Before the Concert
The concert was hours away, and my first performance was with band. My costumes were already at school, hung up and ready for me.
I ran over my music just a little more before my friends had arrived. So many acts I was performing that night.
Being a girl wanting to major in the performing arts, I did as much as I could in that category. That meant pushing my limits.
There was dance, band, choir, drama and my own two acts. Six acts in one show. Was I nervous that night? Who wouldn't be?
My callbox buzzed, drawing my attention away from my thoughts. "Yes?"
"Your friends are here," said Victor. "Do you want me to send them up?"
"Oui, s'il vous plaît," I responded.
Not even a minute later, my friends arrived.
"Was up, Chris?" Asked Cory.
Of course I was practicing my dance for for my dance performance. "One, two, three and four! Five, six, seven and eight!"
Jesy caught me as I spun, "Christine, please stop for a minute. You need to rest. You'll tire yourself out before we even leave for the show."
Cory hit my arm lightly. "Yeah girl. Whatcha gonna do when you're too tired to perform?"
They were right. I needed to save my energy. "You're right. I'm sorry guys. It's just, I have a lot of acts to do tonight. I'm hoping I will remember them all."
Jesy smiled, rubbing my back. "Are you kidding me? You have been preparing for months to do this."
Cory came from behind me. "Yeah girl. Besides, at least one of us is in each class performance with you."
"True," I shrugged, feeling more at ease remembering this.
"Plus," Ella added on, "Even when we're not on, we are supporting you from the wings."
A smile crossed my lips. "This is why I love you guys. You're always there to support me." We grabbed our instruments and headed for the elevator. "Oh yeah. Dinner after the show is on me."
"Cool. Where we going?" asked Cory.
"Anywhere you guys want," I replied with a smile. Treating them to dinner or going to theme parks was my way of repaying them for their support.
Ella's eyes lit up like a bulb, "We should go to that murder mystery diner. That'd be fun."
Ray shook his head. "Let's discuss this after the show. You're gonna make me hungry."
We walked down the street to the school, heading directly for the dressing rooms. The boys ventured to their assigned rooms while us girls travelled to ours.
We occupied one of the girls rooms with six others. Each room fit nine girls, and all of us had our own mirrors, as well as costume racks. Mine was the most crowded of all of them, showing my vast number of activities.
I sat at my dresser, turning on the lights. A program sat in front of me, highlighting each performance I took place in.
Wicked(No One Mourns the Wicked/One Short Day)- All Cast
The Little Mermaid(Under the Sea)- Band Company
The Lion King(Circle of Life/I Just Can't Wait to be King)- Drama Company
Cats(The Jellicle Ball)- Dance Company
I Dreamed a Dream- Christine Daae
Hairspray(You Can't Stop the Beat)- Choir Company
The Phantom of the Opera- Christine Daae and her Friends
The only real concern I had was make up change between my Cats dance and solo. That was going to be rather quick. Luckily, there were two acts before my solo, giving me time.
The first performance was in an hour and a half. Perfect time to get ready and practice a little.
I took out my makeup for Wicked. Dark green eyeshadow with glitter and emeralds. Then my knee length dress. The top was black, and the skirt green.
According to my clock, I was on shortly
