6: The Confrontation
-----------------
"Dust?"
Swap sat down on the couch next to Dust and held his hand gently, turning his head towards him. He looked over to the side and found Ink lying there, sleeping with his arms on his chest.
Dust and Ink had sat down on the couch to take a break for a bit after the whole thing with Error. "Hey, Baby Blue. What were you doing with Dream?" Swap turned away. "Well, we did speak with each other for a little bit. Talking about the incident and such."
Dust tilted his head. "Oh? What specifically?" He wondered if Dream wanted to punish them. Swap wrapped his arms around one of Dust's. "Oh, well... nothing, really. He told me that he..." Swap paused. "...never thought that I would do something like that..." Swap said, tightening his grip on Dust. "He, er... said that I should have known better than to do that."
Dust pecked Swap on his cheek. "Hey, everyone makes mistakes, right? Don't you always say that?" Swap gave a small nod, seemingly still upset. Dust frowned, then suddenly got an idea. He grinned mischievously. "Hey, what's a pirate's favorite letter?" Swap closed his eyes and groaned. "Dust, if you say 'rRrRrrR', I will leave the living room immediately." Dust smirked. "Well, that might be what you would think..." Dust gave a shit-eating grin.
"But his TRUE love be the C!" he said, shooting Swap an OK-like hand symbol below his waist making the shape of a C. Swap had steam coming out of his ears and he raised himself from the couch with his hands in the air and left the living room. Dust chuckled and dramatically called for Swap to come back.
"Heey, c'mon Baby Blue...!"
Dust watched as Swap left, chuckling lightly, then frowned. It's not like he ignored what Swap told him with a pun. It didn't really sound like Dream to shame him like that. Sure, point out his wrongs, but it's not like they trapped Ink in Hell or anything. And it was only going to be for a couple of minutes, too. Maybe he was just thinking of excuses, sure, but it still wasn't like him. Something wasn't right. Maybe I'll talk with Dream, Dust thought. Try to sort things out.
"Ya know, it IS kind of weird, now that you mention it."
Dust jumped and turned around on his place on the couch. Ink's eyes were half-open, staring up at the ceiling and resting his head on his arms. He glanced at Dust. "It's not like Dream to be scolding anyone like that. Well, except for his brother, that is. He's usually the kind of person to be positive about stuff."
Dust looked at him weirdly, which Ink caught onto. He frowned and raised an eyebrow. "What's the matter?" Dust shook his head. "Nevermind."
Ink closed his eyes and continued on. "Buuuut, I guess you could justify it by saying that he's probably stressed over taking care of a bunch of kindergarteners with me." Ink said, chuckling. "And, if that was the case, I wouldn't blame him."
Dust frowned. "What do you implying, 'with me'?"
Ink waved his hand. "Y'know, since I'm a responsible adult-figure, I have to take care of all of you!" Dust smirked. "Let's remember who let themselves get locked helplessly in a bathroom." Ink cracked open an eye. "Now, now, Dust. Let's not get too cocky with ourselves, huh?"
The two chuckled to themselves softly. They may sound like they didn't like each other, and it was like that when they had just met, but ever since Swap and Dust became closer together, they were practically forced to get along. Dust honestly didn't think much of Ink, although one thing stood out to him: he had frequent mood swings. It was like he was a character in some video game the creators didn't know what to do with.
"Anyways, about Dream," Ink said, going back to the original subject. "I think you should talk to him. Swap may have thick skin, but he's a soft person." Dust frowned. He knew that Ink's version of 'thick skin' meant "oblivious and has too much of a positive perspective of things."
"Dream and Swap are friends because of their similarities in the perspective of the world and everything around them, so based on that, Dream should be able to understand how Swap feels and try to give him less of a bad time." Ink sat up. "What I'm saying is that you should probably give it a go and talk to Dream."
Dust was skeptical. What Dust could rely on was his perfect memory, and he remembered the day he and Ink had first met. He hadn't changed since then. In other words, he was someone you could trust. A third of the time. Which got Dust thinking confronting Dream was a bad idea.
But Ink was insightful. Forgetful, but insightful. So he could trust his analysis.
But, then again...
Dust sighed and got up. Ink raised an eyebrow. "You gonna do it?" Dusk gave a small nod and shrugged with a lazy smile. "Might as well, since you're so set on me doing it." Ink smiled. "Great! I hope you... y-you..." Ink's smile suddenly turned into a confused expression. "Wait, what were you gonna do?" Dust sighed again and stuck his hands in his pockets. "After that whole speech thing, you immediately forget about it."
Ink smiled and used a finger-gun on me. "That's just Ink for ya!"

Swap was sipping cold water when he saw Dust walk by. "Oh, Dust!" he said, waving his hand at him and smiling. Dust smiled back and stopped to quickly chat with him. "Heya, Baby Blue," he said. Swap was about to say something when Dust interrupted him. "Hey, I'm going to go talk to Dream for a little bit. That alright with you, Baby Blue?" Swap tilted his head in question but complied. "Of course!"
Dust was about to leave when Swap spoke up again. "Um, actually Dust... May I ask you something?" Dust raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
Swap rocked on his feet. "Well, I was just thinking... Maybe I could come with you?"
Dust hesitated, considering it carefully. Then, he smiled. "Yeah, sure, Blue."
