Chapter twelve
Whilst Michael was fleeing persecution, Alexander was leaning against a tree, staring up at the palace Windows.
His lovelorn eyes gazed dreamily at the feminine cat who was also staring out of the window, tears softly streaking down her pointed face. Katrina sobbed silently for her stolen mother.
Feeling his heart wrench in grief for his love, although he could not see that she was crying, Alexander kicked his foot hard against the tree in frustration before continuing to stare at Katrina.
The way she was crying, her brave expression in such hard times, just her figure framed in the flickering candlelight reached out to the young Muscateer, reached out to his stricken heart.
But how could words describe how he felt about her. .. The numerous times he had observed her and silently, ever patiently waiting for his time to come. Time and time again he just stared up at her or down at her, living of her poise and her beauty.
A sudden noise caused Katrina to start and she looked out of the window in fear, thinking that the soldiers were back to arrest her and take her to the same fate as her mother.
Her dark eyes scanning the gardens, she spotted Alexander who was also looking up at her. With a shiver that went down his spine, Alexander managed to smile at her still staring into her deep eyes.
Katrina, going under the impression that this cat was a spy, she gave him a cold gaze and made a angry noise before slamming the windows shut.
Alexander was left feeling distraught.
