11. Mandy
The next day, I met up with Mandy at the same place, a little anxious. I had been forced by Rylie who told me I needed to patch things up. I mean, I love my bossy girlfriend but I'd love if she let me just... Pretend Mandy didn't exist. Cause even for a serial killer like me, that girl was scary as heck.
Whilst nervously glancing at the entrance, I heard a voice from behind me.
" There you are. I've been looking all over this place for you."
I turned towards the voice. Mandy was wearing a plaid sweater and her blond hair was up in a very, very, messy bun.
" Hi Mandy."
" Amanda. Did you already forget that I revoked your Mandy rights?"
" I decided to be a criminal."
She sat down opposite me. Her eyes were puffy and reddened. It looked like she'd went to the bathroom to cry or something.
" Look Mandy...."
" Don't start. I know your girl forced you to come, okay? I'm not an idiot. I know you're sorry and everything it's just... I can't keep being friends with someone that doesn't care about me enough to simply answer my calls and texts once in a while, you know? It's really hard to make effort and get a wall in your face."
She paused, wiping her eyes that had started tearing up again.
" JJ, you've been my best friend for so long and it doesn't feel like... Like you see me as your best friend."
She sighed.
" I just want to have a best friend that's present."
" I..."
" I know you're in your bubble all the time, but that doesn't mean that you can ignore everything out of it all the time. That's not how adulthood works."
" I'm still figuring adulthood out."
" Also, I saw your shop. You're hardly ever in it."
" I'm a teen boss. I have employees. I don't need to be in there twenty-four seven."
" JJ... I know very well what you do when you're not in that shop. Did you start again?"
" Start what?"
" Drugs."
"No! Of course not."
She didn't need to know that I'd never started drugs and simply got high on murder. She'd confronted me years ago about my "drugs habits" and I'd simply went with it. It was easier than admitting I was a cold-blooded killer.
" JJ... I know that look. You're guilty."
" I told you I stopped. I stand by that. I wouldn't lie about such a thing."
She sighed again.
" Okay. I believe you."
I notice her nails were painted red. It looked nice.
" Let's put this behind us. But there won't be another chance after this, okay?"
" Okay."
