"And uhm, I think somebody called me. They said my naivety was charming. Cause I thought I could change the world." A pained expression crosses Gerard's face. "You gotta be kidding me." I click off the video. I put on Na Na Na, marveling at how different the set of minds are. He always just wanted to change the world.
"Why do people put other people down?" I ask the plain white walls of my room. I curl up on my bed. I try to ignore the Swiss Army knife on my night stand. I'm just about to reach for it when my alarm goes off. It's time to get ready for school. And I was awake all night.
"It's not a band, it's an idea." The words flash in my mind as I leave for school. Maybe I can try to change the world. Maybe I can try.

I rush into class, still inspired.
"Hiya!" I say to a group of people sitting together. I don't even know most of their names but they look familiar.
"Hey."
"Sup."
"I'm Quinn, nice to meet you," I say to the boy who said 'sup.'
"I'm your next door neighbor," the boy mutters with a scowl. A girl near me giggles. "Shut up Ashley." The girl laughs harder and the boy blushes.
"Oh, umm sorry."
"It's fine."  I look at them sheepishly. I don't know what to say. I start wringing my hands in hopes of thinking of something to talk about. It feels like the whole group is staring at me expectantly. I notice Ashley's glance stray to my intertwined hands. I quickly try to hide my wrists, but her eyes narrow before I have a chance.
"Hey Quinn wanna sit with us at lunch?" I look down and feel my cheeks heat up.
"Umm sure." My confidence from earlier is gone.
