Kayla scurried to hide under Megan's bed covers just as Megan's mom, Officer Wethers opened the bedroom door.

"Meg, honey, you asleep?" She asked.

Kayla didn't respond and made sure her breathing was slow and steady, but her heart was pounding a gazillion miles a minute. She had never once lied to Megan's mom, both because she greatly respected the woman and also because she was slightly terrified of her. Officer Wethers was not someone to mess with.

"Your room looks nice. It smells like you've done some cleaning."

Oh no! Kayla thought. Megan's mom knew she was awake. And then it hit her. Megan refuses to sleep with the light on, and Kayla forgot to shut the light off. Dammit. Did I just blow my cover?

Officer Wethers just let out a sigh. "Remember to shut your window before you actually go to bed."

Kayla stayed perfectly still, paralyzed in fear of being caught.

Megan's light flicked off and the door closed shut. It seemed that she had left, but Kayla could not will her muscles to so much as pull down the blankets, let alone get out of the bed.

"Good job." Megans voice came from across the room.

Kayla managed to peak her head out to see Megan poking her head in through the window.

She was still covered in blood and it took all of Kayla's will power not to vomit from seeing her friend like that, not to mention all the guilt.

"Now come out here with a towel and clean clothes so you can spray me with the hose." Megan ordered.

"Won't your mom hear?" Kayla questioned.

"Already tooken care of! I mixed sleeping pills in the food I set aside for her from supper earlier."

"Megan! You can't just drug your mom." Kayla hissed at the other girl. She felt guilty enough as it is lying and cleaning up after a murder.

Megan looked at Kayla, annoyed. She had just stabbed a girl to death, did she really think drugging her mom was a big deal right now?

"Just get out here!"

Kayla reluctantly got out of Megan's bed and grabbed Megans requested items. She remember spending entire summers here and begging her mother to stay just one more day. Now she wanted to be anywhere else but here.

Kayla lumbered towards the window and dully noted that Megan had moved the trash bag holding Carly's body and Megans bloody old sheets to the side of the window.

There was an awful smell waifing from the bag already.

Kayla held her hand over her mouth, doing her best to hold in the contents of her stomach.

They walked over to the the hose, where Kayla sprayed Megan down. After a moment Megan was satisfied and dried off, changing into clean clothes there in the yard. From there they disposed of clothes in the fire pit, letting them burn to a crisp with a lighter Megan had mysteriously made appear.

As they watched the orange flames licking Megan's clothes into ash, Kayla stared into nothingness, still not wanting to believe the mess that they had got themselves into.

However Megan looked on, a smile creeping onto her face, proud and satisfied.

Kayla didn't bother to think twice about rushing out the window.

She was out in the blink of an eye, almost tripping over the bag holding Carly's dead body just as Officer Wethers opened her daughter bedroom door

"Hey!" She heard her friends mother shout.

Kayla bolted towards home, not bothering to look back over her shoulder.

She was so focused on running away, she ran right smack into a person, and stumbled onto the ground.

Megan stood infront of Kayla, covered in blood.

The sun had just set, giving only enough glow of light to shine on the outline of Megan's body.

"What do you think your doing?" Megan snapped, folding her arms.

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Megan was pisssed.

"Um, leaving. I cleaned your room." Kayla responded, trying to stand onto shaky feet.

"And what, let me take the blame?" Megan scoffed.

"You should! Your the one that killed Carly, not me!"

"If you wanna stab me in the back, thats fine." Megan stated evenly, falling onto her knees in front of Kayla.

She pulled a pocket knife out of her pocket and wrapped Kayla's shaking hands around it.

"Wha-what are you do-doing? Kayla stuttered.

Megan got close and leaned into Kayla's ear.

"You will take the fall for all of this." Megan whispered, and forced Kayla to stab her in the stomach.

Kayla jumped back in shock as Megan doubled over in pain.

"Megan!" Kayla hysterically cried out.

Megan looked up and smiled at the girl, clutching her stomavh. Blood pooled out of her mouth steadily.

"If I were you, I'd run." Megan croaked, the smile never leaving her face.

Kayla started to slowly back away clutching the murderous knife in her hands. She had never truly felt fear until now.

Adrenaline pumped through her veins, her senses on high alert, yet she could not find the will power to move her legs.

"Mom!" Megan yelled dramstically. "Help! Help!"

Kayla suddenly found her feet and raced away towards the road.

Where would she go? How could she explain all of this? How could she clear her name.

Kayla was too disoriented by her thoughts to see or even hear the approaching vehicle speeding though the country roads.

A rusted purple chevy pick up truck barreled into the young girl, sending her flying forty feet down the road.

Kayla died on impact.

Megan died on her was to the hospital due to extreme amounts of eternal bleeding.

Authorities assume the Kayla and Megan worked together to kill Carly, and thay Kayla tried to kill megan to keep her quiet.

You have failed! You did not help them get away with murder. You can end the story here, or make a better choice.

Kayla stepped outside the door into the hallway before Officer Whethers could enter Megan's bedroom.

"Hey!" Kayla plastered on a happy smile and spoke in the most cheery voice she could muster.

"Hi..." Megan's mother responded, giving the young girl a weird look. This was not how Kayla usually greeted her. "What's up?"

Kayla kept the smile on her face, and trying to come up with a convincing lie. She had never lied to her best friends mom before and Kayla could feel the cool droplets of sweat form on her forhead and the back of her neck. Her armpits and thighs became clammy, clearly a signal that even her body was against the idea of lying.

However there was too much at stake to just simply not lie. What was she going to do?

"Oh, you know debating where a good place to hide a body would be." Kayla finally answered with an unamused laugh.

I mean technically that wasn't a lie. That conversation was bound to happen as soon as Megan got back.

Officer Wethers gave Kayla another weird glance before chuckling and saying, "have fun kiddo."

Megan's mom walked away and Kayla went back into Megan's room.

"Good job." Megans voice came from across the room.
