[A/N: WARNING! There WILL be spoilers for the In The Heights movie! If you want to avoid them, click out, now!]
Me: Hello, hello, hello! We are officially up and running again!
(Everyone cheers)
Eliza: It's so great to be back!
King George: FINALLY!
Me: Yup, everyone is fully vaccinated and ready to go!
Veronica: Well, we had a well-deserved break!
Sonny: Yup, it's summer break!
Me: Ooh, Sonny! I think you'll like today's request! Today's request will be a two parter and was by Smythe_275.
Usnavi: That's the perfect way to start things back up again!
Eliza: I watched it in theaters with my sisters and on HBO Max, both multiple times, and it was SO GOOD!
Heather M.: Us Heathers also watched it in theaters, too!
Angelica: I do agree with Lin that it should be seen in theaters if possible.
King George: Well, for us Brits it JUST came out in the U.K. yesterday...
Catherine of Aragon: Yup. The queens and I are planning to see it in theaters as soon as possible.
Me: Since we are obviously not in a movie theater, we're watching the movie here on HBO Max!
(I log in to HBO Max on the Smart TV. The movie starts)
Nina: (singing along to the bolero in the opening) !No te vayas! Si me dejas, si te alejas de mi, seguirás en mis recuerdos, para siempre...
(Onscreen: "What does sueñito mean?")
Catherine Parr: I like the way the whole movie is a framing device where he tells the story to his daughter and the other kids
Veronica: Yeah.
Me: You'll see them a lot in this movie!
Heather C.: He wakes up at 5:30 AM? How?!!
Usnavi: I'm a morning person.
(During "In The Heights")
Me: YASSS, ANTHONY RAMOS!!
Anne Boleyn: I love his "hey, y'all, g'morning"!
J.D.: Is that Lin as the piragua guy?
Me: Yup!
Usnavi: The passing of the torch!
Peggy: Ooh! I love the shots of the people going about their day!
Veronica: Wait...they cut Camila?!
Me: Sadly, yes...later, it will have been revealed that she passed away.
Nina: I, personally, wasn't a huge fan of that change.
(When the salon ladies appear, everyone cheers)
Daniela: I LOVE Daphne Rubin-Vega!
Veronica: Is that Stephanie Beatriz as Carla?
Me: Yup!
J.D.: Such a contrast from Rosa Diaz...
Sonny: Uh-huh! That's me! Everyone's favorite character!
Anna of Cleves: Heh, Sonny in the background during the "one dollar, two dollar" part sent me!
Benny: WHOOO! That's me!
(He and Usnavi high-five)
(When Vanessa makes her entrance)
Angelica: Hey, Vanessa! You could teach a thing or two about saying "no" to Hamilton over here!
Hamilton: Hey!
Heather C.: Ha! Usnavi can't get in a word to Vanessa!
Usnavi: Joke's on you because we're endgame!
Katherine Howard: Yess! The whole community is dancing!
(Later)
Eliza: Ooh I like how Usnavi and Vanessa's plans are more fleshed out in the movie.
Catherine of Aragon: Same.
(Later, during "Benny's Dispatch")
Veronica: They moved Benny's Dispatch before Breathe?
Me: Yup, they did.
Benny: I remember that day like it was yesterday!
(Nina chuckles. In the next scene)
Usnavi: I miss Abuela Claudia so much...
(The "In The Heights" characters nod in agreement.)
Jane Seymour: The cloth that Nina's mother made is beautiful!
(During "Breathe")
Me: Leslie Grace is great as Nina!
Nina: She definitely has my approval!
Angelica: Yeah, I really liked her take on the role!
Veronica: So she sees her younger self while singing?
Me: Yup.
(During the scene after, when Nina talks about the microagression she faced at the diversity dinner)
Hamilton: Nina, did this really happen to you?
Nina: Sadly, yes...
Me: That definitely is an infuriating situation.
(Later)
Usnavi: Ooh! I still have those pictures of the D.R.!
Heather C.: It's unfortunate that the hurricane destroyed the roof in the picture , though...
Vanessa: Abuela's right, Usnavi is a workaholic!
