, just put my personal playlist on shuffle."
"Okie dokie."
Jared presses the shuffle button on Connor's phone and decides against doing some stupid shit to or snooping around on Connor's phone, so he sets it down. Evan walks back into the living room from the bedroom down the hall. The minute Alana sees the box he's carrying she elbows Zoe and they both have a dangerous looks in their eyes.
"Dear Alana Beck, and everyone else, I will demolish you in Monopoly!"
"Not today! I'm winning today!"
Connor groans in the background and asks Evan, exasperated,
"Why would you pick Monopoly?"
"Because I know that Jared, Alana, and Zoe like it."
"But I don't!"
"Neither do I. But we're playing it."
Evan pulls out the pieces and puts them on the coffee table for everyone to pick their own pieces while he set up the board. But, he pulls two away from the pile.
"Oy, Hansen, why did you take two pieces for yourself,"
Connor called over to Evan playfully, being the only one who had seen him do it. Evan fiddles with his fingers slightly, and answers in a small voice,
"When we were little, Jared and I made pieces for ourselves' out of clay. His is a pair of glasses, and mine is a tree. They're really crappy, but I can't bring myself to throw them away."
Evan was right. The pieces were very crappy. The glasses were crooked and unsymmetricle. The tree's leaves part was cracking and looked as if it had been glued back together after breaking off.
"Dude, I can't believe you still have them!"
"O-oh um I can just throw them in the garbage if you want you know what let me just go throw it away now-"
"Nonono, I love them! I will play as the glasses until the day I die!"
Connor giggled at the banter between his two crushes. His futile love was bittersweet, as how could he possibly be faithful if he loved two instead of one?
Pushing the thoughts away, he realizes that the music is super low and nobody can hear it. So, be plugs the aux cord into his phone as the others roll the dice to decide who goes first.
Jared got the highest number, so he went first as Evan dealt out the last of the starter money to his friends. Connor sits down in between Jared and Evan. Jared rolls on the tax space. Evan smirks as Jared hands over the money.
The game continues with Jared having a streak of horrid luck. Surprisingly, Evan was in the lead. The song Fake You Out by Twenty-One Pilots came on.
Evan chuckles and raps the whole thing effortlessly as he plays the game. Full out with whisper screaming and shimmying and bobbing his head.
Connor was impressed but also very worried and concerned at Evan's ability to sing it so perfectly. He decided to just leave it because everyone was having fun and Evan seemed happy.
Next, My Smile is Extinct came on.
Jared rolled the die, took his turn and commented about the song,
"Fucking mood."
Connor was now especially worried.
As the game went on, Evan and Jared sat back to back, leaning on each other.
Connor gazed longingly, knowing they were perfect for each other and dating either one of them would only drag them down.
...
Songs came and ended, the trio of boys knew all of the lyrics, and sang together. My Chemical Romance, Twenty-One Pilots, Hollywood Undead, Linkin Park, all that jazz.
Bullet (Explicit).
The game had been over for a while now, and they were just messing around. Jared heard this song and invited Evan to dance with him. Evan smiled. They danced together and sang the lyrics.
"You don't know what happened to that kid you raised!"
"What happened to the father, who swore he'd stay?"
"I didn't know, cause you didn't say! "
"Now momma feels guilt, yeah momma feels pain!"
Evan and Jared went back and forth with the lines, seemingly ignoring the meaning of the lyrics they were singing.
Evan signaled Connor over and suddenly pulled him in and the three sang and danced together, laughing and making weird voices.
Evan made this odd little kid's voice for the end bit, and they all giggled together. Evan began fiddling with the hem of his shirt. How could one not get nervous after dancing with their crushes?
Coming down from their Cloud 9, Jared noticed the girls' expressions.
"What's wrong?"
"...are any of you okay?!"
The boys realized what Zoe was asking about, and Connor answered,
"At this current moment, yes!"
"But you all were singing that song!"
"W-well it's a good song...sorry..."
Evan bit his lip and looked down. He just wanted to have a good time.
"Okay, let's get off this topic and do something else. Ummmmmm...Never Have I Ever?"
Everyone agreed with Connor's suggestion and sat it a circle. Evan left the room.
He returned with five shot glasses and bottles of beer.
"Evan, we can't have alchohol! That illegal!"
"It's fine Alana, we won't, like, rob a bank."
"Connor, my dead brother, I love you with all of my heart, but what the fuck did you do to Evan."
"Hey, I didn't do anything! It was probably Jared!"
"It was definitely not me!"
"Who else could have ruined Evan then?!"
Evan had been giggling in the background this whole time as he passed out and filled the shot glasses with beer.
"Myself. The first time I got wasted I was by myself. So, sorry Jared. I lied to you that time we raided your parents' liquor cabinet."
"Evan, when the hell was this?!"
"Chill out Zoe. It was in junior year, so like...three years ago."
The group of friends were stunned at Evan's lack of innocence for apparently much longer than any of them realized. Well, except for Alana.
"Three years?! It's been a year since we graduated! It's been that long since we graduated! I need to get to college, I haven't worked on schooling in a long time now that I think about it...you know what guys I'm gonna leave I need to go study-"
"Alana. Remember what we talked about? Take a break once in a while. Nobody will hate you if you stop working or take a break day."
"But college..."
"College can wait. Alchohol is currently more important."
Alana rolled her eyes and sighed, but didn't bolt out of the door, showing that she was definitely going to be staying. She opens her mouth,
"Okay, I'll start. Never have I ever...had sex."
Nobody took a shot.
"Really? Jared, you're so kinky, how could you not have yet?"
"Who would I even fuck though?"
"True. Okay Zoe, you're next."
"Um...never have I ever...been to a carnival. With like clowns and stuff."
Nobody took a shot.
"Y'all are boring. Jared, go."
Jared giggled,
"I have a good one. Never have I ever kissed a girl."
Three clinks were heard.
"I was at a party and got crazy drunk. Kissed some random girl. Don't remember anything except that it was disgusting and I never want to do it again."
"Okay Conman, that's ... understandable I guess, but how come Alana and Evan took a shot."
"Oh, u-um remem-remember when Zoe an I dated for like a week. Yeah, we sorta kinda kissedonConnor'sbedbutitwasabsutelydisgustingnoofffenseZoe."
"Evan, what the actual fuck. You kissed Zoe Murphy on her brother's bed?! That is hilarious!"
Jared fell down on the floor laughing, clutching his stomach and wheezing for air. Connor laughed, but not quite as much as Jared.
"You-you're not mad at me?"
"Dude, that's the saddest fucking thing I've ever heard. But, no. But it is hilarious to think about it."
In actuality, it wasn't hilarious to think about. Connor didn't need a reminder on another reason why Evan would never like him: Evan was straight.
Dude-zoned. There was no way Connor would like Evan now. Or ever did, to be honest. It was stupid of Evan to get his hopes up in the first place.
Jared recovered and pointed to Connor, still slightly giggling,
"It's your turn."
Alana was grateful that they had all forgotten about her taking a drink as well.
To Be Continued...
Word Count-1419
This is just an idea I had, and this has been in my WIPs for a while now. I decided to publish it and just release a part two later instead of waiting to figure out where to go next with this, since I've hit a writer's block. Any ideas?
Anyways, that's it and I hope you have a good day/night!
See ya later!
