Chapter 6
Akira sat with Yui to her left in the limo with her legs crossed. She was uncomfortable in the school uniform. It was too short for her liking and the shirt drew attention to areas she had rathered it didn't. She had refused to wear the bow that had come with it, that was plus she didn't like thing around her neck. She had always had a phobia of people touching or generally anything going near her neck. She supposed it was to do with that she had witnessed happen with her mother, either way she was always painfully aware of how vulnerable her neck was. Akira glanced around the car, Ayato was sat next to Yui, Shu was next to the closest to him on the other long seat of the limo with Kanato and Laito next to him. Opposite Yui sat Subaru and opposite Akira sat Reiji. He was reading a book but he kept glancing up at her. He was studying her, she knew because that was what she had being doing to them ever since she and Yui arrived. He was definitely suspicious of the knives she carried, he didn't seem to be 100 percent convinced on her fabricated story. Akira sighed and looked at Yui, she was silently observing all 6 of the brothers as they sat in completely silent, all engrossed in their own worlds.
"A penny for your thoughts Pancake what's on your mind?" Said Ayato leaning forward to obstruct Yui's view of the others in the car. The smile that he had on his face suddenly vanished and he moved closer to her, towering over her almost. Yui moved backwards, into Akira who placed a hand on her arm as some form of reassurance. "Do you dare defy your truly or will you finally learn to submit?" Yui put her hands up over he face as Ayato got closer. Akira stared him down and the two made eye contact. "I suppose you're still going to be defiant." He said with a hint of annoyance and quiet enough that Yui didn't seem to hear.
"I would appreciate it if you stopped calling me that. I have a name and it's Yui Komori so don't call me pancake." Akira smiled, it was nice to Yui see her stand up for herself. It was a rare sight. She was such a kind soul that she usually just let people walk all over her, too kind hearted to stand up for herself in case she upset anyone else. It was something Akira had never understood but she knew that that was just who Yui was.
"You shut your mouth. Your opinion is irrelevant to me so I'll call you whatever I like. So deal Pancake." Ayato replied. Akira let out a small sigh, he was annoying. A self titled brat that thought the world owes him something, mixed with the attitude that he was untouchable because he was a vampire and you got Ayato, an insufferable ass who Akira couldn't stand to be around. Akira saw him open his mouth to reveal his fangs. She moved to place a hand in one of the few places her outfit had allowed her to store and knife. The sound of a book being snapped shut got there attention.
"Ayato, how many times must I tell you? You will resist such activities to your private room." Ayato huffed and back off, folding his arms like an stopping child. "I brought these for the two of you to drink." Reiji said looking at the two female in the limo. "100 percent pure cranberry juice is the best cure for those with weak blood." Akira frowned, weak blood, she thought, more like lack of blood. This was not a gift, this was like making a lamb fatter before you slaughter it.
"Thank you very much." Yui said timidly.
"Oh you needn't thank me. You must be fully aware that you two are to become our prey. So drink your juice daily, please." Akira took the cranberry juice and placed one on Yui lap. She didn't really have a choice. She had to keep the unknowing weak girl ask up which had meant letting them drink her blood. She hated the thought but if she resisted things would get violent and then she would be forced to reveal her true identity. That would have been a problem, the best thing she could do was make sure that she did all she could to keep her blood levels up. That was when and if it came down to a fight, she wouldn't be at an even large disadvantage because she was dizzy or tired from lack of blood. Akira took the straw out of the packet and punched it into the carten when she heard Yui take a shaky breath inwards. The juice box was in between her hands on her lap and she held it tightly, trying to stop herself from shaking.
"Oh look, her teeth are chattering." Kanato said. "Listen Teddy, this is what happens when mortal feel afraid. They show us their fear with this sort of behaviour. Though the pretty red headed girl doesn't seem to be scared at all, we will have to change that. But it's funny to watch." He turned the bear around so it faced Yui. "So take a good look okay?" Akira glared at him. He talked to the bear too? She thought, could he get any weirder? Akira silently took Yui's hand in hers. Yui instantly wrapped her fingers in her friends, she took a deep breath in and calmed down. Akira turned to look out of the window, not standing to look at any of them anymore and silently drank her juice box as they drove the rest of the way to the school...