(Usnavi chuckles)
Me: So they replaced "Hundreds of Stories" with this cutscene where Usnavi explains to the kids how he got his name...
Laurens: I was sad that they cut that song.
(During the scene where Kevin is on hold with the Stanford office)
King George: (Singing along to the "You'll Be Back" hold music) ...TO REMIND YOU OF MY LOVE! DA DA DA DAT DA! DAT DA DA DA DA YA DA...
the Hamilsquad and Philip: SHUT UP!
King George: TREASON!
(Later)
Daniela: Yasss! Our salon!
Carla: Whooo!
Daniela: The Bronx is okay, but it's just not the same as the Heights!
(During "No Me Diga")
Me: Yass I love this song!
Heather M.: It IS a bop!
Katherine Howard: Really, old lady? Really, Cuca?
(During "It Won't Be Long Now")
Philip: I like how they gave Vanessa some more development.
Lafayette: I agree.
Vanessa: Ugh, I HATED when the realtor lady passed me over for some white couple...
Sonny: Ha! Usnavi, remember when I had to ask Vanessa out FOR you?
Usnavi: Ha, ha, very funny...
(During the scene in between)
Everyone: Chita, Rita, Frida, Celia, Dolores, Isabel, Sandra, Rigoberta, Mirabal
Nina: And we can't forget Sonia Sotomayor!
(During "96000")
Laurens: The way they interpreted this number for the film was epic!
Anna of Cleves: Yup, one of my favorite scenes in the film for sure!
J.D.: Good thing they replaced the Donald Trump line.
Me: And the phone book in Tokyo line.
Lafayette: I like the little drawings!
Sonny: YESSS! Greg Diaz SLAYS the rap!
Catherine Parr: The all-skate at the end is everything!
(During "Piragua")
J.D.: Is that Chris Jackson as Mister Softee?
Me: Yup!
Usnavi: I like how they had some OBC cast members to make cameos!
(Later, during "When You're Home")
Benny: Nina and I got nostalgic when we got to this part of the movie
Nina: Yup.
Madison: They have great chemistry together.
Jefferson: I didn't like the ending though. It was different from what we're all used to in the Broadway album.
(Later)
J.D.: Ohhh, so he's asking Sonny's father?
Veronica: Marc Anthony's playing him!
Peggy: Ooh! And also Usnavi's a step closer to attaining his dream when he finds out his check is cashed!
(During the dinner scene)
Me: Mmmm! The food looks good!
Nina: Yes, it does!!
Angelica: I love the energy everyone's giving off!
Vanessa: The "I have a date" bit made me and Usnavi laugh!
(When Kevin reveals he sold the business)
Heather D.: Ooh! Drama!
Nina: Well, don't just dismiss this as "drama"!
Me: Nina's right.
Peggy: (after hearing about Nina getting searched) Oh my goodness...
(Benny hugs Nina)
Me: I can see why she'd refuse the money.
(During "The Club")
Me: When I saw this in theaters, during the club scene, I could feel the bass booming!
Eliza: I don't really like how they took the Nina/Benny parts out of this scene and in Blackout.
Sonny: Is that Seth Stewart as the bartender? How come I only noticed this just now?
Carla: Yup! The original Graffiti Pete!
Heather C.: Well, it looks like Usnavi and Vanessa are trying to make each other jealous...
Me: And it's getting chaotic!
(During "Blackout")
Usnavi: I can attest, when the blackout first happened, it was really, REALLY chaotic.
Philip: Ooh! A new Usnavi/Vanessa part?
Me: Yup, but they also gave the Nina/Benny part that was originally in the Broadway recording to them, too.
Madison: Thank goodness everyone is safe
(During "Paciencia y Fe")
Carla: Oh boy...here come the waterworks!
(She starts crying. Daniela comforts her)
J.D.: So they made this her deathbed song?
Veronica: And it looks like the way that Usnavi finds out she won the lottery will be a bit different.
Madison: I'm glad they had Olga Meridiz reprise her role for the movie.
(During "Alabanza")
(Everyone is crying)
Usnavi: I just miss her so much...
Peggy: (Sniffing) I cans see she meant so much to the community...
