Modern!Heathers: Candy Store
Explanation: I love the song Candy Store and I love Heathers so this was born yeet
Veronica Sawyer had recently became friend with the alphas of the school. The mythic Heathers, known for their beauty, power, and insanely malicious behavior.
She adjusted the straps on her backpack and walked to her locker, twisting the lock. As she grabbed her things and went to slam the door, her phone sang with her ringtone.
Heather Chandler calling...
"Hello?"
"Veronica! You said you'd meet us at the drinking fountains! And you don't seem to be here." Heather yelled angrily into the phone.
"S-sorry Heather. I'm on my way." She heard a dial tone, signaling that Heather was done with her.
Veronica cursed herself, then made her way to the fountains where the three girls dressed in their signature colors were.
"Ronnie, why'd you make us wait?" Heather Duke asked, obvious aggression in her voice.
"Yes," Heather McNamara agreed, crossing her arms. "I have a busy schedule."
Veronica couldn't help but think about what exactly was keeping McNamara so busy other than boys and cheerleading.
"Veronica, I'm going to need you to forge a note, okay?" Chandler said, grinning evilly. "Remember when Martha Dump Truck and Ram kissed on the kickball fields?"
"Oh my God, I totally forgot!" The other Heathers chirped, giggling.
Veronica fidgeted with a pleat in her royal blue dress bestowed onto her by the Heathers. "But didn't we all hang with Martha in Kindergarten?"
The Heathers looked at her. "Are you gonna commit or what? You'll need a surface to write on. Heather, bend over." Chandler commanded.
Heather Duke looked miserable as she bent over so as Veronica could write on a piece of paper, using her back as a sort of desk.
"Dear Martha," Chandler recited an entire, thought out letter to Veronica, her hand moving almost unwillingly. Why was she doing this? Veronica Sawyer, betraying her best friend and for what? Temporary glorification? She finished the note, but the Heathers weren't done.
"Ram! Will you come here?" Chandler taunted, holding out the note. Despite Veronica's friendship with Martha, she just watched.
"Why do you guys do this to her? What did Martha ever do to you?" Veronica suddenly burst out, not being able to be chill anymore.
Heather Chandler scoffed. "Are we gonna have a problem?" She asked, taking a step toward her, the other Heathers following suit.
"You got a bone to pick?" Chandler said, pushing Veronica back slightly.
"You've come so far, why now are you pulling on my di-" she began, in a rage but was cut of by a kid obsessed with Vine.
"Watch yo profanity." The kid yelled, getting the death glare times three.
"I'd normally slap your face off, and everyone here could watch!" She said, gesturing to the gathering crowd of eager teenagers.
"But I'm feeling nice, here's a bit of advice, listen up, beeyotch!" She yelled, and upon cue, the other Heathers grinned at each other.
A rock 80s-style music began to blare from some Heathers obsessed zombie who apparently had helped them with this.
The three goddesses of High School swung their hips, in a choreographed style that probably took hours to master.
"Honey, what are you waiting for, step into my candy store! You just gotta prove you're not a pussy anymore! So step into my candy store." The three sang, soon ending the number and glaring at Veronica.
"So what's it gonna be, Ronica? You gonna be a loser, or take this upgrade?" Heather Duke said tantalizingly.
"I-I uh," the poor girl stuttered miserably, hoping for a diversion.
"She doesn't have to listen to you Heather. Or any of you, for that matter." A teen with dark hair and eyes to match stepped out of the crowd, wearing a long trench coat and monotoned clothing.
"Whatever. Veronica, come to the oval table today, we're stealing it from the geeks." McNamara said, leaving with the posse of well dressed bullies.
"Who are you?" Veronica asked the strange kid.
"Jason Dean, call me JD for short." The boy said, offering his hand for her to shake.
She took his hand and looked into his eyes. "Veronica Sawyer, the new Heather."
"Why do you hang out with those good for nothing bullies? You are smart enough to not depend on them." JD said, releasing her hand and breaking eye contact, slightly blushing.
"You pick all that up from watching one exchange of me with them?" The girl asked, chuckling.
"I can tell you actually have a soul, Veronica Sawyer. Make the right decision." After he said this, the bell rang, signaling that it was time for class.
"See you around." The mysterious boy said, leaving for his class.
Veronica blushed as the attractive male walked away, and somehow knew that they would meet again in the near future, or at least, she hoped.