The school was massive and very fancy but then again nothing else was to really be expected from the rich vampires lifestyle. The two girls followed Reiji into the halls way of the school, carrying their bags and followed by the other 5 vampires. Reiji stopped and turned to face them.
"Yui, you will be in the same class as Ayato and Kanato, follow them please."
"Okay." She answered sheepishly.
"Akira, as you are older you will be in Shu's class. Although I won't be surprised if that lazy good for nothing doesn't bother to show you to your classroom." Reiji spat hatefully. Shu who was leant against the wall near them made no motion to indicate that he had heard the comment but he must have. "Unless either of you desire a whipping later, don't do anything stupid. Is that understood?" Reiji was looking solely at Akira when he said those words, clearly pinning her as the troublemaker of the two. Akira glared at him, that must mean that the secret of what the Sakamaki's really were must be unknown to everyone at the school. Of course that wasn't uncommon. Most people don't know of vampires existence, Yui wouldn't if it wasn't for her Father and Akira had been the sole survivor of the vampire attack on her home village. "Well do you both understand?" He asked impatiently after he got no reply.
"Yes." Yui replied simply.
"Sure." Akira answered a second after with no emotion in her voice. Reiji turned and left them alone. Ayato and Kanato began to move towards their own classroom. Yui looked at Akira.
"I-I guess I'll see you later then." She said, she was clearly worried about being in their presence without Akira.
"Yeah, of course." Akira replied with a nod.
"Have a good first day."
"You too and Yui...stay safe." Akira warned. Yui nodded and then turned to follow the two vampire down the hall. Akira watched until she had turned a corner and gone out of her sight, she let out a worried sigh. She didn't like this. Then she looked toward Shu who was stood learnt against the wall still with his arms folded. He let out a sigh and pushed himself up. He began walking in the opposite direction Yui had gone without so much as opening his eyes to look at Akira. The redhead silently followed after him until they reached the classroom they were supposed to be in.
"Here, this is it." Shu told her. He lazily leant on the wall opposite the classroom and folded his arm. He watched as Akira looked up and down the hallways, trying to remember where it was so she could find her way there again. The door opened and two girls came out of the classroom. They both saw Shu and began to giggle.
"Hi Shu." They received no reply but that didn't stop them giggling and blushing as they walked past him. Akira frowned. Pathetic, how old were they? They were acting like school girls but she could guarantee that they wouldn't react like that to seeing him if they knew what he really was. Still the sight of them getting all flustered around him made Akira angry. She didn't show it like they did but he seemed to have a similar effect on her. Clearly the Sakamaki brothers were treated like Princes of the school, given royal status probably because of the money to their name and their 'im better than everyone around me' attitude. Akira knew however that they were far from being the Princes the girls in the school might have imagined them to be. She knew that and yet why was this vampire having such an effect on her. Shu sighed, pulling Akira out of her thoughts and he began to walk away from her.
"Where are you going?" She questioned him.
"Somewhere else. This class is boring, besides I'm tired." Akira watched as he left before sighing and entering the classroom.
"Oh that's one of the girl that got out of the Sakamaki limo." Said a female voice as Akira walked past them towards the back of the room.
"She's really pretty, you don't think she is dating one of them do you?" Replied her friend.
"I don't know, she better not be though. Those boys are too good for the likes of her." Great, Akira thought, now she was a target. Nothing knew there really, she was a target for vampire on the field, she had been a target at her old school because she was an orphan and now she was a target for being associated with the Sakamaki's. An association she didn't want and would happily have given up. Being a target didn't bother her but it was annoying. It had provided her with problems before but if these girls came after her they would, as others had before them, that Akira was nobodies target and they would do well to leave her alone...
