For ChrolloLuclifer I am so sorry that this took a while. I hope you enjoy it :)
"Anthony," you call out as you climb onto the main deck of the ship. The smell of salt instantly fills your nose as you look for the dirty blonde. Your eyes scan the deck of the ship until you see Anthony, who is standing at the bow of the ship, looking out at the blue horizon. Smiling a little, you begin to walk towards him.
As you walk towards him, you hear a whistle. Rolling your eyes, you continue walking, not bothering to turn around. It has been like that ever since you boarded the ship. Anthony, one of your lifelong friends, invited you to travel the world on his boat with. It took months convincing your parents, but they eventually agreed since you begged too much. But looking back, you are grateful that you spent all the time begging to go, everything you have done, from visiting the Dardanelles and seeing the mountains of Peru, it has all been worth it.
"Anthony," you say again once you are close enough. The dirty blonde seemed to jump a little before turning around to face you, a smile on his face. You felt yourself smile more once you see Anthony. You could hardly deny the fact that you had a crush on Anthony, or in better terms a huge crush. That was another reason why you wanted to join Anthony on this trip, just to be around him more. But, you have not told him or plan to tell him; you were worried it would ruin the incredible friendship you have with him.
"Y/n," Anthony says, still smiling. "I'm glad to see you. I have not been able to see you much today."
"Its alright, Anthony," you say, smiling. "You are the captain of a ship; its important that you keep the ship safe."
"I know," he says. "I still wish I could spend more time with you. The point of asking you to come was for that reason."
You felt your cheeks heat up a little after hearing his words. "We already have spent a lot of time together," you say. "More than we normally do in London."
Anthony smiled. "That is true," he says with a little laugh that made your flutter.
You open your mouth to add something when you are interrupted. "Captain," you hear a gruff voice say behind you. Turning, you see a tall, strong man, probably in his late twenties, wearing plain clothes, with his arms crossed. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but some of the crew have a few questions to ask you."
You hear Anthony sigh as you turn to look back at him. "Alright, tell them I will see them in a moment," he says, the smile he had gone. The man nods before he turns before he heads back to his station.
"Duty calls," you say smiling, hoping to make him smile again.
Anthony laughs softly, the smile returning, as he shakes his head. "I guess so," he says as he looks back at you. "I promise that we will talk more later."
"I would like that," you say with a smile as you look at him. You see Anthony looking into your eyes. You feel your cheeks heat up as you look back into his beautiful eyes.
A moment late, Anthony clears his throat, breaking eye contact. "I have to talk to the crew," he says. "I will talk to you later." With that, Anthony walks by you.
You sigh a little as you turn to head back to your room. You shake your head; did you just ruin everything by doing that? What were thinking by doing that? If he did not know that you liked him, then he definitely knew now.
As you continue to walk, movement in the water catches your eye. You turn your head towards the movement and see a flash of black. You quickly walk over to the railing to look out at the water. At first you see nothing, but that's when you see what was making the movement, it's a man. Your eyes widen when you see that the man is not trying to swim, he is weakly holding onto a piece of, what seems to be, wreckage from a ship.
"Anthony," you yell, turning around. "There's a man in the water!" You see Anthony as he rushes over next to you to see. Once he sees the man, Anthony turns around towards his crew.
"Men," Anthony yells. "Get the ropes! There's a man overboard!" After those words are spoken, the men seemed to come alive. They all have a look of determination on their face as they do their jobs, seeming to have done this hundreds of time. You know what Anthony's job is and you do not like it. He hands you his jacket and quickly slips his shoes off before he dives into the ocean. You hold his jacket close you as you nervously watch him swim over to the man.
One man walks over to where you are and has a life preserver tied to a long rope, but you don't pay much attention to him as your eyes stayed locked on Anthony. You feel your heart beat faster as you see him get the man. Anthony has the man, who you can now clearly see is passed out, in his arms as he swims closer to the boat. The man with the life preserver takes that as his cue to throw the preserver into the ocean. You nervously watch as Anthony gets the man into the life preserver while he only holds it with one arm while the other holds the man. The crew then help the man pull them back into the boat.
You sigh in relief as you see Anthony's head peak over the ledge of the ship as the crew continues to pull the life preserver. You walk over to the ledge and help Anthony get the man onto the ship. You are able to gently lay the body on the deck while the crew helps Anthony. You put your ear to his chest and hear his heart still beating. "He's alive," you say before placing a hand on his pale forehead, his skin was burning hot.
You pull your hand away. "He's burning up," you say as you turn and look back at Anthony. "He must have a fever."
Anthony nods before looking back at his crew. "You two," he says, pointing to two crew members. "Carry this man to my quarters." The men seemed hesitant. "Now," Anthony adds once he sees their hesitance. The men quickly nod before they gently pick the man up and carry him away.
You look over at Anthony as you stand. "That was very generous of you," you say. "But where will you sleep."
Anthony looks back at you. "Probably where the rest of the crew sleeps," he says.
You look at him surprised. "You would sleep there," you ask, knowing how noisy it is in there at night.
Anthony laughs a little. "Its not terrible there, he says. "Besides, that man needs the bed more than me."
You smile a little; you had always loved how selfless Anthony was, it made you happy to know that there was at least one person in the world who would put others before himself. "But we should go check on the man," you hear Anthony say, pulling you from the thought.
You nod in agreement. "I hope he will be okay," you say as you begin to walk towards Anthony's quarters.
"Me too, y/n," Anthony says as you continue walking.
The rest of the walk was silent, but it was not an awkward silence. It was a silence that did not need to be filled; the air seemed to be filled with a determination, as to make sure that the man they saved would be okay.
You see Anthony's room door open and quicken your pace as you reach the door. Walking inside, you see the two crew members standing there, watching the man, who was lying on the bed with his eyes still close. You walk over to the man as you hear Anthony tell the men to make sure the rest of the crew was working.
You hear Anthony walk over next you as you grab a blanket and lay it over the man. "Does he need anything," you hear Anthony ask.
"A rag and a bowl of cold water would be perfect for him," you say as you gently lay a hand on his forehead to see if he was cooler; he wasn't.
"I will go get that then," you hear Anthony say, your attention mainly on the man. "I will be back in a moment."
"Thank you, Anthony," you say before you hear him walk away, leaving you alone.
Once the room is silent, you begin to study the man. He has black hair with a single white streak, which struck you as odd, and pale skin to match the streak. The man seemed a little old, looking to be in his mid-thirties, as he had a few wrinkles on his forehead. Seeing the man shiver pulls you back to reality as you realize that he is still in the wet clothes. Turning around, you see Anthony's wardrobe. Hoping his clothes will fit this man, you walk over and open the wardrobe before you begin to look for clothes.
Just as you are grabbing the last of an outfit for the man, hear footsteps. "Thank you for getting the wa-," you stop short once you see that it's not Anthony, but a crew member who is in the room.
"Sorry ma'am," the man says. "I don't have anything with me."
You feel your heart speed up a little, but you don't show it as you close the wardrobe doors. "If you are looking for Anthony, he will be back in a minute," you say as you walk back over to the bed.
"Oh, I'm not looking for Anthony," he says as you set the clothes at the end of the bed, hoping to get Anthony to help you once he got back. "I was looking for you."
You turn and look back at him, confused and nervous. "Why were you looking for me," you asks, looking at him cautiously.
"Because I think that you are a beautiful woman," he says.
Despite feeling uncomfortable, you smile a little. "Well, thank you for the compliment," you say.
You see the man smile and, seeming to gain more confidence, take a few steps closer to you. "I'm just saying what is true," he says. "And I was wondering if you would like to have a drink with me later."
You're shocked when you hear that; you never expected anyone to ask you something like that. He did not seem like a bad man, but you also did not want to have a drink with him, you certainly did not want to take the risk of the drink going wrong. You open your mouth to answer when you hear someone clear their throat.
Looking past the man, you see Anthony standing in the doorway, holding a bowl with a rag, looking at the man in front of you. "What business do you have back here," you hear Anthony ask the man as he walks over to you, his eyes never leaving the man.
"I was, um, just asking the lady a question," the man answers, looking at the floor with the occasional glance at Anthony.
"I do believe there are proper times to ask the lady questions and now is not one as there is an unconscious man aboard this ship and work for you to do," Anthony says, making you confused as to why he was acting like this.
The man nods. "I am sorry, captain," he says. "It won't happen again."
You see Anthony nod. "Happy to hear that," he says. "Now I do believe you have work."
You see the man nod before hurrying out of the room.
Turning back towards Anthony, you see that he is holding the bowl. "Will this work," he asks, acting like nothing happened.
You blink a few times, trying to shake off what just happened, before dipping a finger in the water. Seeing that it was cold enough, you nodded. "Yes, this will work," you say before removing your finger. "But before I can use the rag, there is something we have to do."
"And what is that," Anthony asks.
You feel your cheeks heat up. "We need to, umm, get him into some warmer clothes," you say before you pick up the clothes you laid at the end of the bed.
Anthony see walk closer to you and says,"I can do this if you want."
You look up at him, cheeks still hot, and gently shake your head. "I want to help," you say. "I can help and not.....see anything."
You hear Anthony chuckle, causing your heart to skip a beat. "Alright then," he says before walking over to the man. You turn around and take the few steps back to the bed. You hand Anthony the clothes as you feel the man's forehead to see if he has cooled down a little; his forehead was still hot so you quickly take the cloth and dip it into bowl of water, just to tide him over until you can get him into dry clothes
"So, what did my crew member ask you," you hear Anthony ask as you lay the wet cloth on the man's forehead.
Once the cloth is back on his head, you look back at Anthony who had the shirt from the clothes in his hands. You had a feeling you had a confused expression on your face because Anthony quickly added," I just want to be sure that it was nothing inappropriate or threatening."
You smile a little as a thought comes to mind. "Why," you ask as you walk over and take the shirt from Anthony's hands before turning back to the man. "Are you jealous?"
"N-no," you hear him say, causing you to smile more. "I just want to be sure that you are safe."
You look next to you to see Anthony next to you, ready to help. "I appreciate your concern," you say. "And I promise that nothing he said was inappropriate or threatening. He just asked me if I wanted to have a drink with him later."
You were about to move the blanket off the man so you could change his shirt, but before you could, Anthony gently grabs your hand. Heat rushes to your cheeks as you look over at Anthony. "What did you say to that," he asks, his eyes looking into yours.
"I-I didn't get to answer," you say. "You came in before I could answer, but I would have said no."
Anthony seemed like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders after you said that. His hand left yours a moment later and you instantly missed the warmth of his hand. "We should get him dressed," you say looking down at the shirt in your hands, hoping Anthony didn't see your pink cheeks.
"Alright," Anthony says before you two start.
You were grateful to have Anthony's help while you helped the man, even though some parts were awkward for you. The two of you were able to have the man dressed in a matter of a few minutes. And once the man was dressed, he had stopped shivering and was sleeping soundly.
You smiled as you watched the man sleep. You turned towards Anthony, who was looking at you. "I have something for you," he says as you see him reach into his pocket. "This was supposed to be a surprise for when we got back to England, but I think now is a good time to give you this." You watch as Anthony pulls a small box out from his pocket and hand it to you.
Smiling, you gently take the box, your fingers gently grazing his. Once you have the box, you gently remove the top and look inside to see a necklace.
(Pick your favorite one from the picture ;) )
You smile as you look back up at Anthony. "I love it," you say. "I remember looking at this necklace when we were in Peru."
"I know," Anthony says. "I remember when you looked at it."
You look at Anthony, thoughtfully. "You remembered," you say, unable to believe your ears.
Anthony nods. "I remember seeing you smile when you were looking at it," he says.
You feel your cheeks heat up as you walk closer to him, gently kissing his cheek before hugging him. "Thank you for the necklace," you say, smiling.
You feel Anthony's arms wrap around you. "It was my pleasure," he says.
You smile as you lay your head on Anthony's chest, that's when you hear something unexpected, which makes you smile more, Anthony's heart beating faster than normal.
